That line “I see things for what they are and not through the lens of profit or achievement” hit me differently. When you stop and look at everything for why it is you realize the truth and hypocrisy of what what people do and why they do it. Including myself because ultimately it’s nothing when you need it.
This band is slowly becoming one of my favorite new bands. "Notion", "Halfheartedly", "Miss Mary Mack" and now this and "Mercy Mercy" just have me mesmerized. Continue doing what your doing guys. I'll be eagerly awaiting the 25th!
the part that goes "I watched the windows shatter as if it ever mattered and for once in my life I see things for what they are and not through the lens of profit and achievement it’s nothing when you need it one of those fortune cookie proclamations that I could never swallow you weren’t meant to see that all the shit I should hold back cuz it’s all in my head and I can see it through your swampy eyes" sounds like the perfect monologue to something

My Spotify confirmed this is the song i listened to most this year. I feel a deep connection to it for a good reason. And just wanna thank anyone involved for releasing it so we can hear. :)))
this comment might fade into obscurity where nobody will see, but this song really had an impact on me and probably even saved my life. i remember finding it when i was in one of the worst lows of my life and was unable to keep myself happy every day. having BPD, i felt alienated from my friends and peers. i always found myself thinking that i was a monster for experiencing such unstable and unpredictable moodswings every day. it was agony to just wake up and go to school or even talk to anyone; and no matter how hard i would try to explain my thoughts and let my closest friends (at the time) in on how my brain would work, nobody would understand. they just couldn't understand the impulsivity, or the inability to receive criticism without needing to have a breakdown. it was at the point where i found myself annoying and was 100% convinced that i was a monster just for having BPD. i resented myself. though there was something about this song that made made something click in me, if that makes sense? i remember it was really late at night (probably around 3AM) before school when i found this song. it was in my recommended on spotify. i already knew about the rare occasions before from another song that i would listen to, but i never heard this one before. i was having a really bad fit and was thinking about ending it all right then and there, but when i clicked on this song due to the album cover piquing my interest, i just lost it crying. i know this song has some sort of other story behind it, but for some reason when i listened to this song it just made me feel heard in a way. i really can't explain why, but it resonated with me. now its my #1 song. whenever someone asks me what my favorite song is, i say this one. it's been like that for the past three years. there's just something so beautiful about the lyrics, the video, the build up to the song, and then after the climax hits i just find myself tearing up each and every time. never in my life have i been so absorbed by music, but the night i found this song everything changed for me. literally have no clue why this song changed me, it just did. now i am a little better, i am actively looking for help with my mental health and am a completely different person than i used to be. and i'll be honest, i don't like past me, but i'm just happy that i was able to live to see myself change. i'm happy that i can see where this band will go in the future. literally unexplainable, the bittersweet emotions this singular song makes me feel.
I resonate with you so much. My sister has bpd and I have complex ptsd and well, sometimes it's really hard to just live, to exist. It's like nobody sees u:( When I found this song, I've listened to it on repeat for... a very long period of time😅.. and I still never get enough of this song(!!!!). It wakes so many deep seated emotions in me, and well. It's an amazing song!! also a big BTW:: I'm really glad I saw your comment, it made me feel less alone, I thought I was the only one who felt that way:)
I am in LOVE with this song! The last verse/chorus/build-up thing is very much playing in my head 24/7. Happy to have been recommended this band’s music a few months ago
This is one of my favorite songs of yours and god the gradual way the song gets more intense hits me every time. Thank you so much for writing this amazing music! I'm so happy I discovered your work!

Man the climax of this song hits so good
This band is criminally underrated
I could name like 3-5 artists I found on Spotify whose comments are the same as this one... and I completely agree every single time.
just this once i agree with an "underrated" comment

This song is so special to me for some reason. I just found it today and it’s like it filled a gap in my heart and now I am complete.
the part that goes "I watched the windows shatter
as if it ever mattered

and not through the lens of profit and achievement

//The lyrics from Genius lyrics\\
[Verse 1]
I was in the other room
Just laying on the carpet
Sinking like a summer moon
Slipping through a tar pit
[Chorus]
You weren’t meant to see that
You weren’t meant to see that
[Verse 2]
Of course there’s joy in the mundane
Like hauling down the highway
But then I swerved into the other lane
And flipped over the barricades
[Chorus]
You weren’t meant to see that
You weren’t meant to see that
[Bridge]
I watched the windows shatter
As if it ever mattered
And for once in my life I see things for what they are
And not through the lens of profit and achievement
It’s nothing when you need it
One of those fortune cookie proclamations
That I could never swallow
You weren’t meant to see that
All the shit I should hold back
'Cause it’s all in my head and I can see it through your swampy eyes
That I won’t always be the only one for you
