    Hello there I submitted my portfolio at the start of February 2022, if I do not get an interview do I still have a chance of being accepted?

    Hi I’m planning to apply for film production this year, and for the portfolio, I’m wondering if the examiner would prefer a full film rather than a showreel? I’m preparing a showreel in fact but I’m afraid it doesn’t have a very clear storyline. Looking forward to your recommendations!

      Hi! The professors that will be evaluating your portfolio (also called a Supplementary Evaluation) have not indicated whether they have a preference between a full film or a showreel, so as long as it is your original work and meets all of the criteria in the description, it is up to you!
      You can read more about these criteria and how to apply for our Production BFA here: cma.ampd.yorku.ca/how-to-apply/bfa-production-how-to-apply/

    Hey I was wondering, I'm applying for the Cinema and Media Arts program at York so is it possible for me to become a Hollywood film director? Do I need to take instead Film production? Please tell me the difference in order to pursue as a film director.

    Hello,
    I love the video btw. Very informative! However I was still a bit confused on the difference between Cinema & Media Studies and Film Production programs. Is there a difference in career options? Is one more technical than the other?

    • @yorkuampd
      @yorkuampd  5 лет назад +3

      Hello! The Cinema & Media Studies program focuses more on film history, criticism and theory. And the Film Production program offers students studio-based learning and on-set experience as they create short films for their practicum. C&MS students gravitate towards careers as film historians, writers or critics, while production students may work as cinematographers, editors, or other technical jobs in the industry. That said, we have had students from both programs go on to become film writers or work on professional film sets. As a film student at York U, you can define your possibilities :)

    Hi! I was wondering if it’s allowed to give a portfolio with artworks instead of a short film?

    • @yorkuampd
      @yorkuampd  5 лет назад

      Hi Kaie, visual art pieces are a perfectly acceptable portfolio item. If you have any photography that is a plus. Here is where you can read more about what is acceptable in your supplementary evaluation (step 2) cma.ampd.yorku.ca/how-to-apply/bfa-production-how-to-apply/

    What kind of questions can I expect to be asked at an interview ? Also is the interview for every applicant or just for the short listed people?

    • @yorkuampd
      @yorkuampd  5 лет назад

      Hello! For film production, the questions are very general and your interviews focus on your interests in film, and as an artist. The interviewers want to get to know you! You will be contacted directly if you make it to the interview stage. If you have anymore questions feel free to email us at ampd@yorku.ca
