That was absolutely fascinating! The young crew were very polite to other road users and most professional. It was most interesting to see just how difficult it is to keep the tracks clear after heavy snow. I think that the section (off the main road) muddy have been a turning circle? WOW that's the coolest thing I've ever seen , i never seen a streetcar with a moveable snow plow attached to it. Greetings all the way from the United States , hope everyone there is staying safe and healthy.
Tho PCC cars in Boston had them and there were 1 or 2 dedicated PCC plows. There was a rumor that in ¨he Blizzard of '78 several drivers went into the trolly museum (maybe not yet open) and took out a 1938 PCC plow that had left neglected for years.... They powered it up at it worked perfectly. It cleared tracks faster than the medern equipment. Sppposedly it never went back to the museum.

@@maozedong981 Im Gegensatz zu einem Straßen-Schneeräumer kann die Tram nicht lenken, drum muss die Position des Räumschilds ständig der Situation angepasst werden.
@@thomasgabler3476 dafür musst du nicht lenken, ist wohl kaum schwieriger von der Steuerung gegenüver Konventionelen Schneeräumgeräten, bin selber im Winterdienst

Schön zu sehen das Zürich auch so etwas hat. Bisher kannte ich nur aus meiner Heimatstadt Magdeburg die alte Tatra T4D mit dem vorgespannten Schneepflugwagen.

About 100 years ago, the Pacific Electric streetcar (tram) system would use a car sort of like this one to deliver mail and packages to post offices. They also had regular freight trains for freight service.

Very cool in several ways. I live in the Dallas Fort Worth area, and we are expecting freezing rain followed by snow. So they have just cancelled the tram service. They used to try to keep it running, but they had trouble with especially the overhead wires. I haven't seen news on it, but I suspect with reduced revenue during Covid, they may be skimping maintenance. Even before, it didn't seem that good. Certainly no snow plows that I'm aware of. And that is the first cargo tram I've ever seen.

In Germany we had the GT8 model (I ❤️ this one) many years ago. This was replaced many years ago (😢) by the newer type N8C, which was also very good. Back then, I always stood at the front next to the driver and knew all the controls. This was always one of the jobs that I would have liked to do and would still like to do today. 👏 🙏 ♥️ 🇩🇪

Also ich glaube ich habe das Konzept verstanden. Das Tram schiebt den ganzen Schnee auf die Strasse. Dann kommt der Strassenpflug und schiebt alles auf die Gehsteige. Dann kommt der Gehsteige-Pflug und schiebt alles wieder auf die Strasse zurück. :-D
Das Tram hat auch schon Schnee vor die Füße der Passanten geschoben. Ob das an den Stationen so sinnig ist? Aber die Wendeschleife war schon faszinierend.
Genau so funktioniert Winterdienst in Zürich. Zuerst mal die grosse Überraschung dass es Schnee gibt, obwohl genau dies schon Tage vorher angekündigt wurde. Dann wird völlig unkoordiniert der Schnee hin und her geschoben und es dauert Tage bis einigermasen Ordnung herrscht....
Ich habe kein idee wie das wirkt in Zúrich, aber in Amsterdam ist schnee-raumung mit ein tram auch vorbehalten an der freiwillige besetzung der Museumtram Amsterdam. Der GVB besitzt kein Schneepflug-wagen mehr denke ich. Aber die freiwilligers der Museumtram haben gesagt dass es sehr viel spass gemacht hat durchs weisse wunderland zu fahren ;)
Ich wusst gar nicht, dass es so etwas gibt. Also Züge und Fahrzeige ja, aber eine Straßenbahn mit Schneepfug kannte ich bisher noch nicht. Wobei es eigentlich logisch ist ^^
In Leipzig haben wir einen Schneepflug, der vor jede Bahn gespannt werden kann (meistens die T4D-M Werkstattwagen aber auch T4D-M, die im Linienbetrieb eingesetzt werden oder ein "LeoLiner")
Falls man einen Verbesserungsvorschlag machen darf: Warum hat er nicht einfach oben einen Spiegel oder mehrere? Dann müsste er nicht immer im halben Stehen arbeiten? Tolles Video!
Yep, it looks very much the same as when I - for a very short while - was driving the old snowplow on the tramway in Stockholm Sweden (Nockeby & Tvärbanan). For some reason the people who are plowing the roads thinks that the tram tracks are a good place to lay off the snow. And it also looks like it is very much up to the memory of the operators to see when it's time to adjust the angle of the blade, or shift it sideways (nice feature, the snowplow in Stockholm didn't have that, retractable side wings only) or to lift up. They do have a lot of "Lift-Up" signs in Stockholm but most of them are at the wrong place so it's nothing to be worried about. At the 2 places on Nockebybanan and the one place on Tvärbanan where the blade actually hit signal boxes or an island in the middle of the road - There are no signs at all at those places (at least it wasn't up until I stopped driving there in 2003). Der GVB besitzt kein Schneepflug-wagen mehr denke ich. Aber die freiwilligers der Museumtram haben gesagt dass es sehr viel spass gemacht hat durchs weisse wunderland zu fahren ;)

Ich wusst gar nicht, dass es so etwas gibt. Also Züge und Fahrzeige ja, aber eine Straßenbahn mit Schneepfug kannte ich bisher noch nicht. Wobei es eigentlich logisch ist ^^
In Leipzig haben wir einen Schneepflug, der vor jede Bahn gespannt werden kann (meistens die T4D-M Werkstattwagen aber auch T4D-M, die im Linienbetrieb eingesetzt werden oder ein "LeoLiner")
Falls man einen Verbesserungsvorschlag machen darf: Warum hat er nicht einfach oben einen Spiegel oder mehrere? Dann müsste er nicht immer im halben Stehen arbeiten? Tolles Video!
Wenn die Spiegel vereisen dann muss er trotzdem stehen. ;)
Ne so finde ich am coolsten und ein bisschen Körpereinsatz schadet ja niemand. Schweizer sind nie zu schade für die Arbeit 👍👍👍👍

Yep, it looks very much the same as when I - for a very short while - was driving the old snowplow on the tramway in Stockholm Sweden (Nockeby & Tvärbanan). For some reason the people who are plowing the roads thinks that the tram tracks are a good place to lay off the snow.
And it also looks like it is very much up to the memory of the operators to see when it's time to adjust the angle of the blade, or shift it sideways (nice feature, the snowplow in Stockholm didn't have that, retractable side wings only) or to lift up. They do have a lot of "Lift-Up" signs in Stockholm but most of them are at the wrong place so it's nothing to be worried about. At the 2 places on Nockebybanan and the one place on Tvärbanan where the blade actually hit signal boxes or an island in the middle of the road - There are no signs at all at those places (at least it wasn't up until I stopped driving there in 2003).
