- Trams make an important contribution to public transport in the city of Zürich in Switzerland. The tram network serves most city neighborhoods and is the backbone of public transport within the city. The trams and other city transport modes operate within a fare regime provided by the cantonal public transport authority Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV).
Zürich's tram system is exceptionally well-run, with frequent service, reliable infrastructure, and excellent customer information. I lived at Hirzenbach (The eastern terminus) when I was 9 and took this tram to school for the first half of that year. I visited again this summer and got off at schwamendingerplatz (where you filmed the trams coming out of the tunnel) like I did when going to school.
That area where the tracks cross is so interesting! Lots of history from the proposed U-Bahn system.
2 things: I think some of those cars look like the early Portland Max light rail cars.
also, I love how they kept the green spaces. kind of wild except for where the tracks are.
Zurich looks like Portland did 40 years ago. No litter in the streets and clean as a whistle. Believe it or not, that's what it really looked like. A nice video. Thank you
