- In today’s video we’re discussing a few possible treatment options to get rid of armyworms and sod webworms in your lawn. Armyworms and sod webworms are small caterpillars that are the larvae of moths. They feed on your lawn and can cause some major damage when left unchecked. Today’s three products come in at 3 different price points, but each one can do an effective job of treating these lawn pests. Sevin and Spectracide can be purchased at basically every big box store, but you may have to check out the local landscape supply store to get your hands on some Bifen (or check out the product links below). All products mentioned in today’s video are child and pet safe.

In the video, I wrote ".8oz/1000" for Spectracide applications, but the recommended rate is actually .8lbs/1000! Thanks for watching.
Man, your lawn is immaculate. I want that!!! LOL, I hired a guy to do my lawn to treat the Sod Webworms and it looks worse now than it did before he started. I am determined to take this on myself and DIY. You yard is a reflection on your knowledge. I will be watching you this day forward and hope I have the same results. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!
Sod webworms produce several generations per season, so you have to treat several times.... I started August 1st when I noticed the damaged but I should have started July 1st.
Like the maths at the ends and common-sense sourcing strategies. Thanks!
Thanks for watching, David!
Your lawn looks AMAZING!
I just bought Bifen IT for mosquitoes and now im glad i watched your video for the worms! Thanks!
Thanks man. You made me feel a lot better about my armyworm infestation.
Thanks for a great informative video. Had army worms big time this year. Thought it was a sprinkler problem. Fescue took a beating. Take care!
Glad you enjoyed it! Diagnosing problems in the yard is definitely most of the battle!
Thumbs up! Nice work and thoughtfulness.
Thanks for watching!
Acelepryn not only gives you contact control but also residual armyworm control.
Duocide by The Andersons is also a great product. Kills everything plus grubs, its my go to. Great video sir!
I do enjoy the bug apocalypse videos I’ve seen after using the duocide haha
Does it matter what time of day that we apply for the Bifen? What if a small amount of rain occurs (less than 0.10). Would you reapply? We are in an unsettled weather pattern but I’ve GOT to treat for army/sod web worms! Thanks!
I always make my spray applications in the early morning or later in the evening. Rain won't affect the efficacy of your treatment.
Great video 📹 👍 I used Spectracide Plus it covers 44k sq ft also used Lesco Cross Check E Z Granular. After a recent rainfall here in San Antonio I noticed a whole lot of snails 🐌 😳 Never had that problem before God do more research keep up the great work 👏
Wow I’ve never had a snail problem before either! Maybe it’s because the above average rainfall we’ve gotten this summer!
How long does it take to see results?
great video....bifen purchased!
Thanks Panda!
Sorry one more question-what is the downside of doing a second treatment ~1 week later? I used Terazicide and Duokill about 1 month ago and yet I see an infestation of worms!
No down side, just split your treatments and apply at a lesser rate.
thanks for the video, but the Bifenthrin is NOT FOR SALE TO AK
CT, NY, VT (Restricted To Licensed Applicators Only), kinda of knocks that off of my list right there.
Sorry to hear that!
Have you ever used bifen inside? I know a lot of people use it for DIY inside too. Just curious.
I have actually. I’ve done the exterior and interior perimeter of the house with it.
Do you have a video about crabgrass you recommend? If not can you make one?:)
Look into Quinclorac! It’s a good option for crabgrass!
Sevin makes a liquid insecticide as well. Have you used it? And would it yeild similar results as the Bifen? My local feed stores all are sold out and delivey if ordered online puts it a week out, so it's not really an option.
It should yield similar results. I would imagine Bifen is cheaper per app, but if it’s not available you have to make due with what you’ve got!
The worms got me! They lawn has been treated but it was too late for most of my lawn. Now what? Should I start fertilizing? Reseeding this late in the summer? Sadddd
Where are you located and what type of grass do you have?
What is your opinion on the “Sunday” lawn care products?
I’ve never actually used the service, but it’s all liquids to my understanding? Is that right?
Yeah I haven’t looked too much into it but see lots of ads and it looks interesting. I believe it a liquid bag you connect to you water hose
@@watts4reel756 so just based on the fact that it’s all liquid, I’m going to assume that it’s going to do ok with bug and weed control (if they offer that), and even ok with supplemental fertilizer treatments. I just think it’s a lot easier to get the NPK your lawn needs through a granular fertilizer.
@@rhettbohannon4385 Thanks for the comment. I've never gotten too crazy into my lawn care. If its green and cut I'm usually pretty happy. But having a nice and easy way of maintaining it is kind of appealing.
I can understand the appeal of getting a lawn care routine in a box, but I do think the easiest, most effective way to have a lawn that passes the eye test with minimal effort is regular mowing and some granular weed and feed!
I like to catch 6-8 of them and put them in a bucket. I then fill said bucket with egg farts and cover for a solid 10 minutes. I then release them all back to the lawn to tell their friends what happened to them.
Thanks I've been paying $120 per month for "professional " treatment 😮
We should have sent these guys over to Afghanistan to fight.
I thought Army Web worms and sob web worms were the same thing?
They’re similar, but not the same.
N.Y doesn’t allow anything that actually good which sucks big time
Gotta love big government
