  • This is an inexpensive way to easily add remote control to your shop's dust collector or dust control system, fume hood, filter or filtration unit. This comes with receivers for 3 devices, one remote transmitter. It will handle 15 amps at 110 volts so it is useful for most shop equipment.

    Hey, I just have to say THANK YOU for this great idea. I had purchased several other, far more expensive, remote units and none were successful, especially for the money. I purchased one of the outdoor remotes as you suggested and, well, wow. Simple is best. I used some Velcro to attach the remote to the switch on my table saw (painted the off switch red, to make it easy to identify) and this thing just works... for $12 too! (and to the question below, about using on on a 1.5 HP dust collector, it handles my Shop Fox unit with no trouble at all, unlike some of the more expensive units, rated for higher amps, that would not).

      Thanks for watching, George! I appreciate your feedback too. So far, my remote has been working just fine. I've had it for a couple of years or so. Thanks again!

    What kind of dust collector are you running? Is it a shop vac, or is it one of the big industrial ones?

      Thank you for watching! I have a Jet DC-650. I found a freight-claim one online a few years ago and got it for less than half price. It only had a little sheet metal damage, easy to repair.

      I just picked up one of the Harbor freight collectors I'm looking for a convenient way to turn it on. Is yours on 110 or 220? Can that switch handle the current draw?

      Mine is 110V. Yea, this remote switch doesn't have any problem with my collector at all. I've had it for seems like over a year now and use it several times a day. I'd buy another one if I needed it. I think the HF collector is real similar to this DC650.

    After a year of use, how’s it working? Just curious since the Jet Dust Collector has a 1HP motor and the remote switch is rated for 1/2HP. Thanks.

      Thanks for watching! The remote switch I got is rated for 15 amps and the DC-650 is rated at 11 amps max, so I've had no problems at all.

    I am not an electrician, but Can 15 amp cover 1 1/2 hp dust collector?
    Thanks

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching, Lahoria! It will depend on the load. a 1-1/2 hp motor at full load will draw about 20 amps on 110V. A dust collector won't put the motor at full load, so you might get away with a 15 amp circuit, but a 20 amp circuit would definitely be better. If you are running on a 220V circuit, then it will draw half the current.

    15 amps. My Harbor Freight 2hp is a 20 amp. If yours is also does it ever pop the fuse?

    • @dwcoffey
      @dwcoffey  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching! I use a Jet DC650, it only draws 11 amps, so never had a problem with that.
