I have a base model and it gets a lot of compliments. Nobody cares or notices that it's not a Type S. Just put window tint, air intake, wheels and a loud stereo, good to go lol

They recommend retarding timing by 1 degree for every 50 shot. So 100 shot would be two degrees of timing. A modern car should be able to handle two degrees of timing on its own. Considering you have the wet kit and appropriate jets of course. So having said that along with colder plugs did the tune really make that much of a difference? I’m learning and curious. Thanks.

There's actually 6 points you can place jack stands or jack the car from, one under the radiator in the center of the front, 2 tow hooks on each side under front number, 4 points like you mentioned on both side of the car and the final tow hook underneath the hatch area, you can jack the car up from there as well

How has it been running since the 1st ATF drain & fill?

Not bad. Here in Canada in 2020 I got a daily 2005 Type-S with about 130,000 kms or about 80,000 original miles for $1650. Pros are it had a newer clutch, tires and brakes. AC runs quite cold, no CEL. I Body is rust free with just dings and a dime sized dent. took off the stock cat, sold it for $800 and put on an aftermarket cat for $150 shipped. The cons were the speakers and heated seats didn't work but that was just a dirty connection. All power stuff works. Had to do the spark plugs but runs and shifts like new. Some of the paint sucks and has a rebuild title. I also sold some extra wheels I go with it for $370. I think I got a really good deal. My other one is a 2002 Greddy turbo Type-S

I bought a base 5 speed 2 years ago. Haven't regretted it once ever. Just needed love and now it's running well. Getting it k24 swapped soon and also doing all the body work to make it look factory fresh again

E85 is significant when you’re looking for efficiency instead of hp gains. When I made the switch (all motor) my temps were significantly reduced. On pump gas, I’d see anywhere from 204-210 engine temps. Made the switch never saw 200s ever again. 180-195 temps

Another biiiig thing is that the base RSX has the type S oil pump already. If you want to swap heads and then boost, or just straight boost the base model then it's "safer" to do so. The base RSX bottom end is slept on a lot.

this swap mainly works smoothly for type s models only I think… base models have to swap the hubs and everything to type s or others because of the size difference. even then i’m pretty sure this swap still doesn’t work straight up like this and I think you need a bracket to adapt from the stock holes to a new spot for the larger caliper.

So I know this sounds like it’s a great upgrade but in reality you’re much better off getting slotted rotors and some better brake pads. This “upgrade” increases the pad to rotor contact point which the abs will not be able to adjust for and it can actually make braking worse. I went from Stage 1+ to a Dynotune with some couple mods done (DP/EBCS/EBCS/TMIC/Fuel Pump/Intake) + Reliability mods. It honestly made a night and day difference with how the car drove it feels a lot smoother and easier to drive.

I have a 2021 STI, I have no oiling issues, not topped once yet between oil changes. Boost is at 18.2 on stock. Mods done are for most part reliability, and a few are what ever mods - F1 brake light, GS pitch stop mount, Perrin brake cylinder brace, IAG AOS, IAG Oil pan/baffle/PU, Killer B thermo housing, Doms 4th Cyl coolant line, Mishi Radiator, GS radiator hoses. Just ordered the GS EBCS and cover Ill put it on in about a month and get an actual road tune done by a pro rather than doing OTS at least its for the car specific.

Those stage 1 maps are to refine the driving experience on the STi. There are no power gains but you change the rev hang and the drivability in lower gears.

Don't forget the type s brackets and to reuse thr base brake lines as type s are short

dont get stage 1 and expect big results it is worth buying stage one for the accessport and cold air if you plan on going stage 2+ later on.
