I had the honor of meeting her at her book signing. I was the only young person there. when it was my turn she was lovely; telling me that she once had blond hair like mine. she took the time to speak to me which stars today do not do. the remarkable part is when she became ambassador to prague, I was working for another amb. in Geneva. we were invited to one of her wonderful dinners. I was excited but very nervous, the greatest part when I met her again - she remembered me. my boss and others were in shock and yes she had me sit next to her. after that I kept in touch with her. there are very few people like her and never will be.
Her mother is blessed to have a golden little girl,,,she is very much secured in her mother's arm....no other Shirley come out until now.. one n only in America..I watch her movie many times,so entertaining.
Love Shirley Temple Still Do, God Bless Her Forever!!! Miss Her So Much, I have The Heidi Doll, my Mom, gave me, for Christmas when I was little. We watched All her Movies, Still have some Taped and bought. Have her album if songs from all her movies too...Rip Sweet Shirley, No one will ever replace you ever!!!💖
She will always be in my heart and her movies will always live on ,may parents let their children watch her shows forever, they were so clean and proper ,I hope people continue to watch her movies, just love her still!!
I love this! I watch many documentaries or videos about Shirley on RUclips and there's so many ignorant comments made about how Shirley Temple had such a terrible childhood and her mother should have done this or that... They're sad made up stories. If you listen to interviews such as this one or just read her autobiography you find how loving and invested her mother was in every part of her life and her father too and how they did whatever they could to protect their daughter and give her as normal life as possible given the circumstances of her stardom. In many ways Shirley Temple had a more balanced and structured childhood with good people in it and a finer education than what one sees in other children's lives. It was just different and took place at a film studio most days :)
I wish I knew about Shirley Temple long before now. I just discovered her last month! I recently started to because semi obsessed with Shirley. I don’t know if this’ll be a life obsession or a week obsession. Welp, we’ll see. I hope I didn’t put this in the wrong way by saying obsession.
it’s a perfect time to discover Shirley! With all the stress of 2020 watching her movies will restore the spirit. You can find most of them here on RUclips but I own a dvd collection so I have access to all the Shirley Temple goodness whenever I want. I received it as a holiday present from my brother who remembers that I watched every Shirley Temple movie on Saturday after catechism classes which usually meant he missed a cowboy movie or a Japanese monster movie! That was back in the 1950-1960’s. I don’t have much in the way of memorabilia but I do own an original Shirley Temple doll from 1936. I think more folks should watch her movies these days. If it is an obsession we have, then I think it is a lovely one! Enjoy!
We looked very much alike. My nickname in high school was Annette.......around 1954 or 55 Walt Disney came to dedicate Walt Disney elementary in Levittown Pa. He called me up on the stage set meon his lap and asked if I would like to be on television....could i dance i said yes tap for four years. He gave me piece of paper with his phone on. Said give to your daddy tell him i want you in Hollywood to be on tv for me. My father being who he was threw it way said probably some crook.....so for many years i was very jealous of Annette. Should have been me......But i was not warm, friendly, sweet, bug hearted, etc....i would never have been popular......she was so amazing. Such a beautiful person.......i am glad i didn't get to go....i probably easily would have fell to Hollywood fast living.....as i never had a decent home life...God bless Annette i loved her too.
HI So it was her mother that got Shirley to be called ' One Take Shirley'! Just because she coached Shirley the night before a scene was due to be shot. She saved 20th Century Fox from bankruptcy by virtue of this strategy, because there was no wasted film footage! Shalom to us only in Christ Yeshua.
