      Hi Michael, I have completed this build and thank you . I can not get the mid boost to work at all. Funny thing is I built one before and no problems > Have you any ideas why this could be happening? Could it be an earth fault > Wired it twice with all new components .still no boost ! guitar works perfectly without the boost >Really strange ?

      Sounds not good. Sorry- I don’t think I can contribute with anything you haven’t thought of. Really hope you find the solution. The grounding thing sounds plausible. 😳

    That's a great idea. Lovely workmanship too. I have an 89 strat that I added the mid boost circuit to, and I quite like it. It pushes the front end of my tube amp in a really nice way. It sounds better and hotter than a tube screamer. Groovy.

    Hello Michael, - 🎸🎶I see this modification is beyond my resources and experience, its new to me as I've become a guitar collector during Covid-10. I came across a RUclips video of someone demonstrating this Awesome upgrade, after hearing the before and after I was hooked on it. Your presentation and eye to detail has been the best I've seen. So next summer, I'd like to fly from 🗽 New York to meet you and be maybe your 1st customer. Watching you meticulously step by step is a great learning experience. QUESTION, is this just a Fender thing, OR, has this been also applied to Les Paul's and other brands as well. Seeing your passion and care to each step is most appreciated. If not, well its been great to meet you today. Best to you, Jim

      Hi Gabo, thanks so much for watching 😃🙏🏻, I’m not sure I understand what you mean but I you could install a push-pull pot as volume/boost. The only issue would be how much space you have to work with in the cavity. It’s pretty tight in there. 😉

  • @fenson6738
    @fenson6738 Год назад +3

    Hi. I think there is a big issue with your wiring.
    You chose to reverse the phase on the bridge pickup so you should have separated its baseplate from the pickup's negative wire ( and create a dedicated grounding wire ) or , when you will switch the phase, the baseplate (and the bridge as it is connected to, and traditionnally grounded by, the pickup mounting screws ) will become the "hot" too.
    It would be better to choose the neck humbucker to do that as it has modern wire.
    One more thing, I noticed that "white roll" copper foil have generally non-conductive adhesive (contrary to green ones), so the pickguard shielding could not be efficient. Did you checked about that ?

    • @MichaelLagerstedt
      @MichaelLagerstedt  Год назад

      Thanks for a great comment Fenson. The copper foil adhesive is conductive. It’s very apparent in my next video. But your comment on the phase switch I’m not sure about. I can’t really wrap my head around it. All I know is that it seems to work. But thanks so much for your comment… I will check out one more time if something should be wrong with it 🙏🏻😃👍

    • @fenson6738
      @fenson6738 Год назад +3

      @@MichaelLagerstedt To reverse the phase of the pickup you need to swap the connections , start and end, of its winding. Parts of some pickups (baseplate, metal cover) are grounded by being connected with one end of the pickup winding. So when you swap the connections, these parts become connected to the hot wire. It's problematic due to the fact that these parts are normally grounded because they are source of noise (EMI). It's all the more problematic when the bridge become connected to the "hot" too, as it's normally grounded to cancel all the EMI your body can pick up.
      It's also why you can only change the phase with vintage braided humbuckers by flipping a magnet.

    • @MichaelLagerstedt

    Hello, Michael! One question about the booster. I made for myself two AS Teles (one with tremolo), by a luthier. I used the Eric Clapton mid boost kit. And in both happens that when I activate the effect sounds too loud. Even in Zero sounds louder than the regular volume at ten. It does not begin in equal and then increase. Do you have any answer about it? Thanks in advance!

    • @MichaelLagerstedt
      @MichaelLagerstedt  Год назад +1

      Hi Marcelo. Great to hear from someone who has tried this also. I have to say that I experienced the same thing. The boost is not starting at zero at all. But I quite like that. I’m sorry I can’t give you a solution to that but if you find one please let me know.

    Are you sure that Andy Summers use the same booster that Eric Clapton's booster mid boost is circuit is because I think it's a different type of mid boost circuit that is completely different from the Eric Clapton mid boost circuit if there's any way to try to look that up or clarify that hit me back up in the comments thanks

    • @MichaelLagerstedt
      @MichaelLagerstedt  Год назад

      Hi wayne.
      It wasn’t the EC boost Andy Summers had in his tele. But it’s close enough for me.
      There’s something called the stratoblaster by Alembic that comes up in forums when people talk about the AS Tele:
      www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=76879.msg630033#msg630033
      I’m not a purist in that way. I have been down that rabbit hole and thought about using the stratoblaster but I was offered the EC boost by TAD for free so I went with it.
