This series is such a good idea. The subway ride, the walk in the street, the browsing...It makes me feel as if I'm going to a recordshop for real, which is my favorite thing to do on a saturday afternoon. So, thanks to you I can have that saturday afternoon feeling at 10 pm on a tuesday night 👍.
Once upon a time there were record stores like this everywhere and they were much much bigger with so much music you can’t even image. There used to be warehouse size stores like this. Those are the ones I really miss. I literally could spend all day in them.
That was a fun trip to the record store! Looks like it was a beautiful day to go shopping! I saw a Rainbow record that I wanted there. I bought Blind Faith on friday in Vinyl form with the banned cover, great album, had it on cd for a long time. I'm the opposite of you, if it's too expensive on record I get it on cd.

super ballad and a video after I have see the tubes lol great to see Rick Derringer
What better way to spend a day then browsing a record store and getting some items you're searching for. Love going without any clue to what I want so buy whatever strikes me at the time. Nice post, Brendon. 💯
Great stuff, B. I wish we could all hit the stores and visit in person. Like many of your subs, these AOR & metal urbex activities are a tradition with me and my nerdz. Only nowdays, Schaefer Light etc has been replaced by cornbread and sweet tea.
very nice purchases Brendon.I espicially liked the dunhill singles of the Grassroots, but everything else you got very very nice.enjoy the music Brendon
Always fun videos when you go out I guess you already have red octopus my favorite by them you said a few times you like all kind of music are you a fan of the bee gees I am just wondering 🤔 💭
Once again, great stuff at good prices! You touched Fairport Convention's best album and a great Mickey Hart book about drumming! He has an exceptional solo career outside the Dead!!! And as always...cassettes!!! I've said it again, I want them all!!!
It's cool watching you go to and from the shops downtown. I'm pretty sure I have that Edgar Winter album on vinyl. I'm going to start going through my vinyl collection year by year, and posting a lot of stuff as I find it, because honestly, I don't remember a lot of what I've got down there. Now that I am semi-retired, I'll have the time for that. I saw you pull out or show a number of old favourites of mine, and you pulled out one of my top ten records of all time, "Liege & Lief" by Fairport Convention. We are also now in another three week lockdown here in Ontario because of the high numbers of Covid cases, so no gigs for the next three weeks, and no gigs by friends to go to, so more time to spend at home and go through my music collection.
Now is a good time to being going through your collection. During lockdown in 2020 that’s what really started all of this. I was going through my whole collection rediscovering so many bands and albums. I’m still riding they wave now.
Yes, I'm going to do that. My vinyl record collection is grouped together both by year, and alphabetically, starting at the year 1970. Anything previous to that is on separate shelves below, but still in alphabetical order, so 1970 will be the first year I start going through. I have a whole pile of records I have downloaded to go through also, some old, some new, and some new CD's I have gotten in the mail. A lot to keep me busy. I have also begun a new series of videos on my RUclips channel, where I am going through my album reviews and posting videos of them. I did one last night for AC/DC Highway to Hell that took me a good six or seven hours of work, mostly to know what settings to use, what background music I could use, etc., but I think I have that figured out now. That is up on my RUclips channel, under "Marty Murray." I am going to add a second one tonight. Also, I have been spinning Styx's latest album in my car for the past couple of days, and although it didn't grab me at first, I'm beginning to enjoy it now. It's a good record, and I can see why you picked it as your favourite.
Sorry to hear that. Part of why I started filming these is as a document because they are disappearing everywhere. It will truly be sad when the last great store like this is gone. I feel for you not having any places like this to go.
Hey Brendon. I know cd's are your thing, and you're not terribly big on vinyl, but there's this one obscure 70's rock band called Stallion that released 2 albums on Casablanca that NEVER made it to cd. They're a one hit wonder band, and their only charting single "Old Fashion Boy" hit the lower reaches of Top 40. Their 1977 S/T debut is a bit poppy (comparable to CSN, LRB, Ambrosia, Player or Starbuck,) but the follow-up album (did NOT chart) is more 70's arena rock like Styx, Journey, Queen, Jefferson Starship, Boston, Foghat, Utopia or Michael Stanley Band, and it's extremely rare. Just in case you're interested in searching for more vinyl to add to your collection. Stallion's S/T full album is here at YT. Not sure about their follow-up album Hey Everybody (aka Stallion 2.) There are a couple songs from that album here at YT, though.
Glad you got that "Move Along" album. Another good lesser-known track off of it is "Anyway the Wind Blows" which has landed on a few of their compilations. I'm actively searching for the CD issue (I have a very old cassette of it).
love these videos and Love Beach by ELP was the first record I picked up on release day Nov 1978 , I was SOOO excited , many dismiss the album but I adore it and play it regularly . These shops look so much better organised than in London and seem very tranquil places too !
I’ve seen it for a long time and have always been intrigued by the album cover. I may need to give it a new listen and see if I want to add it to the collection. I have other ELP albums but not Love Beach.
Do you already have some Fiona in your collection. I know you're a big Rock Candy Records guy (who reissued her stuff), so I assume yes. I dig her. How much time do you typically spend in a shop when you go out music hunting? And now that you've done several of these experience videos, have any shop owners/employees said that they've seen them? Or maybe other customers have mentioned that your video(s) prompted them to come in to shop? Great job, Brendon -- keep it up!
Yes I have Fiona’s album from Rock Candy. That’s why I focused on it in the video. Typically the albums I’m showing are ones I know, love and own. I’ve actually never had any store owners inquire yet. It’s not uncommon in NYC for people to film and take pics of things. Lots of tourists. But I have had a couple shop owners recognize me from my videos. At that point I informed them that I had been filming to make an experience video of their store. They have all been grateful.
Once again brendon you never disappoint. Great video of you taking us down on the subways on Broadway through Manhattan into the record store. Keep up the good work and as always..keep rockin'
That’s great to hear Don! Always glad that you’re enjoying the content. I’ve got one more like this to be posted for a visit to Village Revival Records in Greenwich Village NYC. That will go up in about a week or so. Just depends on other content I’m currently filming. Always got new stuff ready to go. Hoping to keep it interesting for everyone.
fwiw…new cds i just got in the mail 1) Kansas “Point of Know Return live & beyond” 2) The Dead Daisies “Holy Ground” 3) KISS “Revenge” 4) Significant Point “into the storm”
The crate digging part is so asmr! I have the ELP album. It is not progressive, it is more an AOR record. I have also the ZZ TOP box set. But I would prefer to have the albums individually.
Don’t get rid of the ZZ Top 6 Pack boxset because the mixes on those are different. They remixed them to sound more like the 1980’s era with the electronic drums. Go ahead and buy the albums remastered individually and you can then have the original 1970’s mixes too.

INVU Brendon, I don't have any record stores still open around me, everything closed up, it's Amazon or nothing now. I miss that feeling flipping the records wondering what's next underneath, damn you for showing me this...
It would be like going to the casino to me don't take my rent money with me I got the gold color vinyl of chaos and creation by mccartney here while back no doubt the cover picture is so much better than cd in that particular one my favorite color vinyl so far is Venus and Mars by him half red half yellow real sharp love the clear McCartney to the grass roots are so underated
Classic rock on cd is way underpriced; it wasn't current when cds were issued and most quite limited with almost all now out of print. I disagree on the Blind Faith cover with Clapton's lack of judgment which he acknowledged later.
11 thousand CD's ? If you add your vinyl & cassettes what would be the total? I only have 949 CD's, Vinyl & Cassettes. I don't think i'll ever get to 1,500 b/c i decided to stop buying vinyl & cassettes. Now i only buy CD's from 16 specific bands who's discography i want to complete.
If you handle the CD’s properly (only touching the edges) they don’t need cleaning. But if you need to wipe them down you a soft cotton cloth, see link for best way to handle CD’s ruclips.net/video/7UZFu9OjmCU/видео.html but I don’t have any special fixes for scratch CD’s that won’t play. Only how to prevent scratches.

You’re whole comment put a big smile on my face! I know exactly what you mean. I’m glad you’re finding enjoyment in this video series.
Love this video! As an 18 year old who has (pretty much) never experienced a record store, this was an eye opener. Thank you 😊

I like how much variety is in ur content. It's evident u put alot of thought into ur videos. Great job!
Always fun.
Absolutely! Any trip to the record store is always a good happy fun time.
I should turn my collection into a record store. I have about 85% of the stuff you looked at . I like these videos. Look forward to many more.
Great stuff, B. I wish we could all hit the stores and visit in person. Like many of your subs, these AOR & metal urbex activities are a tradition with me and my nerdz. Only nowdays, Schaefer Light etc has been replaced by cornbread and sweet tea.
Nice trip. I used to take the 2 train to my mom's house in the Bronx. She passed away in June 2018 and I miss her.
Look forward to many more of this videos, Brendon!!! always to go and do music shopping, cool stuff. cheers and be well

I was surprised to see Rainbow's "Difficult To Cure" behind the Pat Benatar LP.

How much was that Kinks “Preservation” part 1 vinyl lp? Did you take a look at it?

that has to be the smallest record store that I ever seen.
Well it is NYC after all where space is a premium.
