My “Jerry” style playing has improved tenfold since I started jamming to your tracks! I found that the biggest issue I had was losing track of the rhythm/chord changes while digging in to the leads. Thank you a million times, Jeff!

Glad to hear the tracks have been so helpful Doug! Yeah, I find using tracks to workout the chords or practice the melody can really change one's playing for the better.

Been looking for something just like this, Jeff. Too many other RUclipsrs just want to show off for the camera and forget who it's aimed at.

my problem is getting motivated to learn to use those computer programs. there's some awesome stuff like garage band and guitar pro but it gets a bit overwhelming for a middle aged casual player. not to mention the gazillion phone apps for guitar playing. you do have some amazing tracks on your channel i must say. right now i'm just happy chilling out and playing along. i use your sugaree track to practice singing and playing.

Great Video Jeff. I really like to use markers to create loops of a section to work them. Great for getting a bridge section down on something like Scarlet Begonias. My posts on reddit are typically with your backing tracks. Thanks so much!!!

You're playing on the reddit posts are great! And yeah, setting loops is a great way to focus on a section.

@@JeffWilliamsGuitar you give people awful advice
"Just note search, it's not a bad habit"
"Don't learn the notes in the chords before attempting to play along, just note search until you're ear trained!"
That's not how you define ear training.
If your content is for beginners they shouldn't be learning backing tracks in the first place.
This is where you go after you've learned this stuff.
Shame on you. Shame on your mill strategy for content instead of actually giving the truthful advice.

sometimes I'll just run a single arpeggio on different strings, shapes, rhythms, etc see how much I can get out of 3 notes. and for sure nothing is more humbling than recording your own improv. I would also add, if you're using a backing track from an actual song, learn the melody!

I second that on learning the melody! One of the best ways to get rid of the 'noodling' sound.

I'm looking for an app that is able to recognize and show the key(s) a song is played in. Like a guitar tuner. Should not be to difficult to do. It's al about frequency analysis.
