How to install an RR-Racing Intake tube for a Lexus IS 2014+

- RR-racing offers a really great intake tube for 2014 and up Lexus IS. To no surprise the intake is seriously an awesome quality piece to add on to my Lexus IS250 engine bay. As for performance the throttle response really feels a lot more responsive and added with the tune, it feels even better. IF you do have a rr-racing tune its best to keep the stock box for better efficiency when it comes to air flow. Hope you guys enjoyed the video don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe.

I tried it.. But the bracket that holds the engine cover was hitting the filter lol

Hey man word of advice, look at your little crank case breather from time to time. When I had mine installed like how yours was it was touching the engine and melted. I put it on without the hose and no issues. Keep up the good work
That what I was worried about but I did manage to keep the filter off the valve cover and elevated so that doesn’t occur but thanks for the advice 🙏🏽
Nice! Going to RR in the morning to get my '17 is300 tuned. Going to get the intake too I think and install it myself.

@@ChrisKheluram well I bought the intake as well. The tune does create a difference. I haven't really got on it too much yet but for the moment that I did to get around a car on my way home, I definitely noticed the difference. I was told that the power will increase all the way as I drive it more but I think it's all the way up. I haven't put the intake in just yet because it's cold lol but I will on Friday. They tuned it already for the intake as well.

How was the fitment on the tube and couplings? Marty mentioned that his tube was a little short and had to split the difference on each side to make it fit correctly...?

How long did it take for you to get your intake and tune?? I also have a 250 but, and 08 6spd. Raffi from RR racing told me it should be shipping out on Monday but, I ordered it them weeks ago. I hope the wait is worth it. I also ordered the chassis brace also.
It took awhile for me to get the intake tube itself about 3 weeks.. they were having issues with shipping and ETA due to some carriers not able to ship on time due to their covid regulations. But I believe everything should be back to normal

Great video bro. I was asking about the sound inside. Is the cabin sound reduced now or is it same? I heard some people say the sound kind of goes away cause stock is routed in the cabin in S mode
Tbh I never heard it anyway unless the short time it was stock but since my exhaust is so loud anyway it didn’t really matter to me
Quieter than stock, but when its brand new it rumbles a bit

that k&n vent filter part #62-1340, how did you know this part is right? you measure the inner diameter to match with the engine vent before you buy? I am just wondering if it fit naturally before i buy one for my lexus because i am going to put a afe takeda air intake soon. thanks

Bro does the throttle response do any better after installing the intake tube with the tune. I just got my tuned but wanna get the intake tube as well if it makes any difference.
To be honest it’s not noticeable but in order to squeeze more out of your tune.. the larger intake pipe will help increase air volume and reduce heat being that it’s made out of carbon. But it’s not needed though

It does but once you mod your exhaust it get so loud you can’t hear a thing anyway lol

@@leojohnwayne1422 I love it...it provides a deep growling sound. Except I had to buy a new rubber tube because the old one was too curved and it kept slipping out.

Just bought my 2017 is300 fsport. Wrapped it recently but now I’m looking to do mods to increase horsepower. Do you recommend an intake system/ exhaust system? How much horsepower will it increase by?
For a 2017 I would contact RR-racing for more info on a 2017 Lexus is300 tune.. from what I know it’s only for 14-16 but I know plenty people that run 2017 is300 with a tune. If you can I would definitely get the tune and intake at the same time. Reason being a is300 is really just a detuned is350. So if you tune it you’ll be able to regain just as much HP as a 350
As for the intake.. when you install the intake you want the OEM ecu to relearn as much as possible one time. Rather then it relearning it twice. But it’s up to you it’s just a personal preference really

For my IS250 it’s horrible lol idk the exact number though I went to PA to NY with a half tank (2.5 v6) and my cousin with his ISF (v8) was also half tank so that says something right there lol

Chris Kheluram Oh weird lol! I have the same intake setup as you with the HPS intake but I drilled the bottom air box for sound like the f sport intake. But you didn’t like the HPS and you want to get rid of it??
Would you really need a tune for this intake or you could run your car with out a tune just fine
You can just get the intake if your just looking for a upgraded intake you don’t need the tune for that 🤟🏽

I just replaced the tires on my 14 is250. Inner part of the tires were worn out and they only lasted me 20k.
I read a fix to get more life is to get the LCA bushings. Either from RR.Racing or oem from the GSF/RCF model.
Anyone done this and can give a review? I'm reading mixed experiences from both
Strangely enough i have experienced a significant amount of tire wear on my stock wheels for some odd reason even after an alignment. I know that the bushing with help that issue a lot, some even say the alignment does helps; but me personally, I think it’s just one of those lexus flaws that needs to be corrected 👌🏽
@@ChrisKheluram I didn't do my alignment in the 2 years I had the car. (Bad, I know)
I think the IS series are the only ones with this issue.
Thats why bushings from the GSF/RCF are recommended for the fix.
I plan to get bushings installed by October so we'll see.

Don’t know but intakes never really make that much horsepower unless you got the air filter mounted outside the damn front bumper lol but it does help when you have the tune which still only gives you the 20+ hp

But you'll gain about 5 hp with K & N high flow filter and remove top filter from stock box and cut 4"×4" hole on lower box like F sport 😎👍
I learned that the filter in the cover (the one everyone is cutting out) has charcoal built into it to help avoid moisture from entering into the throttle body. Is the only reason for removing this secondary filter to allow maximum airflow?

any CEL's after the intake install? mine did..
Not at all. Try disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery and then reconnect, then make sure your intake is properly seated and tighten properly and start the car. I doubt it’s your maf but it can be easily damaged if it’s knocked around during installation. If all that fails have autozone or a mechanic OR buy a code reader and find the code that’s it’s throwing. Then get in contact with RRRACING and find out if they can help you
Our cars ECU’s tend to relearn itself when something changes or alters the air flow during driving. So if nothing changes definitely get in contact with RRRACING

If you have a cold air intake.. reason why RRRACING tells you not to remove the air box is for a efficiency and to not throw a code
