Bohemienne, no one knows where my story begins Bohemienne, I was born on the road that bends Bohemienne, Bohemienne, come tomorrow, I’ll wonder again Bohemienne, Bohemienne, here’s my fate in the lines of my hands My mother told me tales of Spain I think that’s where she longed to be Of mountains bandits she once sang, Andalusia memory There in the mountains, she was free My mother, father, all are gone And I’ve made Paris be my home I dream of oceans rolling on, They take my heart where I must come, Andalusia mountain home Bohemienne, no one knows where my story begins Bohemienne, I was born on the road that bends Bohemienne, Bohemienne, come tomorrow, I’ll wonder again Bohemienne, Bohemienne, here’s my fate in the lines of my hands When I was a child in Province, Barefoot in the hills I danced once But the gypsy road is so long, The road so long Every day I see a new chance Maybe some road will lead from France I will follow till I come home, Till I come home Andalusia’s streams, Run through my blood Run through my day dreams Andalusia’s sky, When it calls me I feel my heart fly Bohemienne, no one knows where my story begins Bohemienne, I was born on the road that bends Bohemienne, Bohemienne, come tomorrow, I’ll wonder again Bohemienne, Bohemienne, here’s my fate in the lines of my hands Here’s my fate in the lines of my hands -Tina Arena and Danii Minogue, my favorite Esmeraldas. Love for this song forever.
I saw Dani Minogue perform this role when Notre Dame was in London. She was really brilliant - as was the whole production. I couldn't really understand (having seen it three times) why it wasn't fully embraced by UK theatre goers. As a dance teacher, I thought that the choreography was outstanding.
Maybe, but the lyrics aren't the singer's fault. She possesses an incredible talent, and I actually really like her voice. I think the whole "I was born on a road that bends" line may suggest that her life isn't ever really constant, being a gypsy. She has to be on the move constantly, never with a straightforward plan in mind, hence being born on a winding path rather than a straight one.
Voice wise, I prefer Tina over Helena. Her voice sounds younger and more innocent and that fits better with Esmeralda's character (remember, she's supposed to be 16! and her age is actually a key thing in the story.)
Really???? Oh Gosh!! There isn't writen on the description! By the description: French video with English dubbing. Esmeralda: Helene Segara (voice: Tina Arena) Song taken from London cast CD
@BlackMambaKillsBill The Italian versione's the best!!! Zigara, a nessuno io parlo di me... zingara, zingara... la mia mano sa tutto... di me!! and then i'm italian^^ I love sing the italian version! Maybe i'ts for that that i love my langue version:D
@ShatteredxSpiritx Which is why I said "original London cast" not "original cast". It's not a cover; no one ever performed this song in English making Tina's performance the original. When it comes to casts in musicals, it's not a cover when a new performer takes on the role.
is it so important?i think in some pieces it's pretty dynamic, moving like i would like to dance to this song, if Ave Maria is queit, calm this is pretty dynamic from 2:44 to my mind! And sound is like become stronger and stronger it's not only about beauty but about rhythm too!Anyway i feel like that.Especially it's in russian versions(they are more passionate)
@Starlight007 HI:) Could you please tell me where did you get thses songs in english version??I couldnt find the english version CD everywhere!!I even checked the UK amazon!:(( It would help a lot if you can tell me where to buy or find these songs. And I'd like to know the casts in London version too!!Hope you can help me:( Thanks a lot:))
knjohns123 a little late, but you can just search "RUclips MP3" and find a website you can plug the RUclips link into and it will convert to an MP3 file.
im a fanatic if the show... I your stating what I already know... thank you What I DONT know xD is if it's tour at all now or anytime soon? anwers anyone????
I still prefer the Italian version, but the English version is SO much better than the French one. I don't know how some people say that Tina has no expression. I didn't see the video because I couldn't find it, but it gave me chills just listening to her voice. On the other hand, I tried more than once to watch the French version, but I never got past the third song. It was too painful and awkward to watch. The singers (especially Helene) have no expression and they don't know how to move on stage (although they all have marvelous voices).
it would be good if the costume for esmeralda was as a rea lgypsy girl, i don't lke her dress, she looks like a woman who sings, i don't see a gypsy girl singing, but good voice
I like the french version better- I am sorry, but while this cover has a beautiful voice, she has absolutely no emotion in her voice at all- it seems so determined to hit the notes the words lose their meaning...
The french version is way better! Some of this doesnt even make sense- "I was born on a road that bends" really???? And Helene Segaras voice is better than Tina Arenas!
Beautiful song both in French and English.
Bohemienne, no one knows where my story begins
Bohemienne, I was born on the road that bends
Bohemienne, Bohemienne, come tomorrow, I’ll wonder again
Bohemienne, Bohemienne, here’s my fate in the lines of my hands
My mother told me tales of Spain
I think that’s where she longed to be
Of mountains bandits she once sang, Andalusia memory
There in the mountains, she was free
My mother, father, all are gone
And I’ve made Paris be my home
I dream of oceans rolling on,
They take my heart where I must come,
Andalusia mountain home
Bohemienne, no one knows where my story begins
Bohemienne, I was born on the road that bends
Bohemienne, Bohemienne, come tomorrow, I’ll wonder again
Bohemienne, Bohemienne, here’s my fate in the lines of my hands
When I was a child in Province,
Barefoot in the hills I danced once
But the gypsy road is so long, The road so long
Every day I see a new chance
Maybe some road will lead from France
I will follow till I come home,
Till I come home
Andalusia’s streams,
Run through my blood
Run through my day dreams
Andalusia’s sky,
When it calls me
I feel my heart fly
Bohemienne, no one knows where my story begins
Bohemienne, I was born on the road that bends
Bohemienne, Bohemienne, come tomorrow, I’ll wonder again
Bohemienne, Bohemienne, here’s my fate in the lines of my hands
Here’s my fate in the lines of my hands
-Tina Arena and Danii Minogue, my favorite Esmeraldas. Love for this song forever.
I watch the musical i London, beautiful
I watched the London production, awesome and I'm trying to practice my French with the French version
I saw Dani Minogue perform this role when Notre Dame was in London. She was really brilliant - as was the whole production. I couldn't really understand (having seen it three times) why it wasn't fully embraced by UK theatre goers. As a dance teacher, I thought that the choreography was outstanding.
i love that you post these in english because they're hard to find. Although I love the french version the best. Thanks!!
I love Tina's voice !! It's different from the french version, but not less good!
Maybe, but the lyrics aren't the singer's fault. She possesses an incredible talent, and I actually really like her voice. I think the whole "I was born on a road that bends" line may suggest that her life isn't ever really constant, being a gypsy. I Like this version *-*
But I still prefer the italian one... ^^
well ive got the cd! English version starring tina arena and garou (esmeralda and quasimodo respectively)!
Voice wise, I prefer Tina over Helena. Her voice sounds younger and more innocent and that fits better with Esmeralda's character (remember, she's supposed to be 16! and her age is actually a key thing in the story.)
it's not stupid at all, very dymanic and beautiful song!
Really???? Oh Gosh!!
There isn't writen on the description!
By the description:
French video with English dubbing. Esmeralda: Helene Segara (voice: Tina Arena) Song taken from London cast CD
@ShatteredxSpiritx This isn't a "cover", really, it's the original London cast recording.
I couldn't agree with you more
i really like this one
She is preety good. 5 stars.
Maravilhoso! Seria perfeito a ópera completa em mix.
@msxxaliciaxxj I agree perfectly. This version is nice, but the French version is so much more beautiful, not to mention it sounds better in French!
I love this video! But do you have a video of the dialogue between Phoebus and Esmerelda before she starts singing the Bohemienne song?
@BlackMambaKillsBill The Italian versione's the best!!! Zigara, a nessuno io parlo di me... zingara, zingara... la mia mano sa tutto... di me!! and then i'm italian^^ I love sing the italian version! Maybe i'ts for that that i love my langue version:D
thats not the actress singing in english its Tina Arena cause ive got the cd!

Does anyone know where I can watch the whole show but in English ?
nevertheless i like Tina Arena and think she is one of the best to my mind=))everyone is good by some thing=)
is it so important?i think in some pieces it's pretty dynamic, moving like i would like to dance to this song, if Ave Maria is queit, calm this is pretty dynamic from 2:44 to my mind! And sound is like become stronger and stronger it's not only about beauty but about rhythm too!Anyway i feel like that.Especially it's in russian versions(they are more passionate)
@miar0xurj0x it's tina arena !
@Starlight007 HI:) Could you please tell me where did you get thses songs in english version??I couldnt find the english version CD everywhere!!I even checked the UK amazon!:((

Would be nice to have the english lyrics
and may be if u saw like Svetlana Svetikova dances or Diana Saveleva u would agree coz Helena is just walking and so does Lola
Why so few people here ???it’s a pity
anyone know where you can get this song? for download? or purchase?
thanks but its all in Russian
can't read it..

The French version is realy better in spite of I dont understand french nothing.
don't forget the Korean version:)
@inlovewithJLT The french cast was the original, to be exact, and I feel that there is not enough emotion in her voice.
I still prefer the Italian version, but the English version is SO much better than the French one. I don't know how some people say that Tina has no expression. I didn't see the video because I couldn't find it, but it gave me chills just listening to her voice.

I don't understand French either.
thanks for trying but this is actually the french video lol
and korean

it's english, obvious
Not bad, but the best Esmeralda is Alessandra Ferrari
Thinking I'm clicking on the French version, and having a skin crawl to the poor translation.
italians!!!
it would be good if the costume for esmeralda was as a rea lgypsy girl, i don't lke her dress, she looks like a woman who sings, i don't see a gypsy girl singing, but good voice
Jaime Antonio Castillo Chavez But Esmeralda IS dancer in original story……
One of the best song translated among the english versions. They raped "Belle", but this one is very beautiful in english.
@jae149 I agree, her voice is OK, but she's NOTHING like Helene Segara.. not even close..
The translation is wrong. Very, very wrong. They changed it so it'd rhyme. The French version is so much better.
Clearly not
That doesn't even make sense! Look, if you like this version, that's fine, but I prefer the other version.
dont forget spanish :)
