I did this last week to mine, brilliant modification. Just wondering how long it will last.

Great idea!! That's something extremely useful in a workshop! It may prevent some injuries too!!!

just the idea I was looking for. You make it look easier than it will be for me. Thank you, you have a great accent, where are you from?

Half the time and skills needed depend on your vac's wiring. If it has spade connectors, all you need are a few short extensions like in the video, otherwise you'll also have to cut or unsolder the original cables on top of that. But it's a pretty straight forward and quick mod anyway. Accent wise... thanks haha, I'm from Italy but I travel a lot to the US for work and personal reasons.

how do you distinguish the live from the neutral wires on the switch ?

On the relay terminals they're labeled L N in and L N out, on the original switch brown is live and blue is neutral. I decided to simply add some short extensions to avoid modifying the original wiring to add the relay. This way I can revert everything by simply disconnecting the relay switch and connecting the orginal cables straight back to the manual switch terminals.
