    So World's is League of Legends major international tournament and the 2 final teams that year were from Korea and China (pretty much every year is Korea vs China) which is why theyre all asian LOL, but the event is HUGE like I think over 20 million people watch worlds at some point during the tournament, and idk if that even includes China since they use different streaming platforms over there.
    Every year, Riot Games makes a World's anthem, and it's performed live usually, this is the only year it was pre-recorded. If you want to see some other insane opening ceremonies, 2017 was kinda insane, and so was 2018 for that matter, but really just reacting to the worlds anthems music videos could be fun! There's always some hidden stories in the videos that could be fun to learn about and the music itself is obviously always good!!

    Part of the Live Action sequence was something you could actually go to when Arcane first came out. It was a traveling interactive experience for the launch of the show.
    It was called Undercity Nights.
    Think, to some degree, "Renaissance Fair meets Arcane" where you literally walk through the bridge sequence in EP1 and then you enter Zaun. With dozens of actors, themed or replica spaces from the show, timed events, etc. They had Silco, Vi, Jinx, etc. as actual people you could go meet and, in some cases, you had to actually negotiate with because you had to actually join one of the Chem Baron factions and gather vials of shimmer.

      LPL (China) and LCK (Korea) are so successful because of the E-Sports infrastructure and e-sport "athlete" being a legitimate career in Korea and China. It's even government supported.
      Unfortunately, North America and Europe aren't to that standard yet, so players can't keep up. But the industry is getting bigger and even schools in NA have E-sport clubs nowadays.

    • @Vizible21
      @Vizible21 25 дней назад

      @@khazmsbro NA just sucks. You can't say that they have no support because they actually qualify for finals multiple times and yet they can't even touch the trophy. Not to mention even in other games they suck.

    • @khazms
      @khazms 25 дней назад +1

      @@Vizible21 That's just not the case. There's many prime examples of NA winning against Asia teams. Valorant for example is won by NA teams. Look at Call of Duty or.. Fortnite. CSGO, even fighting games like Smash, Tekken, Street Fighter. There's no "inherent" reasons "Asians" are the top performers. There's no genetic difference or intellectual one. It's an infrastructure reason at its core. LPL and LCK "players" dedicate their time and lives to the "e-sport" of their choice. It's well known they cannot even have time for relationships. Meanwhile, NA and EU players do party, have relationships, etc. Because of this kind of environment, lifestyle and infrastructure, Asia teams are competitively playing against each other regularly unofficially and improve (Also known as scrims/scrimmages). In contrast, NA and EU are not scrimming against players of equal skill or higher, therefore do not improve as fast as Asia. This is also a timezone and ping matter. LPL and LCK teams regularly scrim against each other due the regions being close as well while EU and NA cannot due to timezone and ping difference.

    1. Burn it all down, the last song, was the official worlds anthem for that year. They always release a worlds song before that tournament, it has nothing to do with Arcane.
    2. The two teams in the finale, DWG and EDG were korean and chinese. So the players were all korean and chinese. Western regions lack behind a bit, but every once in a while an european team managed to make it to the finals.

  • @papillonvega
    @papillonvega 25 дней назад +11

    Here's some notes to help clear things up
    "Worlds" is the name for the League of Legends Worlds Championship. It's one of the biggest esports events in the world and , like you said, it's a huge gaming tournament. The Opening Ceremonies are the openers to Worlds and is a big spectacle that us League and esports fans look forward to every year. Like you said, the best teams in the world play in their regional leagues to qualify for the tournament and progresses through a typical tournament bracket going from play-ins to groups/swiss stage to the typical quarters/semis/finals. The two teams in the finals this year were from the LCK - Korea's Regional League. Korea has historically been the best at the game followed by China. In general, like you said, Asians tend to be the best at League. In terms of the Western world, their highest placement would be 2nd in Worlds done by an EU team. North America is..... bad to put it lightly and the smaller regional leagues like in South America usually don't get past play-ins. Simply put, it's Asia dominated. Worlds 2023, the most recent one, peaked at 6.4 million viewers and had over 146 million hours watched (not including Chinese viewership numbers).
    The Opening Ceremony is usually live, but because of COVID they opted for a pre-recording. They also matched it to the Arcane theme since the show would release shortly after iirc. The Opening Ceremonies are a big display of tech and overall esports hype. They perform a bunch of songs that are made for League of Legends cinematics (usually promoting the game, skins, etc.). They also perform a "Worlds Anthem" - a big song made specifically for the World Championship and is always the culminating song. For 2021, it was "Burn it All Down" by PVRIS. She appears in Arcane too singing "Snakes" during Episode 8 where Vi and Jayce fight against the Chemtanks. Other than the Worlds Anthem, all the songs here are from Arcane.
    I suggest you take a look at all the previous worlds performances - notably Worlds 2017 to 2019, Worlds 2022, and Worlds 2023. Worlds 2020 does exist but the production is nowhere near the same level as the others due to COVID messing things up. It is live, though. Most people consider 2019 to be the best opening ceremony going off songs and the technical display. They've also featured lots of popular artists like Lil Nas X, New Jeans, Jackson Wang, Against the Current, and in-house k-pop groups created by Riot featuring members from groups like G.Idle and EXO. They won't be Arcane themed, but they're still lots of fun. You can also branch out and check out the cinematics too if you want. Riot's considered one of the best animators in the video game space with their realism and overall crisp animation.

    Right when you asked, "Is that PvRIS?", a certain dancer was showing on screen, and I almost thought you were asking about her.
    It probably didn't stand out for you, but one of the dancers was wearing a "bucket hat". I'm fairly certain that that's Bailey Sok, a Korean dance prodigy, who performed in one of K/DA's single songs, "Drum Go Dum" (intended to be Kai'sa's song, where each of the band members of K/DA had one song specific to them).
    Once you get around to watching K/DA's stuff, this'll be a little callback to that.

    Normally these openings are live and they integrate a lot of overlay CGI and use light projections to join the live performance and in game characters. Some shows were better than others but all of them were made with a lot of love and care (and money). The live audience does make a difference though. Seeing so many people cheer hypes up the matches! This one was during Covid, so no live performances or audience, but they made it special anyway

The two teams you saw at the end where the final two teams to play that year for the world title.Ever since 2013, Riot goes crazy with their opening ceremonies. My personal favourite is 2019! First, love the new Mac Background. The video started & instantly I noticed it (the red is very striking in the cooler colors you tow are wearing & the general atmosphere of the living room(?). Not sure if it was intentional or not, but the blue of the missal and the blue of your partly cloudy moon (does that have a story behind it?) light matches really good. Maybe sacrilege, but I wonder how the red would look if it was matching the pinker hue of the moon.
    There were three different things that struck me in this video: the transition between animation (2 & 3D), CGI, & life action, the musical performances (how hard they went for it), & the story we got between Jinx & Vi (especially since there's no talking. All their emotions were through their body language). Am I the only one who wants Vi to just hug Jinx. Not a normal hug, no, one of those hugs that you get when you don't want to let someone go ever again, one of those minute long hugs that only end because the threat has passed.
    Hope you don't mind, I might Photoshop that later. =^._.^=

    The reason it's all Asians is because the E-sports industry and infrastructure is SO big in China and Korea.
    E-Sports are literally funded by their governments and players get so much support from both their governments and family.
    It's a stark contrast to Americas and Europe because people still think "Pro gaming/E-Sports" is not legitimately a career and the governments don't care too much.
    Although, these days, immigration/visa wise, they're starting to recognize E-Sports, but there's still many issues and there's a long way to go.
    That said.. they're not just a bunch of nerdy Asians. Every "Worlds" there's a storyline with each team and individual player and it's still exciting to see who our favorite will win.
    Despite it usually being Korea vs China (for the past few years), each player is unique and some are particularly famous and well known and can be why we support a particular team/region.
    Also, to clarify.. for "Worlds" a team of 5 players from each region participate locally in their own regions and the winners go onto "Worlds" where they participate against every other region.

    So every year Riot produces a theme hype song for that years World's competition. The song you don't recognize is that years anthem.
    The Imagine Dragons song Warriors was the theme song for one of the World Championships.

    Worlds this year is going to end in November. And the final location is in the french stadium that you saw in Bridging the Rift. Which is only a couple of blocks away from Fortiche. So everyone is betting Arcane going to get featured at worlds this year too.

      The final will be in London at the O2 Arena (or whatever it's called) but in any case, there's a high probability that this year there will be an arcane-themed show

    People of all races compete in worlds--Korea, China, Europe, North America, Pacific Asia, Vietnam, Japan, Brazil, and Latin America each have their own teams... but yeah, Korea and China are the only regions that really win, so if you ever see two teams squaring off with a bunch of fanfare, the teams are probably from one of those 2 regions. (Europe and North America are usually considered second-tier, with the other regions kind of clustered below them in the standings).

    the last performance was done by pvris - burn it all down . This was the official worlds 2021 song. There is also an animated music video for this - although this is not arcane themed animated. The worlds songs usually contain animations about the players(from the final match of the previous year) and their signature champions to honor them. I think your editor probably didn't recommend watching it because it was not arcane themed - but I still recommend checking it out. Pvris also did the song in ep8 when Jayce and Vi fought in the shimmer production site.
    I am a bit sad that your editor didn't recommend the making of worlds 2021 because what they explain there makes the show open even more amazing considering the circumstances they were in...
    In general, I highly recommend reacting to worlds ceremonies from 2017 on - please make sure to watch the music videos for the relevant songs before you dive into the opening ceremonies.
    A short explanation about worlds: The game is a 5vs5 game so you saw 2 teams (5 players each) at the end of the show open. The opening ceremony is held before the final match begins to honor the 2 best teams and hype up the last match (they have to win 3 out of up to 5 games). Arcane was premiered later the same night so this was a very bis day for League fans and Riot.
    Worlds is usually dominated by asian teams ^^ - but 2019 was different and held in Paris ;)

      The playlists they're following for their reactions have alot more, if not, all League related media that has come out in the last 15 years, but thank you for sharing what you'd be interested in seeing them react to! There might be some things we skip over since there is alot of League content to dive into and little time for them to react and film, but it's still good to have folks on the lookout! Appreciate ya
