We are about to shape this dagger into an actual dagger-looking blade. We start with the Damascus all finished and the blood groove milled in. This video will be a lot of 2x72 belt grinding. Once we put a pocky tip on the serenity dagger, we will test this blade and see if it will “KEAL”.

Can we take a moment and appreciate how entertaining these videos are as well as informative. Kyle and company always seem to have such a great energy and attitude and it's great to see.
I appreciate that!
It might have been cool to have put the makers mark inside the fuller! But that’d also require more sanding afterwards unfortunately.
These videos are entertaining and cathartic. I find them really relaxing.
Thanks to his parents homeschooling him and his siblings. Best way to educate at home is to find their passion and use it to teach. Listen to his math. And his brother? Look at the video work. Again math, and art. Yep I can see the lessons forming in my head. Though I think in the last few years everyone has had a taste of homeschoolimg. 😂
That extremely subtle "SUBSCRIBE" on the belt of the belt grinder was fucking genius
That grinding segment around the 3:30 mark is a work of art, the camera work and music work so well. Great editing!
Coffee companies, sponsor this man already!
You should try your own forged in fire competition with your family. Same formula from the show. I think it would be interesting to see how everyone handles the pressure.
That subliminal "Subscribe" on the belt is genius! 👍🏻
I literally don't care about knives and swords, but your skill is so top notch, I had to subscribe. You're truly an artist.
I could watch those sparks of the grinder all day, this blade threw beautiful sparks
Kyle you and your videos are the best, entertaining and engaging, as well as informative. You are by far the best knifemaker/youtuber there is, I always get super excited when a new video of yours comes out, you and your family are amazing!
I love watching you and your dad together. What a lucky family.
Coming along BEAUTIFULLY!
It’s always a good day when Kyle posts
RUclips compression's greatest enemy: grinder sparks.
It's looking great! Nice tips included. Always appreciate your experience tossed into the build.
Gosh you are such a refreshing beacon of positivity. I love your videos and how you explain everything. Can’t wait to see this blade finished!
Master Royer! You always deliver! ⚔️💯
I love how this guy has mythical knifemaking skills. If he made these blades in ancient Greece, he would be proclaimed a deity.
And yet he can still be a goofball and play around. Knowing that makes me happy.
The blade is coming along great. Such precision. The video work is impressive as well. Way to go Josh. Good luck on your knives Dad.
Go Team Royer!
Loved the subtle “subscribe” on the back of the sanding belt
Hey thanks
series getting more and more exciting... loved the father/son quality time...
loving the back of the grinding belt trick ;)
Hi, Kyle! Just found your channel. I'm an amateur home blacksmith just starting their journey and your videos are super fun to watch and also contain some good info, even for a guy like me. Just want to say thank you for what you do and for doing it with so much obvious joy!
Hey thanks Michael. Keep Forging On my friend. We are in your corner.
Dad
Great job as always, and what a good relationship you have with your father, God bless you always.👍👍👍👍

All ways look forward to your videos THANKS!
Thank you for another bad ass video! Can't wait for the etching video! Y'all be safe and have a blessed day ☺
He's like a big dork.. but Damn he know his Damascus.. and the small details he pays attention to is unprecedented
always a joy 2 watch, much love ya'll
That subscribe on the grinding belt 🤣👍👍
Once again, an awesome video. I found your channel while wandering on RUclips but hey, I'm so glad I found it ! May the forge be with you too,!
It was great to see you and your family having fun testing it out. It's looking so cool, I can't wait to see what do with this. Great work bud
First person to see the subscribe easter egg and time code to where it is, wins a 🏆
Edit: @anthonygyke1954 found it the first 4 minutes the video was published. This one is for you @anthonygyke1954 🏆
0:28 on the grinder belt, love the videos Kyle and fun games like these too! (just noticed I'm to slow, guess I'm growing old)
@@genexstyle you can have a 🏆❤️
@@KyleRoyerKnives thanks champ!
The production quality of your videos is on par with your knife-making skills.
Looks outstanding.
I am continually impressed by your work both with the craftsmanship of the blade and the creativity of the videos. Thanks for sharing both for education and entertainment!
I can imagine. Since I'm a homeschool mom, and a homeschool advocate. 😁
Another Great Upload Kyle. Thank you for the super entertaining and educational content!
👍🏻☕️🔥⚔️
Gorgeous blade. Good luck to Dad.
Hey thanks Mota. Keep Forging On my friend.
Dad
Very skillfully done, looks great 👍 Regards from Down Under.
brilliant mate just right amount of crazy 🤣🤣could watch all day 😎👍bring on the nxt video.
Its looking so good! When you hold the dagger blade side down and film from below the ricasso and fuller look like the Mandalorian's helmet.
If i ever hit the lottery I am definitely getting some knives from you. Incredible work!
Hey thanks Dan
Looks great like how you did the fuller, makes for a smooth transition.
Klingon Bat'leth dude.
As always, great stuff.
incredible!
I like the fact that you pencilled in the word "subscribe" on your 2"X 72" belt grinder belt!
Only one of the newer-model chip cameras could have picked that up!
Hey thanks. Josh did a great job
Super sweet edge bevels!
I'm relatively certain that I've never seen a ricasso bisected by a fuller before. I was skeptical at first, but am growing more intrigued as you progress.
Nicely done
Nice Sub in the sanding belt!!
The little heel kick at 14:01 ^^
I have to say that I like how you put subscribe on your grinder belt subtle idea and a little subliminal influence good job and that is dagger is starting to look awesome can't wait to see it finished
so great man
Mr ROYER. Like I always said you are one of the best M S Precise ,Clean ,best material and…. Again God bless you and your family. Good luck
Great video.
The distal taper on this blade is looking good, and once you have a hilt you should be able to penetrate many things.
I like the "subscribe" on the belt idea!
Looking good!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thanks for the 👍🏻
Why is Kyle Royer such a hit with fans: He is just a genuine downhome farm-boy nerd. Who can't be a fan of that. Forge be with you Royer Family!
ha ha ha your dad running for the fence when he drops in the mentos. Also pretty sneaky little subscribe thing you have going on the back of your belt there, well played. awesome episode as always.
Love it!!
Glad you like it!
Looking good Kyle
I had to like the video. The “subscribed” on the back of the belts is awesome!
Hey thanks
you have my like. Bro you not only are a master at you craft, you are also lowkey hilarious
Lowkey.... 😂😂😂 ffs
4:54 Kyle, it’s super awesome to hear you were homeschooled. My wife and I are homeschooling our 3 children. So neat to see how incredibly beneficial it is and how the children get way more schooling. Not to mention how efficient it is allowing for more extra curricular activities, like forging 😉. Oh yeah and our children get learn about Jesus, not Drag Queens and Trannies.
Absolutely Zachary. We schooled four children at home. Three of them were self employed in their mid to late teens. It’s expensive financially and time wise but most definitely worth it. I’m still waiting for a refund on all that government school tax money that did not prosper my family. We are in your corner my friend. Slow the roll and enjoy your family. Be good to the momma. They are incredible. May God bless you and your crew my friend.
Dad
@@KyleRoyerKnives thank you for the reply and encouragement :-). Yes, we are hoping someday the laws change where homeschool families get some of that state funding. Even if we don’t get to benefit from it directly I hope families that choose this path get to in the future. Keep up the good work and may God bless you all as well.
Was thinking, if you can make a dagger or big bilatelar knife, wich would be attachable to a staff, to serve as a spear with that connection. Probably some combination of screw/bayonet and a safe-knob, should do the trick. Another point - would LOVE to see luxurious damascus kukri knife/machete from your forge.
Always love watching your work, Kyle!
Also, who do I have to thank for the groovy Lofi recommendations from your background music?
Kyle doesn't do coffee-breaks,he's just coffee-darkening his insides!
Copy copy coffee
Love the "subscribe" on the inside of the belt.
Hey thanks my friend
Dad
Probably using the wrong words, but where the fuller goes into the riccaso, the curves coming in from the edges of the blade look soooo noice!! :D 12:30
Haha the belt has subscribe written on it, I love that
Bunny is undefeatable!
To"Dad" Good luck on your Journeyman journey man. 👋
Such a good thumbnail, haha
Of course it's gunna Keal, it's a K Royer master Smith knife! I'm curious as to what case hardened damascus looks like. Maybe for an experiment video??
Just made some dies to forge a cross guard from 416 ss came out perfect, until fitting.. the the fun began.
Math.. then more math & some more math working on laying out the final finials and down sweeping points.
The RUclips compression really did a disservice to those dark shots.
Such a shame, because that grinding montage was awesome.
Writing "Subscribe" on the back of the sander belt was a really cool idea. lol
Kyle got way too hyped chopping Thanos in half, I loved it haha
The Bunny did well!!!
Until Dad got involved ...lol
Your work is insane as always! I'm not happy with the file guide I have. Where did you get yours?
Just curious about the pucker you mentioned in the grinding belts. Might it have something to do with the crown on some of the belt grinder's wheels to facilitate tracking?
Can we take a moment for the detail on the back of the belt sander.😮
I would have put the maker's mark in the fuller just above where the guard will be.
would it be a bad idea to let the fuller go down the tang on a slight downward angle towards the tip of the tang,
so that you could fit the guard into the fuller and not have a gap on both sides when it´s slid on?
Since this´ll be a collectors piece anyhow you would´nt have to worry about strength at the tang anyway, right?
Just noticed that subtle "subscribe" on the inside of the belt on that belt sander. Pretty cool to see that when the speed of the belt closely matches the camera's frame rate
Edit: around 40 seconds in
🏆
Good catch. I was looking around so hard it was giving me anxiety. Really wanted to find it first but missed it although I think subconsciously I noticed the interior belt was dirtier than normal, I didn't realize why.
@IHWKR That's exactly what I thought at first about being dirty, then I looked closer and paused the video lol
greetings from tamaulipas
excellent work
you have reached the point of excellence 🤩🤩
You coming to Blade Show Texas?
The subscribe on the back of the grinding... paper(?) made me laugh
Grinding belt?
0:28 Subscribe logo on the belt hahaha
Anyone know how to find the angle of a kitchen knife for sharpening? Any YT videos on the subject please.
cool
Kyle Are you going to the blade show in Fort Worth, Texas March 17th & 18th?
5:54 couldn’t that arch in the belt also be a product of your platen wheels being arched?
rabitt killer.. nice video .. i lovit
neat gimmick on your sander belt...😉
Kyle. Would it distort your pattern that much to forge out the bevels to say 75% of the finished product over grinding all of that metal off?
Damn Subliminal advert, the dog jumped up and attacked the keyboard!
loved the subliminal subscribe on the belt sander belt
Pretty cool. Josh did a great job
You attacked the bunny , Doom Gay will take revenge XD
