  • We need to find out the age-old question, is this one-penny folding knife worth your hard-earned money? To find out if it's worth it, we need to know three things. How good is the build construction? Is it sharp? Will it survive the dishwasher?
You can check out the knife on Amazon if you’d like: amzn.to/3VEibfa
At the time of recording, this knife cost $0.01 + $10 shipping, I noticed that the price has been going all over the place, at the time of posting this video the price is now $6.99 + $10 shipping.

The plunge lock is not the only thing that keeps the blade from opening too far. The blade is stopped by the STOP PIN. You can see it in the shot where the blade wobbles from side to side. That pin must have gotten knocked out by the impact of the blade on the bottle.
Nevermind. The knife performed as expected.

The blade is held up with a pin in the open position, it just got lost during the disassembly or left out while primary assembly.

Just recently I found my brother's folding knife he bought 10 years ago when we were kids. It's almost the same, just a slightly different design. I tried to fix the mechanism but the spring is diformed, I have to make another one if I want it to work again.
I was able to fix his italian stiletto style switchblade though (likely from the same manufacturer), since it has a much simpler mechanism.

you missed the whole reason your blade started over rotating..... your blade stop bar fell out because the pivot screw needed to be tighteded before you used it and that let the liners spread out to far and let the stop bar fall out when you were beating on the knife.

the real question is, how the hell does anyone, anywhere in the world, make a penknife for 1 cent? I mean, even in the poorest country in the world, the costs for production and the material alone are much higher than what the end product costs!?! this is absolutely crazy in my eyes! who can actually sell something like that for such a price? even if the price for shipping - the delivery should cost 500 times what the product itself costs! just saying that makes it that much crazier

I find it funny that such a blade could VERY easily be fixed in design, but for some reason, it's just not. I've seen these gas station garbage knife designs many times, but they all use the exact same wobbly and useless system. It's really easy to fix by just making things tighter, which shouldn't be a problem, so I genuinely don't get it. It's like these knives are designed to give someone a nasty scar. They don't even have to make the catch out of steel, because I'm assuming it's just aluminum. Even aluminum would hold up for one or two hits as long as it hits flat, but these things are designed to scrape the edge off. Also, the safety as well, just needs to be tighter and it would be infinitely better.
