He wasn’t saying that they were bad at managing their money he said that they never made any money and that somehow he did. I’m sorry but never once has anybody in the history of fucking ever paid to see Ole Anderson on a national level. 100% fat. As he looks out from the second-floor keeping room of his nearly 9,000-square-foot home in Toccoa, Ga., directly across the South Carolina border, he sees 2,000 feet of shoreline, a portion of the 14 acres that he owns on Lake Hartwell, with a couple of mountains completing a beautiful picture in the distance."

Meltzer did a TERRIBLE job with this interview -- he IS interviewing himself. Let's hear Anderson's opinion, not Meltzer, who we can hear any time. Meltzer is talking for like 80% of this "interview."

He spend the beginning of the interview trying to get Ole to talk, all Ole would do is say to read his book and be a condescending jerk. What else is Meltzer supposed to do? Just let there be dead air for 30 minutes? This is an audio show. There's only two guys in front of a microphone, if Ole isn't going to talk he has to talk himself. If Ole had any good sense he would have been actively promoting his book rather than act like a bully and just say read my book.

    • @ThereIsNoLord

Michael Kelly In fairness, I didn't hear that, so I can't say if Meltzer is justified for other reasons, but it really isn't an interview. He is talking about his own opinion, which is what he is used to doing. Some times it is the fault of both guys that an interview turns bad, but I do still think talking extemporaneously is a strength of Meltzer, but interviewing is not.

what kind of a question is that, "does he still have the money?" who cares? ric flair spent a lot and made ill fated investments. he had bad luck financially. this point doesn't negate the fact that flair made a ton of money. it doesn't matter if a wrestler is a good worker or anything else.....what matters is that the wrestler has the charisma and appeal that the audience craves. ole can say ric flair did the same match every night, but the feuds and matches he had with the likes of ricky the dragon steamboat and sting were legendary and some of the best matches ever performed. it was guys like ric flair that laid the foundation of professional wrestling and increased its popularity to such an extent that it became mainstream. the only problem i see is that when wrestling became mainstream and vince bought out everyone, it also became very corporate in nature and lost the unique character that it had when it was territories.

I gathered from this interview that Ole considers that there are many people on the planet(Some are wrestlers and others aren't wrestlers yet) who could be just as big stars as Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair were. Both of them were just ordinary before they got good storylines and gimmicks. They played the gimmick well to their credit, but they aren't the only ones who could've done it. I really like Flair, Savage, etc. but I also think that Ole has a point. He means to say that if the booking was good enough and the talent scouting was good enough, they could've MADE another Ric Flair. Ric Flair's not a superhuman in terms of athletic ability, speaking skills and charisma. But considering all three fields, maybe he is in the top 0.01 percent. That still is 750,000 people that are just as good or maybe even better. he was there at the right place and on the right time with the right folks. This viewpoint is totally accurate in a territorial system but on national TV, it doesn't work. if one star jumps ship, it takes its toll on the company. I'm sure Ole would have understood this had it been someone better than Meltzer explaining. i guess that meltzer himself didn't get was Ole was talking about, so how could he have explained him. RIP Ole!

this argument gets surprisingly dense with the convoluted linguistic stuff.
"it's all subjective!" "depends on what some people consider money" "define a great worker" "it's a very abstract thing". Ole and Dave would have made good literary theorists.

Ole would argue that the sky isn't blue.

    • @jere.nurkka
      @jere.nurkka 3 месяца назад

The perception of the sky as blue is a result of Rayleigh scattering, where shorter (blue) wavelengths of sunlight scatter more than longer (red) wavelengths. However, this perception is not absolute and varies under different conditions, demonstrating that the sky is not inherently blue.
      1. **Atmospheric Conditions**: The sky changes color based on atmospheric conditions. For example, during sunrise and sunset, the sky appears red or orange due to the scattering of shorter wavelengths and the longer path of sunlight through the atmosphere.
      2. **Pollution and Particulates**: In areas with heavy pollution, the sky can appear gray or brown. Particulate matter scatters light differently, leading to a sky color that diverges from the typical blue.
      3. **Geographical Location and Altitude**: At higher altitudes, the sky can appear darker, sometimes even black, due to the thinner atmosphere and reduced scattering of light. In some geographical locations, the sky might consistently appear a different hue based on local atmospheric conditions.
      4. **Color Perception Variability**: Human perception of color is subjective and influenced by various factors, including light intensity, surrounding colors, and individual differences in vision. What one person perceives as blue might not be the same for another.
      5. **Scientific Perspective**: From a purely scientific standpoint, the sky itself has no color. The perception of color is an interaction between sunlight and the Earth's atmosphere, and thus the "color" of the sky is a transient effect rather than an intrinsic property.
In summary, while the sky often appears blue due to Rayleigh scattering, numerous factors can alter its perceived color, supporting the argument that the sky is not inherently blue.

you're either blind or a Flair homer if you don't agree that he's wrestled THE EXACT SAME MATCH for more than 20 years - even Bruno Sammartino said that he and Stu Hart had a conversation stating that Flair is what we call "a routine guy" - i could call ALL of Flair's bumps, high spots AND SET-UP MOVES before he did them since i first saw him on television in the early 80's - i grew up with Bruno, Bob Backlund and Harley Race (who Flair got a TON of his moves, bumps etc. from) and all of their matches were uniquely different depending on who they wrestled - i've always felt that Ric's greatest years from 1977-1985, after that, i lost interest and felt he had the title WAY TOO LONG ...

Meltzer did the interview. Ole is his guest. Ole is entitled to his opinion and worked with the many performers he despises. Ole would make a point about each person and Meltzer had to put in his two cents. Why ? No one cares about what Meltzer's opinion when he's not the subject being interviewed. A has been is a lot better than being an idol worshipping, never was or will be passing himself off as an expert on the subject. Ole states what he thought of performers, he has that right.

  • @78bcat

Meltzer is far too invested in being a know it all to have a conversation with Ole. When Ole was talking about paying talent. He was talking about controlling costs and paying talent based on the draw in order to make money. He was also attempting to tell Meltzer that when you lose a Flair, you take a guy and make a new star...which is what every smart mark claims to want and have no idea how to do it because they refuse to listen to guys who actually created stars...like Ole Anderson.
