Hey everyone! Join me as I watch Hotel Transylvania today for the first time! This movie was pretty funny throughout and then it started to really get heavy and full of heart warming moments.
When monsters want to get away from it all, they go to Count Dracula's (Adam Sandler) Hotel Transylvania, a lavish resort where they can be themselves without humans around to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula invites creatures like the Invisible Man, the Mummy and others to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez). However, an unforeseen complication unfolds when an ordinary human unwittingly crashes the party and falls in love with Mavis.

So, fun fact about the Dracula novel: Dracula doesn't die to sunlight, it just weakens him. The whole turn to dust in the sunlight myth was created from the 1933 adaptation. :)
Actually it comes from the 1920s illegal German silent film "Nosferatu:A Symphony of Horror".

Indeed, when Stoker`s widow found out about The Film she ordered most prints destroyed as she viewed it as an infringement of her husband`s IP.Only a few incomplete prints survived with the names of Stoker`s characters changed to more German-sounding ones(I.e. Orlok instead of Dracula, Hutter instead of Harker,Knock instead of Renfield,Bulwer instead of Van Helsing,Sievers instead of Seward,Ellen instead of Mina and Ruth instead of Lucy) and that`s what we have today!

@@AshXXMayftw Also, it was implied that the sun itself isn`t what burned Orlok but rather the Mina character`s pure virginal soul, the sun was just the receptacle of the burning but as you can imagine that`s extremely difficult to get across in a silent film, particularly and especially one that was all but destroyed due to copyright issues!

I don't understand why Quasimodo is at the hotel, he is basically a deformed human being, not a monster, even though Notre Dame treated him like one

A little fact: the word 'liubov' (The Lady Liubov) actually means 'love' in a row of Slavic languages (like Bulgarian and Russian; it is also a quite spread female name). Talk about hidden meaning
This is one of Sandler’s best movies and one of my favorites. Since a lot of his film are usually hit and miss. Just be careful with Jack and Jill.
If I hadn’t known that Gennedy Tartatovsky (the brains behind Dexter’s Lab and Samurai Jack) was involved with Hotel Transylvania, I would’ve watched it relatively late.😅 I love this film, it’s very entertaining! My only regret is not seeing it at a movie theater.

He didn't create it.. he was like the 4th director to be put on this project, but he has completely rewritten the story and added his flair of animation.
If you want more of Selena Gomez's acting, she played Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place

Actually, in the original Bram Stoker novel, sunlight doesn’t kill vampires. It only weakens their power.

If the movie followed the actual mythology there wouldn't be any danger at the end. If you read the original book Dracula is able to walk around in sunlight with only a minor decrease in his powers

Glad you liked the film it is a family favourite of mine and neat fact this film was originally supposed to be animated but they choose CGI instead which I have to say really suits the film much better and the next two are really great and funny.

gonna be honest: if i knew monsters of all types were alive and just hiding from us, seeing us as the true monsters, i would try my hardest to befriend them. i mean, seriously, life is dull and bland. monsters could really shake this world for the better.

I love Winnie she's the most cutest wolf pup I've ever seen especially when she dances.
You should check out Megamind too! Very underrated and overlooked movie because it had the misfortune of releasing close to Despicable Me. Personally I like Megamind more, but they are both great.

I'm glad you enjoyed this! If you have time, you may want to watch the next two in the series. Adam Sandler gets a bad rap, but he has some very good live action and animated movies. And I have also found a few that I loved even though I knew they were a hot mess all the same. Anyone who says he can't act should go watch "Uncut Gems". 😄💍👑📿

Unless you only mean Rob Schneider, Kevin James, and David Spade. Shoot Drew Barrymore has three movies as a lead role, that I can remember off the top of my head. Kevin only has more slots because of sequels. This one. Grown ups. Mall Cop was just a Happy Madison production, like alot of his "usual cast" movies were. If you had the chance to help your buddies careers you would too.

Isn’t Quasimodo technically a human. The Flashback of what Happened to Martha(Drac’s late wife) scared the heck outta me as a kid. Fuzzy memory. 13:44 Exactly!🏳️🌈 Martha and Winnie(Wayne and Wanda’s daughter) and Young Mavis are voiced by Jackie and Sadie Sandler. Respectively. I loved the lion king reference that Johnny made in the end song.

vampires didn't burn in sunlight in the original mythology
It's a weakness they picked up over time as the vampire gene grew weaker as those that where turned in turn turned others who turned others weakening the vampire genes, of so that's the mythos via the Blade trilogy if I remember right. The original was the strongest and had nearly none of the weaknesses today's version do
