    1. Kanye ain't seen as a super duper lyrical dude like that

      Nope, Cole was peer pressured into responding to a diss (at his big age), rather than responding because he wanted to. Realised he wasn't about that life and apologized for it and removed it. If Cole wanted peace, he should have kept quiet, if Cole wants the be the best, he should be prepared to engage in competition. But most importantly, don't build this mental image of yourself for years on wax as a killer on the mic, have your gangster tested and fold immediately. I'm a Cole fan, but I will never be a Cole Stan and make excuses for the decisions of another grown adult man. Cole made his bed, he has to sleep in it. Cole invited the type of disrespect he is getting now by not standing ten toes down on the decisions he makes

    • @tjcole9174
      @tjcole9174 25 дней назад +6

      @martianastronaut4917 I respect that and I agree for the most part.. I don't hear him complaining about the back lash from his decision, it's the fans.. but even in that light, that decision does not diminish his talent.. I do not believe he is dodging dot.. I believe that he knew whatever he had to do to beat dot would be damaging to his legacy and that's not what he wanted to do after hearing what the people were already saying after 7 minute drill.. he told dot to take his best shot and he ain't tripping, he not scared of his response. Again the reason why we all wanted to see them 2 go head to head is because we no they both are highly skilled and take their art serious. The narrative that he scared is baffling to me.. I mean the rest of the mixtape speak for itself..

    • @martianastronaut4917
      @martianastronaut4917 25 дней назад

      @@tjcole9174 I don't understand how this would have been damaging to his career, Kendrick is the one who threw the first punch (meaning Kendrick was looking for smoke ), and Cole was responding to that, which is a normal thing for a rapper to do, even if Cole didn't respond, people would have not cared as much because Drake was the real target for K Dot, Cole essentially took a stray, but to apologize for responding to a diss against you when you've spent your career telling, no warning people that you are not to be messed with, that ain't a good look at all. Now let's look at Nas and Jay-Z, both of whom have had legendary careers in hip hop, both of whom had a very public beef with each other, but the beef did not damage their careers, infact, it became one of their highlights, why ? Because competition is very much a part of hip hop. Like you said, people were looking forward to the competition between (in my view) two rappers who can compete with each other on equal footing. And Cole has no ill will towards Kendrick and vicversa. Drake and Kendrick on the other hand had actual beef

    Cole should play into the whole "fall off" thing. Go full hop hop monk mode. That is the best route for Cole to take.
    Dropping a diss when Kanye is at another low point like Cole did back in 2016 is a real 🐱ssy move.
    Also, what Kanye is experiencing is an extreme rebound after becoming extremely religious. When his family was being torn apart, Jesus come save him. Now he is going onto the other extreme. That's what happens when you become spiritually empty. For his own soul's health, he needs to go back on Yandhi time.

      Which is honestly the best thing for Cole, ducking Kendrick and going for an easy target in Ye will only do more damage to Cole's rep and will invalidate his apology cause he only wants smoke with rappers he knows he can beat. And besides, everything Cole needed to say about Kanye was on False Prophets, Kanye tried to respond to it with the Like That remix, but it objectively failed. So there is really no reason for Cole to get at him, and the negatives would outweigh any "postives" that might come from this if he jumps in.

Smooths things over on that front. Puts Cole back in the big 3 conversation if he holds his own with Kdot. Then release a Kanye diss where he goes all in on someone else's production ( T minus, alchemist, etc.). He'd have so much content on Kanye. Dude is a walking dart board these days. listen to that leak ye got with gambino, he can still be very good lyrically, however he just chooses not to and seems to be focusing on production imo (for example, burn probably had the best verse on vultures and it had the most simple beat, meaning more time to write, the leak is a ft so someone else most likely produced it, once again more time to write)

    Let’s all be real fr. Stepping back from the beef, after this passes, it’ll just be a moment where we clowned him. If he just goes back to doing his thing like he can, most people will forget about this apology, at least on a serious note. It’ll just be a meme. All artists have things like this happen. If his biggest scandal is apologizing, that man skated thru his career.

    I think the best way for Cole to spin it is honestly. Say I tried to be nice, but the world tried to play me and act like they forgot I'm that dude. Kendrick will always be my friend, but I'm about to make ye my sacrifice. Then after be like I'm not trying to get personal against k dot, but I'd put my bars on my ye diss up against any one. Of course it goes without saying that if it isn't a dope diss, then he shouldn't even make it. Basically many a song with verses more iconic than Kenny on like that.
    Ps. I think it's weird when guys report on hip hop but try not to curse. I get it from their profit perspective but it comes across so lame. Like are we talking about rap beef or rating disney+ shows?

    Attacking Kanye would be the stupidest thing he could do. That’s low hanging fruit. Ye is mentally sick, and that would be like beating up a crippled kid in the playground. Tbh, I think the apology wasn’t bad and was actually hella mature. Because Kendrick didn’t even diss him really. J Cole’s fault was mostly that he was too overzealous to reply in the first place.

  • @lostpicasso260
    @lostpicasso260 26 дней назад

    Here’s my issue with J. Cole taking the “peaceful route”…Hip-hop is already a peaceful thing. Dissing Kendrick is arguably the most peaceful way he could’ve gone about responding. I hardly doubt Kendrick would want to take anything to the streets, I just don’t think he’s that stupid. The only real reason I can see why J. Cole back peddled is because he was genuinely afraid of what Kendrick’s response might have been. If there was any friendship at stake, then Kendrick wouldn’t of disrespected him in the first place. J. Cole is about as hiphop as it gets, but apologizing instead of battling has to be the least hiphop thing you can do. Really don’t see how he’s gonna recover from that. While I respect being peaceful, this isn’t war…it’s rap.
    Not even a Kanye diss will heal those wounds, just my opinion.

  • @alenrocha325

    While Cole would absolutely body Kanye, I seriously doubt he would go on to actually body him as opposed to use his condition as a point of reflection in what going down that "hateful" path can lead you to, which he would also use to mirror on himself through his mistep in responding to Kendrick. Although most Hip-hop fans are disappointed in Cole bailing out-myself included-I respect his choice to be mature and not chase down his peers in name of clout. He also mentioned that when he wrote Everybody Dies (around the same time he wrote False Prophets) he did it from a very bitter place, and he's moved on from that point. I do agree it would piss off Ye, but I think it's precisely because of that he wouldn't do it. If he pisses him off, Cole would probably feel partially responsible for pushing Kanye further down his spiral. It's kinda like beating up a disabled man in a fist fight, and maybe Cole feels like that's too low for him. Great video, though
