As noob, appreciate how you guys explained what every tool is. Many videos just briefly go throught it or don’t even go through it at all. It is intimidating. The first component to anything, is understanding why we need it

Nice tour of Nima’s store. I’ve been there a couple times and he has a nice variety of corals & dry goods. I’ve seen Jimmy on several videos with Aquarium co-op which he did a great job and I’m happy to see him switch over to the salt water side. Glad you gave Jimmy some good advice Shawn.

Really interesting you say that your frozen food is better in terms of nutrients to the tank than the dried. I’ve always been told that if you can get them on to dried, it’s packed with goodness and much better for the tank as a whole, with all the frozen ‘juice’ which melts and gets dispersed into the water system, rising your phosphates etc.

He is totally right. You could totally buy the tank stand and return pump. Next buy your rock and sand. Once you have that bought. Drop a piece of shrimp in the tank to start the cycle. It buys you a month to 2 months to get the rest of the equipment before the cycle is even done.

    • @rajgill7576

I set mine up for $60 today. $18 2 gal brand new reef tank pump and lamp off eBay( this was what made this possible). $18 live sand, $15 bacteria. $8 for 4 gallons of precycled seawater from the shop. $59 total
Letting it cycle as it's all cloudy right now. Setup is small enough that the fluorescent light will get me up to temp in a day or 2. Gonna go get 3 or r soft corals when the water clears. Dope ass marine setup from scratch under $100. Soft coral frags are $10 a pop at my local shop.
I'm no expert, it's my first time doing marine and I could fail real bad, but it can be done cheap... ish xD. Oh yea another $20 for a 5w tank heater and salinity meter
