    You can see Alan McManus doesn't like what O'Sullivan is saying, but it's hilarious. What he is effectively saying is "I'm so good I can play rubbish & still beat them!".
    To some extent it's true, of course he is playing down his performance but the truth is at his best he's just untouchable.

      I can imagine Ronnie's personality does grate on a lot of people on the tour but his talent and hardwork also does a lot of talking for himself. There's always some merit to what he says. Rarely is it worth totally disregarding what he says. McManus like most people probably envies Ronnie's ability.

    Ronnie's psychological game has really turned up leaps and bounds from what it used to be along with his match play and tactical awareness. Even when he's not firing on all cylinders, he makes it so hard and difficult for people to beat him and get over that line because he's not throwing in the towel.

    • @kwl189
      @kwl189 8 месяцев назад

      @@RandomConversation. That was the point. He always had it in him but either because of outside problems sometimes beyond his control and not having a natural interest in that side of the game, the likes of Higgins, Ebdon, Williams and co would outwit and outlast Ronnie. That's changed since Ronnie started working with Dr Steve Peters and he's world class at it now. Think it's a massive reason why Ronnie is winning these days.

    He just feels like Brando in interviews because although he has pride in what he does, the press wants to always manufacture stories from shreds of nothing, and he’s not conceited like most social influencers & celebrities today, so he brushes off comments knowing that whatever he says will be scrutinized a thousand ways and he hates that.
    When true geniuses like Brando & Ronnie do what they do, and everyone in their respective professions are obsessed with finding their “secrets,” it just BORES them, so they come off as uncaring or inconsiderate, when they’re actually not. It’s also easy for them to troll the media, and they like to entertain themselves by doing this.
    Just give them space, let them breathe, don’t smother them, and ENJOY THEIR GENIUS.
    It’s a unique and special thing the rest of us get to witness.

    I know Ronnie has been doing these post match interviews for 30 years… I’m torn over the way he presents himself. If Murphy had been interviewed you’d get the super well mannered ‘ambassador of Snooker’ type of thing. Sometimes that’s gracious and nice. But sometimes you want a bit of punk rock.
    I have to admit I am getting a little bit bored of Ronnie getting a little bit bored of these interviews.

    • @davidsmith5523
      @davidsmith5523 8 месяцев назад

      2 things. His job was over from his point of view. Secondly he presented himself earlier. Cue in hand. This is not his job. It's a chore to him. When he is out of a tournament. He does the presenting job. In my view.

    • @tonus6559
      @tonus6559 8 месяцев назад

      Yeh I agree with that. I guess my point was that being TV friendly is all very nice, but at the same time I’m glad that we have the enigmatic Ronnie. An argument could be made that it’s not super inspiring for a younger generation to see him when he’s being negative. But hey, at least he’s being real.

    • @JakeLesser
      @JakeLesser 8 месяцев назад

      I question why do we need all of these interviews at all? First you have Rob walker in your face right after the match which is a new one, then bbc studio, eurosport, then all the sponsors. Surely one short interview is sufficient?

    • @davidsmith5523
      @davidsmith5523 8 месяцев назад

      @@tonus6559 Well again a question. Is deflecting pressure and downplaying expectation negative or does it give him s better chance of winning? The more he wins. The longer he stays in events. The more we see of him. When he was striving for performance perfection. He used to lose due to frustration and disappointment in himself. Thus we saw less of him. Which was negative for the sport.

    • @tonus6559
      @tonus6559 8 месяцев назад +1

      Hey I agree with that too - O’Sullivan’s snooker is inspiration enough and we could all live without the post match stuff. He’s got his own agenda and his approach is always interesting.

But he’s so irritating with that last question on Allen v Carter. “I don’t watch anything… But I watched all of Carters previous match and thought he played well”. Tiring. It’s a shame he’s a bit thick. Kills the curb appeal to his genius for me.

    I think Ronnie is drained after snooker matches. Moreso than ever before. So last thing he wants to do is get asked questions from Radzi in this way,( even though he knows his intentions are good and Ronnie likes Radzi but he is alot older and he''s tired more in general I'd say and with interviews. Okay Ronnie can be unpredictable but he just can't be bothered with the same questions over and over . Radzi does his best to try and take the conversation away from snooker like about his fav curry or trainers which is good..At least he tries so fair play.
    But he still has the ability to also make interviews awkward. I don't know if he gets questions in his earpiece, but to say to Ronnie ...
    ' You watch snooker you are a real historian of the sport, looking at carter and allen who are playing in the semi final , how would you assess their tournament so far?
    To me that is a badly structured questions that threw Ronnie and gave a prickly answer. Radzi has a habit of doing that, or stumbling over words. He is a very good presenter but with snooker , he hasn't improved sadly.It's getting a bit kids tv with Radzi too . I think he needs replacing with Rachel Casey. She is a natural and brings a better balance.
    Or replace him with someone new, who is personable but knows about snooker and is not just saying WOW all the time.
    The end.

      He has been set up to fail, it's an impossible job anyway as Ronnie is Ronnie. Yet, Hazel has the experience and grace to gauge his mood and can get him to behave just well enough to finish the interview without it being too awkward most of the time.
