When I did my test years ago I set up my microphone and recorded before and after, matching rpms. Looked at the waveform and used a difference filter in audacity. Clear but subtle difference. Mpg readout on car also got better and maintained the new improved mileage. Not much but over the years has paid for the filter many times over.
All these horror 'stories' are just that, I have yet to see documented evidence to such claims. Even then it's caused by user error when cleaning. So called guides on RUclips have shown people using brushes, pressure washers and even screwdrivers to clean the pleats. Creating gaps and holes in the mesh destroying the cotton 🙄🙄 6 vehicles 300000 miles and no problems here.
Explain what horror story you have heard about having a k&n air filter? There are ppl running their cars without a filter at all and turbocharged at that 😒😒😒😒
@@jessejzRsx yeah man but still.. if you want it to last you a few more years of abuse you’d want to do those little things.. my 99 rexy hits redline every time I drive it and it has 350k miles on it ✊🏽🔥 just do what you normally would with any other car reg service change oil/ fluids ect.
@@jessejzRsx it will serve you well just take care of it if you gonna drive it hard 😜 and don’t take shortcuts if you want to mod or tune for god sakes please! 😅🙏🏽
Remember guys you can’t just get a new air filter without a tune on these cars you will mess with AFR . There’s no need to use anything other than the stock air box it’s really good and the car is tuned for it. All you’re doing here is risking your engine
The k&n sounds really good getting into boost

Oem all the way. Even performance wise. My current and previous turbo subarus always performed better with oem when tuning. Even sound.
Sounds same
Check out the grimmspeed dry con drop in. Filters like stock but more flow and its not oiled like K&N. Its the best option for the stock intake
Does the aftermarket drop in filter void your warranty?
no
Rembered with a Subaru you need to get a tune for everything. Even an air filter. Not a big deal, but definitely something you'll want to know.
If you drive a Subaru yes
K&n drop ins don't filter well at all. I've heard horror stories
i’ve had mine for a year and half no issues

@@donaldgeterjr8180 usually that the oiled filter destroys the maf sensor.
@@Supraifyification sounds like they are putting too much oil on the filter if it's destroying the MAF sensor
Not good to rev engine until it's been warm for a while
The car will be fine it takes plenty of abuse lol
