I upgraded and bought a barely used 40 gallon tank with a stand, cover, light, heater, filter, and other accessories all for $70. I’m still so happy about it!! 😭🙏🏼 now I’m getting into/studying corals, i just been having live rocks for 2 years.
A question form a guy that have done some freshwater setups (so probably a stupid question) do you sees the tank with food to get the cycle started. So the bacteria that you added have something to feed on. Or is it enough in the live sand and rocks. I’m wondering cuz I’m about to buy my first saltwater and trying to get as much info as possible. Thanks for a great video.
Great vid, I’ve never had saltwater tank and am finally going through with it and I decided I wanted to go with a 15 gallon, and do a pair of clowns, do you think you could go in depth with the cycle process and what corals to add for those new to it, along with if you think you should add fish first or coral? Thanks!
Yeah we are definitely going to be stocking this tank and filming every step of it! You can also watch some of my older videos. I set up a water box tank for my friend and we stocked it. I would say add the fish first to create the nitrates from the fish poop that the coral use to grow!
If this wasn’t sponsored by Top Shelf I’d say he owes you 🤪 Great video! It was fun to watch you set this up and honestly cool to see the cost of everything too
Honestly depends on the size of the fish. I wouldn’t do more than 4 but it all depends on the bio load. You can have as many corals that fit in the tank
ai primes burn the lens even on recommended intensity I'm going with the new pixel from lllumagic cheaper and lens don't burn up you may not get the the fancy app but Im not replacing a light every year
I’m pretty sure taking rock from the ocean is illegal. But it might depend on where you live. I wouldn’t recommend doing it because you don’t know what pests or other microorganisms you are introducing into your aquarium.
There are ways of doing it cheaper but this is the cheapest way to do it with the best equipment. You can do it cheaper but the quality of the equipment won’t be as good. The saltwater hobby is so expensive and I wish it would be cheaper

From what I’ve always been told, and taught is that you want to leave that water in the bag and put it in the tank for the good bacteria

Nice!!! That’s a great start. You definitely gotta get into corals. Good luck with your reefing journey let me know if you have any questions!
Do you guys sell the live rock formation for that 15 gal you set up in this video ?
Would I be able to use my 75 gallon tank that I have freshwater in for a saltwater setup? Or do you recommend starting with a new tank
Wow wish you guys had your shop here in Southern California love the video didn't know it could be that easy.

How many rocks in total do you have and weight? I just bought everything for this setup. So I need the tree and 1 more arch?
Yes it was 1 tree kit and we added an arch
I believe it was 7.5 pounds roughly

You can put food in the help with the cycle but I would say there is enough in the live sand and rocks
Thank you for watching and thanks for the question. That’s awesome that you are starting your first saltwater tank. Good luck, it is so much fun!!!!
Great video! Super helpful!

Is this a blue marine reef?
Do you sell the life rock tree on your online store? Do you have any in stock?
Great video thanks!!!

Would love to get this as my first tank but I live in the uk 😕

Thank you! No it was not sponsored
Agreed!
Around how many corals and fish fit in a 15g tank? I am leaning towards building my own 29g tank with tempered glass but I’m still deciding.

@@colsonscritters thank you so much for your response

We make it!
@@colsonscritters how do u make it
@@silversixcreations you get RO/DI water (or distilled water) and mix with reef salt. Not table salt!
Yep 💥 i soak, rinse my sand in salt water

What salt mix do you use?
For this setup we used Reef Crystals but typically we will use the Red Sea Classic Salt
@@colsonscritters ok thank you
Mine cycled in 5 days with turbo start live bacteria 🎉
Wow!!! Quick cycle for sure 💪
Can I buy this online ?
Not yet but I’m talking to my boss about getting them on our website!
What rock was that used in this tank?
We used a caribsea nano tree kit
I would trade the coral in and keep the fish
Blake and Der’s origin story
Gosh!! It’s expensive to have just that small Aquarium? 😢

That isnt budget
That's actually VERY budget friendly, seeing as how expensive this hobby can get, this seems very entry level cost, to he honest.
For a saltwater tank? It absolutely is.
I agree. I've done reefs that are much more budget-friendly
He looks like heath ledger
Tracy’s don’t protect your tank from aiptasia. Just saying
There’s no such thing as a budget build. Budget just means $1000 because even building my own tank from scratch still cost more than a grand.
