now that's what IO'm talking about Retro...LOVE this video and your work...just in case you didn't know it I bet you're sitting on a gold mined!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
The funny thing is that I always thought that faked intentional walk occurred in an A's victory, because I just assumed it helped them win and that helped to become well-known. I knew it was in this world series.
Very good job in getting this done. Only it's ironic that we are missing complete World Series games of the Oakland A's that I have never seen. And the team is being moved by MLB.
I call Game 3 of the 1972 World Series "the quiet Game 3". Charles Finley, the owner of the As, wanted the Swinging As to knock out homers in Game 3 so that the fireworks would go boom in the stadium and please the Oakland Fans. But the Big Red Machine had other ideas. They silenced the Athletics bats quite a good deal, stopping them from swinging homers in this contest, shutting out Gene Tenace as well. Cincinnati pitching was part of the reason for the Game 3 shutout. Jack Dillingham, the starting pitcher, stifled the Oakland power hitters in the first innings. Then there was the Cincinnati offense who helped the team win but by only 1 run. This came from a Cesar Geronimo basehit which scored Tony Perez. Tony slips between 3rd and home and he was almost out trying to run to the plate. And it was the only Cincinnati run. Oakland tried to do deception to help them win. Facing Johnny Bench, Rollie Fingers does a sneaky intentional walk to him, and then, by surprise, terminates the completion of the intentional pass by throwing a slider past him, resulting in the reverse K. (or "called strike three"). But it was not enough for the As to get the victory. Clay Carroll, the RP for Cincy, completes the shutout in the bottom of the 9th, ending the game, and the Reds get the first win of the 1972 WS, 1-0. They still trailed the series by a game, 2-1.
Well John, the 1972 World Series is well known for not having ANY games in complete game format. Very little exists of Games 6 and 7. Only the first half of Game #3 is around and I recreated the most important parts of the 2nd half of the game using a film/audio mix. It is regrettable if you don't find it to your liking. However, I guarantee you will not find anymore of this game anywhere else!!
@@retromaven2159 No, it’s great how you re-created the available coverage that exists today. Too bad about not having Games 6 and 7, but please keep up the EXCELLENT JOB! 👍
Just out of curiosity, do you happen to have the recorded final outs from the 1973 and '74 series (the original broadcast) where we see the fans swarm the field? I do have the clinching games of both, but both were cut off in the final inning.
would you happen to have any footage of the 71 alcs/nlcs or footage of the world series that's never been seen? happy holidays retro "Heaven" maven@@retromaven2159
NO SOUND You missed Rick Barry standing next to Finley, in blue jacket. One of the many bad points of the Oakland Mauselieum, the bad hitters backdrop in center. Good riddance to a lousy 'ballpark'.

It was nice to see part of this game, this is the first footage I've ever seen. I watched this great pitchers battle live on the NBC Broadcast.

GOOD FIND!
It's actually been sitting on my shelf for over 10+ years! Figured now was as good a time as any to post it! 😄
Many thanks. If you have any 1973 WS or playoffs unreleased we’d love to see it. But this is magnificent.
You keep outdoing yourself👍
You can say that again. This is a real lost treasure. Thanks so much for uploading this. Retro.

He was money during World Series play.

A canary would be blinded by those uniforms.
The quality is real good, but c’mon where’s the rest of the game, and game 6 and 7 at Cincinnati?

There's an extremely poor, brief clip from the 1973 series. I've never seen any from 1974 but it is rumored to exist...hope that helps..
