He was infatuated with Woody Guthrie. There was some influence there. But, Dylan really grew and came into his own between his first and second albums, 1962 to 1963. His identity was sealed. He was a lyricist/songwriter. I remember, at one of his concerts, Pete Seeger on stage and part of a group of singers, was visibly disappointed by Dylan's singing/playing because Seeger felt Dylan should be an activist.
Zimmerman, biggest mooch in the Village! All those who fed and housed hime, especially Suzy Rotolo wondered why he never reciprocated in the slightest!

I had a friend who idols were Dylan, Dylan, and, Dylan. R.I P Charles Lyonhart, we waited for hours outside Dylans place.........
