    Excellent work Maikel, as usual.
    Regarding the tachometer generators, the location of the driven piece is determined by the sintered bronze bush that is pressed in to the housing.
    This bush is pressed in to a not so robust aluminium housing and the driven piece needs to be aligned with the driving dog when it is installed.
    What usually happens is a knuckleheaded mechanic tries to install the generator with the drive misaligned to the driving dog, and when they tighten down the fasteners the end result is that the sintered bush gets pushed back in to the housing - like the one you have.
    They can be repositioned by popping the end cap off, pressing it all back in to position and pinning the bush to the housing for a permanent fix, drill 1/16" hole on an angle that passes through the housing and the sintered bush and put a split pin in to your hole to permanently pin it in position.

    Hello Maikel . Fascinating insight into the progressive changes in "e"type production . This exemplifies why you should always get the most complete example when considering a restoration project . Which is what l did when l purchased my '66 2+2 . And my first mistake was buying a replacement rear lamp . It was a roadster so it did'nt fit !! Although with careful reprofiling it now does ! Thanks Maikel .

      Good day John, @johndavey72 you hit the nail right on its head.Most original is always the best, at least in my opinion. Everything fits perfect. I had several stalled or abandoned project with missing parts. I had to learn the hard way, just like with the tail light. So, theses videos are a money and time saving guide. I want to encourage the people the fit original and spec parts where possible. Sure you might be able to fit later bits on an early car, but hey, is that what we want if we can avoid it? Keep watching. C u.

    Maikel - yet another very informative video. luckerly I do not seem to have fallen into any of these traps. However I have had a very frustrating few days fitting the front hardware to the bonnet. After much effort I have got the bumpers to fit nicely and the rubber follows the body well. I then fitted the motif shaft holders and after lots of fun with then and the overriders I got them to fit well. However it is now impossible to fit the motif bar. It would appear that my new motif bar is too long to fit my bonnet mouth. My old original also looks too long. is his a common problem as my bonnet appears fine. The headlight scoops also appear to be fun. why is the bottom num welded on the outside and the others on the inside? thanks Hugh

      what you describe is a common problem and might end eventually in a broken motif bar. Can you send me some pictures to maikel.lemke@etypes1.com.
      It could be a wrong position of the overriders. So need to at both from a few meters away.
      The sugar scoops have those welds to make sure you have an inclination to allow water running through that hole. They are a pain to fit. Same with the chrome ring over the headlights. Make sure you have the right rings and screws and still you might drop the screws.
      But I can see you getting there, sounds like the final steps 👍

      I think the mouth of the bonnet has been made narrow on my replacement bonnet as the motif bar does not fit the gap even without the overriders on. So I have cut the ends off the motif bar and made a bracket to hold it into the overrider end caps. It looks ok but not as Jaguar intended. The sugar scoops are in and I see what you mean they are very tight to the chrome headlight finisher.@@JaguarEType
