They're impressed by the realism of the faces in thos older ones, imagine when they see those shots of Pantheon's face
Warrior got me the most emotional with the music, but The Call probably has the best cinematic visuals.
Fun fact: nautilus was a person in the really old stile dive suit. His crew cut the line from him to the boat. So he sank and a sea god turned him into a titan. That is why he is so big with the anker :D

I am almost overwhelmed with how excited I am at all the possibilities that Riot has to explore the rest of Runeterra in Arcane-style shows and films. Not only are there the stories of over 100 characters to explore, but all the different continents and nations they come from have themselves such a plethora of diverse stories to tell. From civil war, to imperial expansion, to ghost stories, to heists and hijinks, to cosmic horror, to love stories, there's a little something for everyone. Or, if you're like me, a never-ending world of beautiful art. What a time to be alive.
Leona in fact has a canon girlfriend and her name is Diana. You guys really should look into their story its one of the best.

I hope the editor included the "Call of the Mountain" cinematic. Super underrated and overlooked. It's in my top 5 League cinematics.

Let me try to explain: there are some cinematics made to promote new champions released to the game. There are also musical cinematics that tell a little about the game's history and generally these are the cinematics of the annual League of Legends season (Also only musical too, without connection to main lore). And there are some with the sole purpose of telling stories about Runeterra. (Sorry about my English, isnt my First language)
Most of the season cinematic are fully cannonned. You just won't understand the lore implications if you don't know it yet.
after these ones in the video, the anual musical cinematics became canon, but they are all over the place, you have to connect some points to understand what is happening and read the tales too

If you want to learn about the full Lore or backround of any character or the world its self I recommend checking out a guy named Necrit he has a lot of easy to understand videos.
Not only is Ryze (with the book and the scroll on his back) a mage, for a loong time people assumed that he's actually the mage that saves Jayce and his mom in episode 2.
But other than both mages using teleport spells, there's hasn't been much to back up that theory.

I love that you're reacting to these!! but tbh there are too many cinematics you may get lost over the 200+ champions since you don't play league. I'd recommend you just go for the season cinematics: Warriors (this one has characters you know!), Awaken, The Call, Still Here. Those are the best ones.
Good thing they've got a guide through the 100+ cinematics then - League lore can seem a little overwhelming since there's alot, but they're looking to dive into a decent amount since they're really excited about this world.
Lmk what League game mode you're playing that has 200+ champs too, I'm guessing I have the abridged version that currently has 167, excluding the leaked champ, Aurora.

The world really seems that big - the Universe page for the League is fun to dive into if you don't mind falling down a rabbit hole. The best thing is that the lore stories are designed to be read individually, so you can start anywhere. Necrit's channel is amazing though too if you prefer the TLDR versions of the stories and he's wildly entertaining.

Just starting the video, so sorry if you'll mention that in the middle of it, but wanted to say, that old league cinematics don't contain any lore, before lore was different, basically people just were fighting... Thats all.

@@Aaniel_al.Meara. haha, the "Summoners"! I miss how terribly random stuff used to be, all the jankiness was pretty fun in its own right and led to the wide variety we have in champions' lore today.
But yeah, the concept of the Summoners (what the players were called in game) probably made the most sense, since before, all these champions were getting plucked from different worlds and time periods - they justified that by saying we, the players, were summoning them to play in the League to decide their fates. Who's fates, maybe the champions' or maybe the Summoners', I forget.
Iirc (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but "Summoner's Rift", the map where the main game is played, is a callback to this very same lore - gotta love it;)
You should watch "The Call of Power". People normally dont talk about it, but for me, it's one of the best. And you get to see a little bit of why Heimerdinger is afraid of magic powers and what happened during the Rune Wars.

Tryndamere, the fire demon bro is cursed with the blood of the Darkin, his ultimate is Undying Rage which is what was showed after Garen stabbed him.
Great stuff guys, hope we see more League of Legends cinematics going forward as the quality of the animation and the storytelling just gets better and better.

The making of "A New Dawn" has some really interesting clips showing how they make the sound effects for the different characters.
In Arcane 2, I'm looking forward to Warwick. He was Jinx's and Vi's guardian who was "killed." Singed got hold of him.
I think noxus is for sure the next region after arcane to explore, because for people who know lore.
Noxus is ruled by 3 people right now, so there take on the council is something more like having 3 separately ruling people at the same time.
But they all act independently
And all 3 are already hinted at very supetile in arcane season 1 and even in the trailer for season 2 we got 1 fast shot that confirms it abit more.
So the 3 leader of noxus I refer to are:
-swain the grand general
-Darius the hand of noxus
-Leblanc the deceiver
Last sidenote Swain in the current lore general, but there was someone else in the past.
So depending on arcane timeline we will see who we got.
I am just pretty sure we are in swains timeline right now

You should watch Tales of Runeterra to get to know the regions, even if you're following a release order, it will improve your experience even more. I'll try to help a little:
Demacia - Medieval Europe inspired, have been in conflict with Noxus for a while. They hate mages due to the rune wars, a historical even really important for runeterra lore.
Noxus - Ancient Rome inspired. Very imperialist and try to dominate other regions, some of the characters use magic and some are more gladiator-like. Has a misterious character (LeBlanc) that is behind most events in current runeterra lore and people thought Mel was her for some reason lol
Freljord - Scandinavia inspired, think vikings, demigods and a family beef that would give George R. R. Martin a run for his money. Has a connection with the void and the watchers.
Targon - Ancient Greece inspired, the aspects are like greek gods and the tribes live around the Mount Targon which is like the Mount Olympus.
Ionia - Asian inspired, ninjas, samurai, monks, mages. Most fanfavorite characters are from there like Ahri.
Shurima - Ancient Egypt inspired, has a connection with the void.
Ixtal - Mesoamerican inspired, jungle creatures like Rengar, a race called Vastaya that have a lot of subspecies around Runeterra. It's a newer region so there's not that much characters.
Shadow Isles - inspired by ancient Carthage, Rome and Alexandria, used to be a beautiful realm with magic until Viego (the ruined king) fucked things up and they all became ghosts, there's something called the mist that haunts people in other regions (mostly Bilgewater, but during Ruination, Viego attacked other regions and controled other champions).
Bilgewater - Pirates, sea monsters, sea gods, demons and ghosts.
Bandle City - a magic realm that only Yordles (fey creatures like Heimerdinger, Smeech and that brothel lady in Zaun)
The Void - another dimension where creatures called voidling and the watchers live, the void is believed to be a living thing that wants to consume all runeterra.

If you're intrigued by those first two segments of "A Twist of Fate", you should definitely put both "Call to Power" (focused on Ryze, the mage) and "Terror in Demacia" (focused on Fiddlesticks, the scarecrow) on your watchlist.
I dont think they will go that deep into Noxus lore for season 2, because Noxus is super super complex and has a lot of people involved just to mention some (Darius,Draven;Le Blanc, Swain (which i think is probably the man who killed Mels brother), Samira, Katarina,Talon,Sion,Vladimir,Cassiopeia,Kled and many more).
But than piltover and zaun also have at least twice the ammount of characters shown.
While Noxus probably wont be shown much in arcane I wouldnt be surprised seeing "next season" (likely under different name) to take place in Noxus showing how Mels family falls and Swain gets to power.
@Dealric17 no no that's for sure I mean in the season that they will release this year, they can't deep dive since they have to close the piltover/zaun story they will when they start with noxus story
Brief background on all champions depicted in both cinematics:
*Twisted Fate* - card guy at the beginning, originally from Bilgewater, friend and long-time business partner of Graves', real name Tobias Felix
*Fiddlesticks* - scarecrow thing with all the crows, old design, now theorized to be the primal demon of fear, along with ten other primal demons
*Ryze* - purple-skinned mage whom many suspected Jayce made contact with in Arcane, collects world runes (things the Hexcore reminded Heimerdinger of) for safekeeping
*Nocturne* - lesser demon of nightmares, shadowy guy with blades that Ryze was fighting with, also fought and temporarily defeated by Lux in Fossbarrow
*Katarina* - red-haired woman with enchanted daggers she can blink to, originally from Noxus, assassinated king of Demacia, canonically in relationship with Garen, sister of Cassiopeia
*Garen* - sword guy Katarina was fighting with, originally from Demacia, elder(?) brother of Lux, in relationship with Katarina
*Tryndamere* - bandit-looking guy with big sword who fought Garen, originally from Feljord, same tribe as Ashe, Braum, etc...
*Annie* - pink-haired girl with teddy bear who is bonded with lesser fire demon Tybaulk (hence the teddy's nickname "Tibbers")
*Leona* - gold-armored woman who was with Ahri at the beginning, Targonian aspect (demi-god) and opposite of Diana
*Ahri* - black-haired Vastayan fox girl at the beginning, originally from Ionia
*Darius* - axe guy with black armor and big shoulder pads, from Noxus, brother of Draven and member of the Trifarix along with Swain and a third person
*Draven* - guy who appeared in front of Leona while she was down, also Noxian, brother of Darius, sort of a gladiator, not smart
*Zyra* - plant-like woman who bound Ahri as she was running, originally from Ixtal, single-handedly responsible for the overgrowth surrounding Ixaocan
*Graves* - guy with big gun who shot smoke grenade at Draven, originally from Bilgewater, friend and long-time business partner of Twisted Fate's, real name Malcolm Graves
*Rengar* - lion-like Vastaya who stood next to Graves and killed Draven, originally from Ixtal
*Jax* - hooded, masked guy with glowing lamp post as weapon, originally from the fallen Icathia, speculated to be a sand troll and holds the last flame of Icathia
*Nautilus* - big, robot-looking thing with big anchor as weapon, originally from Bilgewater, creation of the god Nagakabouros
There’s so many new mind blowing cinematics! I can’t wait for more
I have some small hope of seeing Katarina in season 2, since she is the one who is going after rogue generals from the noxian empire after Swain took over. Since I can't quite pin the time table, I can't be sure if Darkwill still rules Noxus or has already been overthrow, it's a long shot, but I still hope so.

As much as a bummer it is that it's going to be the end of Vi's and Jinx's story and Arcane in season 2. I'm so excited for fans of Arcane and not the game to get to see more to the champions. I'm stoked myself to get to see more champions and their stories come to life.
Like Alex said in bridging the rift episode 1, these two cinematics are just "fight porn", just to showcase different champions fighting each other. None of these encounters are canon, is just to show what a 5 v 5 game feels like.
After a new dawn riot would start putting actual lore into the new season cinematics, if I'm not mistaken the first one would be awaken.
Btw, every year there's a new season cinematic around the first week of January, and also a worlds music video around October/November. Other extra cinematics like cinematics for a new skinline or something like that may also be released throughout the year, but these 2 are the main cinematics people expect from riot each year, the new season cinematic which involves champions from the game and new lore, and the worlds music video which is more focused on the pro players
League lore is one of the best out there! As you say, it allows for a loooot of ideas/content for years to come!
Do you remember the mage that saved Jayce and his mother (and showed him teleportation)? It is rumored that it was Ryze, the blue guy you pointed out as "a mage" (who actually has a teleportation ability).
I like that you started with some older cinematics, and work your way up from there, so you will also see the growth in quality.
Besides the cinematics, I also recommend you to watch, at some point, some content of Necrit. A RUclipsr who is like a walking encyclopedia for LoL and does a great job of explaining things. Even though you probably won't be interested in the upcoming MMO, I still think his video about "The World is already done" is good for you to watch, since it explains the world of Runeterra.

There is a particular good presentation of Kindred’s voice lines with the “On the nature of daylight” music.

If you're interested in getting a quick lore dive into the world of Runeterra. You should really react to Necrit's video "The World of Riot's MMO is Already Done". It covers all the major regions. Necrit is the king of LoL lore and his video are perfect for people wanting to know more about LoL. . While the MMO is on the back burner at the moment, it's a great dive into the world, especially for newbies.
In terms of good cinematics, the latest ones are impecable. Still Here, The Call and Awaken are my favorites.

I think you guys would mainly like the music video's like awaken and warriors. They use some actual lore and worldbuilding rather than just showing off random characters fighting for no reason.
mel mom is just a commander in noxus for sure... in noxus there is no king they don't believe in kings they kill kings because they see kings as a weak person.. so noxus has a 3 leaders Darius the hand of noxus he is the one with axe in this cinematic.. Swain the visionary ruler of noxus and Leblanc the faceless guile..
edit: maybe one of this factions killed mel's brother... because when mel mom said that the one who killed her brother is much more powerful than them.. so they needed to weaponize the hextech
I'm going to second the comments asking for 'Warriors', 'The Call', and 'Awaken', as I think you would enjoy those- they are some of the best quality stuff outside of Arcane from this universe.

Also if you want the fire bears origin story I highly suggest annie origins. The art is inspired and the story is fantastic if not a little heart breaking

You two NEED to watch the Necrit video about the world of Riot's MMO (It has A LOT of information about the world of League of Legends and Arcane, it doesn't dive too deep into MMO stuff)
I really really hope you get to watch Necrit's video "The World of Riot's MMO is Already Done", because he goes into all the different regions and quite a bit of the overall lore of this whole setting, it's really fun!
I know you mentioned this, but both of these videos were made to be cinematic representations of the gameplay. They have no lore implications at all.
There are, in my mind, three main categories of League cinematics.
1. Gameplay (like these two)
2. Lore accurate
3. Alternate reality lore (mostly for skin lines and events)
Some videos kind of fall in between or outside of those categories, but the alternate reality lore videos, like Odyssey, tend to confuse people.
And League loves their music videos. Just expect music in a lot of videos.
These are pre modern lore cinematics. You'll definitely enjoy the lore accurate ones better.

as someone that has been with the game since it was in beta, and seeing all the content since then, I am excited for you two to see ALL the stuff. Don't play the game though... hahah
Make sure you watch some Necrit (The lore God of league) videos too!! they are so entertaining and help a lot with understanding how the world of Runeterra works. I'm not a league player myself but i love the world and the stories they create, and seing more people interested on this makes all of us lore nerds super happy :D. I think that I prefer the second one as well, myself. It just has a more cohesive and complete story than the first one. Like, the first is more a collection of disjointed clips from other fights. Still, they're both awesome! Ahri is awesome, and I hope you guys get to watch some K/DA at some point. I feel like you would really appreciate it.

#Old Summorens Rift story.
These were the simple cinematics from a long time ago! The weremade in the earlier days of the game,before they started really building the lore of Runeterra in detail. They aren't about story. They're just fights between characters to show off a little of their flavor and some of their abilities. The first one doesn't look like it was meant to show gameplay or story. It's just characters fighting random places, with a surprise cameo by Baron Nashor at the end. Nashor is that Void monster with many snake like heads.
