    Hey Jerome, I've just watched this now as around a year ago, I watched your first video putting this ficus onto Budda and I was so inspired I went out and brought my first pre-bonsai, a tiny ficus benjimina. Now I'm back to refresh as I prepare to put him on a rock and give him his first shaping

      Good afternoon, Mr.
      I am from VIETNAM. WARM GREETINGS FROM VIETNAM. I was ADDICTED to BONSAI years ago but up till now I had a chance to make my dream come true. I made my two own CHANNELs about BONSAI. One is in VIETNAMESE and the second which only was 4 days ago in English. I am only the NOVICE but I think nothing is impossible if you set your mind to do. Although I know a little English, I hope that it's the best way FOR me to improve both my ENGLISH but my skills in BONSAI as well.You are professional so I learn MORE FROM your video. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT, therefore, I will try MYBEST to please myself and the SUBCRIBERs who like my CHANNEL. I am NEW HERE AND I hope WE WILL BE NEW AND GOOD FRIENDS. Stayed connect, please.😀🤝🛎

    Love the concept, not the tree! Looks like your turning a ficus into a strangler fig but, the accelerated growth of the ficus for teaching is a great choice. I will follow your progress. Good teaching technique!

    Hi, very good video. Could I ask you why you've removed all the leaves, and could it hurt the tree, can it be done to any type of tree? Thank you very much

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  4 года назад

      Kawada Lambert hi Kawada, removing all the leaves can hurt the tree if it is don’t at the wrong time of the year. You can defoliate pretty much any tree but junipers, pines. Azaleas etc.

  • @Chris-oq6kn
    @Chris-oq6kn 4 года назад

    Great video. I just bought a really nice tiger bark ficus too with alot of aerial roots. Question ,when is the best time to defoliate these trees and also does it reduce the leaf size at all is there any other reason to defoliate it? And one more question how do these trees do in the winter im in n.y? Thanks alot love the channel!

    • @pansepot1490
      @pansepot1490 4 года назад

      n.y. Like New York? You know it’s a tropical tree and you have to keep it indoor in winter, do you?
      Defoliation produces smaller leaves AND finer ramification. I would do it in spring summer taking care there’s at least a couple of months for the tree to recover before the temperature drop of the fall. In tropical climate it’s different of course, the growing season is all the year long.

    • @Chris-oq6kn
      @Chris-oq6kn 4 года назад

      @@pansepot1490 yes new york thanks for the reply. Is it ok to keep it in a garage? If not then i guess it has to go inside. I do have a chinese elm i kept in a garage and that held up through the winter. Maybe ficus is even more tropical? Whats the max tolerence it can withstand in a cold climate? Any info is appreciated thanks! I have a bougenvillea i believe died i got from florida.it didnt make it in the garage plus it was old and had alot of shari and jins done to it which it really shouldnt have on it could have been alot of causes i guess

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  4 года назад

      Hey Chris, everything Panse Pot said was spot on! Defoliating also helps with re -distributing the energy throughout the tree and makes it come back much stronger. You could over winter them in the garage or indoors, as long as you use a growlight. If the garage dips below 50 Fahrenheit for the entire winter you might want to get an HPS light instead as it releases a lot more heat and gives your trees a tropical environment. Here's a link of where you can find both, the grow light and the HPS light. www.amazon.com/shop/wearethebonsaisupply?listId=2WCYQX02QVIAR&ref=cm_sw_em_r_inf_list_own_wearethebonsaisupply_dp_Nk7HHa0Kt31pr

    Do we finalize the size of a bonsai tree or we allow it to increase the size? and wiring is removed at some stage or is it wired for ever???

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  3 года назад +1

      Go Green hi, we start the tree and then finalize it over a long period of time. Wire is removed when the wire starts to cut into the branches

    Im a great follower of your channel an even subscribe. But today Im so disappointed as you have used BUDDHA STATUE to plant a tree on it. For the Buddhists, Buddha is supreme just like Jesus or the God to the Christians. We should learn to respect all religions.

    • @pansepot1490
      @pansepot1490 4 года назад

      Is it disrespectful though? How is one who doesn’t know the religion supposed to know? I thought the Buddha loved nature.
      Besides, is that really a religious statue? I honestly thought it was just an ugly head that got nicknamed Buddha as a joke.
      Religious people should really learn not to take offense when no offense is meant.
