If you have one hot fire in the barrel after you open it all that paint will disappear, just saying way easier and cheaper than stripping the entire thing
My dad told me stories of how the would repurpose agent orange barrels in Vietnam. Showers, mix drinks etc. I suggest you know what was in the barrel beforehand. He's been gone now for almost 7 years due to complications from agent orange.
I feel like there should be a warning at the beginning about not using a barrel that was used to store a flammable liquid. The fumes/vapors last a lot longer than you would think. Cutoff wheel + flammable gas = explosion. Some people aren't all that bright...

Someone never grew up on a farm and had the outside "burn barrel" that lasted 10+ years of burning whatever random stuff that needed burning. It'll last.
it you weld that slow you are using to big of welding rod and the amperage is to high. When welding sounds good it sounds like frying bacon. stoping in the middle of a puddle opens the weld to impurities and a weak weld.

Scrap metal $60 maybe more, welding supplies about $20 time about 2 to 3 hours maybe more, Houston tx done that when I was younger as a school project at the time sounded very good not anymore
Be cause the ones you typically buy are bolted together and come in a box from China or some other slave labor country. And you still have to assemble it yourself.
Stevens obviously you don’t know anything about Texas, there’s several stores that sell barrel pits made by local welders, and there’s a lot of welding shops that make those made from scrap metal and sells them for $50

I like the grill, not to sure about the method and definitely not ok about welding around snoopy. Next time give the mask to snoopy and try not to use one yourself and see how that goes.
Reading the comment about worries of previous fluids in the barbecue pit...LOL. i'd be more concerned about that American meat you eat full of chemicals... and the drinks too!

I'm 51 years old and I remember my dad making these when I was like 6
Damn I got irritated with all those tack welds. What happened to beads.
You ever stick weld on metal that thin, you can get a bead going
Holy freaking farmer's weld..... But hell it gets the job done...
Hahahahha
great job! you might want to shoot Hi Temp primer 1st next time. very good instructional video.

I was thinkin the same thing. Waste of time.

Be sure to clean inside the barrel with water and then pull out all gas inside, a guy here in Brazil died from a explosion when cutting a barrel
Theres petrochemicals inside the barrel walls no matter what. This cannot he made "safe" by cleaning.
Hello. Can you pdovide the measurements? Especially for the frame and what holds the grill grate.
Can you use any barrel?, cuz you know some barrels may contain some toxic material
Craftsmanship at its best
They been doing these in Mexico since bk in the day there amazing grills believe it or not
This grill could use a chimney
Your mom is a chimney
Show us what you got. A smoker has a chimney. A grill is just a grill.
Buen trabajo 👍👌un consejo no vaya a quemar a su perro 🐕
Great Job!! Greeting from Argentina!!

No doubt and also about using paint stripper indoors
Should have filled the barrel with water to de-gas it first.
The guy just wants desperately to get famous on RUclips. His welding is terrible.
How do we know he didn’t do this step before the videos starts.

A farmer did this one town over and we heard the explosion… 6km away. Cowboy….. he lived btw.
Good luck cleaning it after any type of use . Also no bottom airflow adjustment, I wouldn’t use it if you gave it to me. Go with a Weber
what is the name of the stuff your using to remove the paint way better than burning or grinding it off
I want to know too
acetone is what he used dont touch it tho, stuff will eat your skin off
Removedor de Pintura
That’s a great grill. It’s not a smoker.
Do u paint the inside

Great job! I like it!
Excelente trabajo, andaba buscando un modelo para construir una, me quedo con esta para tenerla como modelo, buen trabajo
Nice job but be careful with the dog ❤❤❤
Nice job!! Love it.
That’s a lot of work for something that’s not going to last long due to thin metal of the barrel !
Someone never grew up on a farm and had the outside "burn barrel" that lasted 10+ years of burning whatever random stuff that needed burning. It'll last.
It'll be fine, especially if coated with oil on the outside and allowed to cook it into a protective shell
@@abingham3747 PC hola
That barrel will outlast 99% of store bought bbq's 😅
Mine is over ten years old. I leave it in the back yard uncovered so……
If you put an air nozzle with the trigger wired open into the bung, you don’t have to worry about flammable liquids or residuals igniting.
Is the dog blind now or
Anyone else’s eyes f..ked up after that sparks lol
hey !! ever seen pulse stik weldin...u have now..!!
Genius 👏🏼 simple yet amazing.
Why weld the hinges??? Doesn't look neat
Nicely done
Have you allready used it?
Ничего нет страшней горячего копчения, это аппарат по производству канцерогенов

Good thing this one is not for home use
Que hàn KOVI hân hạnh tài trợ video này 😍
That welding loll
It would be better if only 1/4 was removed for the lid, verses 1/2 of the barrel. This is now too top heavy, and the lid is heavier.
Chưa thấy nướng phát nào đâu nhé. Hôm nào cho anh mượn nhé.
What did u paint 🎨 on uk ? Cheers
Que tipo de corrente é essa?
What kind of weld machine are you using?
arc welder. aka stick welder
Nice work
très beau travail :))
Beautyfull can you make one for me in Holland haha
Good job 👏🏼!!!

Anyone else notice the dog go blind at 7:56
yeah wtf keep your animals away when welding
Great build
Molto bravo🎉🎉🎉
Liqurd name plz
prachtige barbecue
Also air in and out shouldn't be on the same side. Quality over quantity details matter. All that work for crap
Got to be a better way to weld that ….
u can put handle at the grill for easy removal it hot..
Very good, awesome
Perfect 👍
These can be toxic. Don't do this, folks!
Or save yourself 4 weeks of work and just go buy a goddamn $200 smoker
Doesn't anyone know what a bloody smoker is
First explain ... You need to clean this barrel before of this. Is very important or you can go to ...😵 No jokes. Care with this barrels.
What if I like a hint of petroleum in my sausages?

Yea nice, but why go to all that trouble when most of the store sells them for less than $80
Why spend $80 when you can build your own out of scrap? If you have the tools and the knowledge to build one then why not?

Annoying frigging welding, great grill though
Fire
The way this guy welds has me skipping as much as possible
nice, I bit to high for me.
Why is they always half ass these things at least make welds look presentable no cleaning buckshot or slag simply unacceptable

Didn't need to watch every tack weld. Video could have been 4 minutes.
