Great tramp, great video Kurt! It looked very cold! I was in a tent last Thursday at Whakapapa Village which was frosted over night. SO know what you mean. The Kaweka range has some nice more open beech forest. That's a huge achievement for DOC to have got that track open again after Cyclone Gabrielle. Good to hear that. I did hear a cost of Gabrielle repairs by DOC of $40 million which is not budgetted for. I was waiting for the square/round bales jokes and I wasn't disappointed!
😂😂 the hay bale joke never gets old mate. Hearing the cockroach story made me remember a horrible memory to do with maggots an white rice and me eating that rice whislt staring wondering what im seeing then to come to realization of what id just eaten😂😂,. Stunning walk indeed, really enjoyed the trip, Those white-tail spiders are no fun at all had a few bites last year, Thankfully not this year.
@freedom_on_the_trail +Lol I can imagine you're quite Over the flavor of rice. Any advice of light Weight food ideas..I've been seeing alot of you hikers do wraps and simple things.. I'm new to such a thing as dedicating to a very long hike lol. I'm kinda winging it in all honesty hoping for the best. Have a blessed week
My standard was breakfast bars (but they’re heavier than oatmeal packets), wraps with PB and cheese, and then ramen noodles with potato flakes and bolting (much cheaper than dehydrated meals you can buy). Not the most nutritious but it sustained me well enough.
Thanks for the video. Most enjoyable following you.
Thanks for sharing Kurt. That looks like a great walk with the hot tub at the end as a reward.
Yeah, that hot tub was nice. Getting out in the cold...not so much!
Thank you for a lovely trip in, might have to add that to the list now xx
It is definitely worth it
Taylor tells a great story, lovely to see you two together
It was so good being back out there with him.

Nothing like a frosted tent in the morning to get you moving! 😂
The end of the video was worth the wait!
I saw those driving in to the carpark and couldn’t wait until the end so I could do the joke. My poor family! 😂😂
