This video is great and it makes me wish Nintendo would make smaller, experimental games more often. A new Warioland or a new 2D Metroid releases for $20-$30 would be welcome and wouldn’t require so much development time and budget. I appreciate the value present in their first party game, but there’s room for more than just AAA 20 hour experiences.
LARGE AGREE! Give their forgotten franchises the experimental and budget treatment. While Star Fox Guard was kind of weird I appreciate that they were willing to try something like that. I had the first Wario Land for my Super Gameboy back in the day (I never actually had a Gameboy, I just wanted to play GB games on my SNES) and I have very fond memories of being able to play that on the big screen along with Donkey Kong 94 and Kirby's Dream Land 2.

I Absolutely Agree This Character has so much Potential he proved himself that he could deliver great games with the Wario Land Series especially Shake it and his 3d Game Wario World This Guy Deserves a 3d Open World Game.
Here's what I believe they should do: It's clear their top studios are busy with higher profile games like the next 3D Mario, Zelda, Kirby, etc., so hand Wario over to their newest studio, Next Level Games. Why them? Because they're masters when it comes to animating Nintendo characters and giving them personality, on top of stellar gameplay experiences. Look at Luigi's Mansion 3 and just how expressive the characters in that game are. Now imagine if they animated Wario with such passion while retaining what made the older platformers work, but giving it a 3D facelift; a successor to Warioland, perhaps.
While I don't think he's necessarily a good fit for it, but I'm always surprised to see that Wario isn't in any of the New Super or 3D world games. At the very least it would help make people a fan of him in an actual platform instead of a spinoff, and be a good test to see if he still has the staying power
I think Wario and Waluigi would be a great fit for a new 2D Mario or a 3D World sequel. Maybe Captain Syrup too depending on how involved Wario is with the plot.
I really love those Wario games, would like to hear more about the wii game, I remember having a great time with it when I was a kid, but maybe it's just memories. There was a couple of other games, that one for the virtual boy which might be the best virtual boy game, and another one for the DS, but I haven't played them. It's worth to mention Anton blast too, an indie game in development with all that felling of our beloved twisted mustache man.
Dude wario land 2 was on a multi cart I got with my first GBC and honestly outside of pokemon red was probably my most played game on it. I'd love to play a new Land or world game to be honest, I think the odd/quirkiness of Wario and Waluigi made me love them a lot more than their regular alternatives.
would love a game where peach gets kidnapped and thne mario gets too and then luigi has to step in only to also get captured only for a toad in a tranchcoat and glasses enter a shady tavern to recruit wario to save them all out of desperation yet he demands higher and higher payment
I haven't watched the video yet but FINALLY someone else who knows about Wario Land 4!!!! :D I definitely only played a small amount of WarioWorld, I am now remembering, but never to own it properly. Man, I never realized how much I'd absolutely love the concept of a Beat 'Em Up + 3D Platformer until now, despite it seeming like the most logical progression of my younger self's tastes.
As a fellow Wario Land 4 stan, I think Wario World is worth playing. It's fairly short so you can beat it in around 10 to 15 hours. If you have the means of playing it I definitely recommend checking it out
@@wizawhat oh hell yeah! I was talking about it with some folks a few weeks back and nobody had heard of it. Told all of them that it is well worth the relatively small amount of time you'll invest in it, and I recently started playing back through it again in my spare time. ^-^ I'd love to see an indie studio try their hand at making something akin to a spiritual successor! The whole thing just hits that perfect spot that no other game seems to for me, and I'd be happy (just like you) if it was basically just "more of the same"

Found on tv tropes: Anticlimax Boss: In all non-Japanese versions of the game, the Black Jewel only has one phase, and this phase can easily be exploited by outrunning the fire laser attack; unless it traps you in the fire, it won't use any of its other attacks, which results in a very bland and repetitive final battle. Author's Saving Throw: The Japanese version of the game added another phase to the Black Jewel fight that not only broke up the repetition, but was just all around fun with the Black Jewel going all out with crazy attacks including firing treasure chests. ruclips.net/video/Q2QL_tMPPrU/видео.html
Finally! Somebody warrants a Wario World sequel! And that game was developed by Treasure games, and you know quality from that company (despite some generic baddies). Wario deserves more platformers (not that there's anything wrong with WarioWare), and he's overdue. C'mon Nintendo!
Let the fans jump in: Anton ball is good old original mario arcade with original "mario/warioesque characters and a new game set to launch by the same people called Anton-Blast. Its pretty much Warioland 4
While I'm happy that we have a new Wario Ware (woot), a new Wario Land would be very nice to see. IS WHAT I WOULD HAVE SAID IF IT WASN'T FOR THE EXISTENCE OF PIZZA TOWER!!! If you have no idea what it is, look it up and support it. Thank you for your time.
Great video! I can't wait for more Wario Land already! Wario is to Mario like Donald Duck is to Mickey Mouse. He has more faults i.e. he's more human and as such much he's more funny and probably for many more relatable. Also the weird and funny creativity in the Wario games is so fantastic. There really needs to be counterparts like this were the artists/game devs can do something a bit more creative to the expected stuff in the biggest Nintendo franchises. Nintendo desperately needs some sort of budget line of games or some such where they can experiment more.
Wario Land 3 is a fucking masterpiece, I used to spend a LOT of time as a child away from home and apart from pokemon, no game has come close to how much I've played this gem.
I appreciate seeing someone praising Wario Land. To me, this franchise is better than Mario's franchise, overall, because of how original and creative and challenging it was. I was upset when Wario Ware was announced for Switch. I still got it but, like, I really wanted the next Wario platformer and this made me sad. Also, I was curious why Wario, Master of Disguise wasn't covered. Great vid!

It always surprises me when people call Wario Land 4 the best Wario game- it's fantastic, don't get me wrong, but the gameplay felt like such a step back from the original trilogy, and the game is so damn short- I finished it in just a single evening as a kid when I first got it, and that was even back when I didn't have as many games and tried to really make them last, so it felt super disappointing after the absolutely incredible Wario Land 3. Also- you mention not knowing where to go in Wario Land 3- there's a literal hint system that tells you exactly which level to go to next for progression, so that one's kinda on you, and not really fair as a critisism. But yeah- we 1000% need more Wario Land games! I've been saying this for years!
Wario & Donkey Kong are amazing platformers that are criminally underrepresented. WL1 will forever be a favourite, and Shake It! Is amazing!! (WarioWorld is entertaining in its silliness) Would love to see Wario as a villain for Mario again as in MarioLand2, was awesome.
In my opinion Wario Land: Shake It!(or Shake Dimension) was proper sequel of Wario Land series, but i generally agree with everything else you said. Wario as character will turn 30 in October this year and in Januray 2024 we will have the 30th anniversary of first Wario Land game. Lets hope that Nintendo will remember and will give us at least Switch port for those games.
Wario Land 2 actually had two releases worldwide there was also an original Game Boy Release in early 1998 then a Game Boy Color Version was released the next year. Also Check out Pizza Tower it's clearly inspired by Wario Land 4.
@@wizawhat I feel it’s overhated, personally, though I haven’t replayed it since 2012. I appreciate that it gives Wario a legit storyline and characters to meet and compete against. The soundtrack is also excellent. I’d say if you don’t mind the usual DS Touch Screen gimmicks, it’s worth a try.

@@wizawhat unfortunately Game Freaks's annual-release-grind has always been this way and you can see the "things that should have had more work but we had no time" in all of em, even if the recent ones have more glaring issues As for the rest of Nintendo, no notes, they don't have the same crunch issue
@@wizawhat I believe it's on wii u eshop for 20 if you wanna get it easy. Otherwise the game is around 15 bucks for a used physical copy. I rented it from blockbuster as a kid and played the hell outta it. One of the few games I remember renting a few times just to play more.
Its a shame Wario was pushed only on gameboy and they didn't make a full on Wario World game in this style like Super mario world back then. The newer Warioware games are really fun but I would love a full on Wario World game. Yoshi and Luigi have their own games, its about time Wario got an actual action game on a big system. Switch would be PERFECT for a big Wario game. If not Super Mario World style than they should do a Wario game in Mario 64/Luigis Mansion style. Wario is one of the more interesting mario characters and they could really build on his story.

Hey man I found your video on reddit it was great and informative!! got me wanting to play some Wario games
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
2023 here, WE DID! LETS GO!
YOU FORGOT WARIOLAND SHAKE IT & VIRTUAL BOY WARIOLAND
This is 2 years old
I love you man, warioland 3 may be one of my favourite games
Everyone wants more Wario... but no one wants more Waluigi 💔🏆👑😭💜
I want more Waluigi!!!
If he were in those games I'd be locking in Wario before anyone else can
I really love those Wario games, would like to hear more about the wii game, I remember having a great time with it when I was a kid, but maybe it's just memories. There was a couple of other games, that one for the virtual boy which might be the best virtual boy game, and another one for the DS, but I haven't played them. It's worth to mention Anton blast too, an indie game in development with all that felling of our beloved twisted mustache man.
Wow, fantastic video. Love listening!
same on the whole growing up with Wario Land 3
definitely added to my big brain today
I’m here from the future with news.
I'm definitely getting that new Wario Ware game
Dude wario land 2 was on a multi cart I got with my first GBC and honestly outside of pokemon red was probably my most played game on it. I'd love to play a new Land or world game to be honest, I think the odd/quirkiness of Wario and Waluigi made me love them a lot more than their regular alternatives.
If you loved Wario Land 2, DEFINITELY recommend checking out Wario Land 4
would love a game where peach gets kidnapped and thne mario gets too and then luigi has to step in only to also get captured only for a toad in a tranchcoat and glasses enter a shady tavern to recruit wario to save them all out of desperation yet he demands higher and higher payment
"[Wario Land 4] a sequel is made more of the same"
Wario Land 4 Parallel World, romhack reinventing all levels and even bosses. We have a S-Hard too
Someone should be paying this man for these ideas
Quick, someone @ Nintendo
I haven't watched the video yet but FINALLY someone else who knows about Wario Land 4!!!! :D
I definitely only played a small amount of WarioWorld, I am now remembering, but never to own it properly.
I'd love to see an indie studio try their hand at making something akin to a spiritual successor! The whole thing just hits that perfect spot that no other game seems to for me, and I'd be happy (just like you) if it was basically just "more of the same"
@@TheNerdySimulation The Reason why Wario Land was created too being with is that Nintendo R and D 1 wanted to make a platformer that works on a Gameboy. However Nintendo R and D 1 was shutdown once the gameboy Advance was finished. Without R and D 1, Nintendo no longer sees a use for Wario Land compared to Mario.
Found on tv tropes:
Anticlimax Boss: In all non-Japanese versions of the game, the Black Jewel only has one phase, and this phase can easily be exploited by outrunning the fire laser attack; unless it traps you in the fire, it won't use any of its other attacks, which results in a very bland and repetitive final battle.
Author's Saving Throw: The Japanese version of the game added another phase to the Black Jewel fight that not only broke up the repetition, but was just all around fun with the Black Jewel going all out with crazy attacks including firing treasure chests.

Wow this version is so much better! What were they thinking with the international release?
The day I'll get to hear _"WELCOME TO WARIO WORLD... _*_TWO!_*_ WAHAHAHAHA!"_ is the day I can die happy
Are you fucking kidding me. Had no idea Wario was so cool.
Real gem of a video dude, niceeee work!
Wario is super cool, thank you!
I would’ve loved your take on Wario Master of Disguise
Finally! Somebody warrants a Wario World sequel! And that game was developed by Treasure games, and you know quality from that company (despite some generic baddies).
Wario deserves more platformers (not that there's anything wrong with WarioWare), and he's overdue. C'mon Nintendo!
That's what I'm talking about!
dude the warioworld forest theme is so equivocally wario
It's always baffled me that Waluigi never even gets as much as a cameo in the Wario games, let alone use him for something creative like that!
I had no idea Wario world existed, wow.
Let the fans jump in: Anton ball is good old original mario arcade with original "mario/warioesque characters and a new game set to launch by the same people called Anton-Blast. Its pretty much Warioland 4
virtual boy wario land 4
Hey, my favorite game character! But holy forgot the DS game, Wario, a master in discuise. Loved it too.
I need more Wario World in my life. I love that game so much
While I'm happy that we have a new Wario Ware (woot), a new Wario Land would be very nice to see. IS WHAT I WOULD HAVE SAID IF IT WASN'T FOR THE EXISTENCE OF PIZZA TOWER!!! If you have no idea what it is, look it up and support it. Thank you for your time.
he forgot Donkey Kong as a staple Nintendo franchise
Awesome vid man! I always love me some Wario goodness
Same here, thanks!
I adore your idea of a Wario and Waluigi coop beat 'em up.
Would love to see that happen.
As someone who never had a chance to play any of Wario's platform games, I'd LOVE it if they were available on the switch!!!
They're good. Trust me. WAHAHAHAHA!
@@austinwthompson45 We have Wario Land 3 but that's it.
@@orangeslash1667 i mean all Wario games in general
Great video! Keep it up!
hey, you should try pizza tower and antonblast
Playing Pizza Tower right now!
Wario and Waluigi both need games 😫
I appreciate seeing someone praising Wario Land. To me, this franchise is better than Mario's franchise, overall, because of how original and creative and challenging it was. I was upset when Wario Ware was announced for Switch. I still got it but, like, I really wanted the next Wario platformer and this made me sad. Also, I was curious why Wario, Master of Disguise wasn't covered. Great vid!
I don't have much of an opinion on Master of Disguise, never played it and I've heard it was little more and a mediocre entry, but I have gotten a few comments about it since making this video. Thanks!
@@wizawhat No prob! I never played or heard of Master of Disguise myself until not long ago. I was just surprised, after locating this video, that it wasn't brought up here. But I guess I know why now. Again, thank you for this video. Me and a friend of mine as huge Wario Land fans, but especially me. I played them all. From buying Wario Land, to having been loaned 2 and 3 from other friends, to buying 4. I hope Nintendo can go back to Wario platformers. Or even just port the series to Switch. I'm such a Stan I'll buy them again.
@@QBFOJustin The Reason why Wario Land was created too being with is that Nintendo R and D 1 wanted to make a platformer that works on a Gameboy. @@orangeslash1667 tbh im not sure that makes any sense. I dont think wario was the only platformer for the system.
@@QBFOJustin yeah but weren't any original Mario games on the gameboy after Mario Land 2 the 6 golden Coins. Which is where Wario made his Debut. We didn't get an original Mario game till New Mario bros DS.
The other reason is that Nintendo R and D 1 was struggling when making Mario Land wanted focus on something they made. ruclips.net/video/XOKa2GXiCgw/видео.html
Tip for ya that I know is late but worth mentioning, the Temple in wario land 3 if you went to it would tell you where to go
We really need more Wario Land games
Pizza tower is an indie game much like the wario land games that I think y'all would love :)
Looks interesting, might have to check it out!
Ps, a Wario All Stars game would certainly bring in tons of new fans familiar with him from Kart&sport games.
4 was great. but i loved all the gameboy versions
Damn right I do!
The forgotten great game Virtual Boy Wario Land is the predecessor of 4.
There's also master of disguise that you haven't mentioned
But what do you think of Wario: Master of Disguise?
Haven't played it, haven't heard good things
@@wizawhat I feel it’s overhated, personally, though I haven’t replayed it since 2012. I appreciate that it gives Wario a legit storyline and characters to meet and compete against. The soundtrack is also excellent. I’d say if you don’t mind the usual DS Touch Screen gimmicks, it’s worth a try.
Wario needs more games because he's the best.
That's it, that's the video.
Right at the start of the video, a line popped out at me
"If Nintendo were to direct their focus into solely pumping out new additions, these franchises would lose that luster and special feeling"
*looks at pokémon, one of your three examples
Oops! They have been doing exactly that, with their strict schedule of annual games
Yeah, not gonna lie, I haven't been too pleased with Nintendo's releases the past couple of years since I made this video
@@wizawhat unfortunately Game Freaks's annual-release-grind has always been this way and you can see the "things that should have had more work but we had no time" in all of em, even if the recent ones have more glaring issues
As for the rest of Nintendo, no notes, they don't have the same crunch issue
How you gon forget Wario land shake it? That shit, waggle controls aside, is pretty great iirc
I've learned through uploading this video that I need to play Wario Land Shake It
@@wizawhat hell yea lol
@@wizawhat I believe it's on wii u eshop for 20 if you wanna get it easy. Otherwise the game is around 15 bucks for a used physical copy. I rented it from blockbuster as a kid and played the hell outta it. One of the few games I remember renting a few times just to play more.
This guy needs more attention
So many great dormant Nintendo IPs...
I know right? It's so sad. I'm begging Nintendo to bring back Wario, Star Fox, Metroid, Pikmin, and F-Zero
I guess you kinda got your wish.
How ?
Its a shame Wario was pushed only on gameboy and they didn't make a full on Wario World game in this style like Super mario world back then. The newer Warioware games are really fun but I would love a full on Wario World game. Yoshi and Luigi have their own games, its about time Wario got an actual action game on a big system. Switch would be PERFECT for a big Wario game. If not Super Mario World style than they should do a Wario game in Mario 64/Luigis Mansion style. Wario is one of the more interesting mario characters and they could really build on his story.
Wario Land 4 is a masterpiece
