- The # 5 portal of the Hope Ruth was an old mine that was refurbished in the 80s to handle ore from the nearby Sylvana mine near Sandon BC. I Climb from the 4,000 level of the Hope Ruth Mine, 625 feet though a ton of old workings, drifts and machines abandoned 50 years ago and run into modern miners working at the Silvana Mine who thought I was a ghost!
We've explored hundreds of abandoned mines in Canada the United States and Mexico, going places nobody else would dare to go! A New video is produced every Friday, check us out here:

We do this for two main reasons:
1) Documenting the mines for future generations.
2) Collecting artifacts for our museum.
Mines are being filled in, demolished, and/or collapsing at an alarming rate, so it is crucial to document them and save these artifacts while it is still possible.
This is all about mining and mining exploration. Join us for our weekly adventures as we go deep underground into historic abandoned hard rock Gold, Silver and Copper mines. We relive the Prospecting, Gold Rush days, going back in history with every expedition. Visiting abandoned and forgotten places, climbing down mine shafts into dangerous mines, finding treasures, seeing antique heavy equipment such as ore carts, crushers, milling machines, ball mills, explosives and other mining equipment.
This isn't like Minecraft or Ghost Town Living but if you want to visit some real historic Abandoned Mines...
Come visit our Exploring Abandoned Mines Museum in Grand Forks, B.C. Canada. The museum is open to the public, free of charge, donations gratefully accepted. We have a huge assortment of mining artifacts accumulated from abandoned mines, donations, and other collections. We also have operating mining equipment on display.
Museum is located at 5615 Kenmore Rd Grand Forks BC Canada V0H-1H4. Best to phone first 250-444-0183. Come for a visit! www.google.com...

Frank this is an old video I've already seen what's going on?
It is but it was years ago when I filmed it and it fits so well with last weeks show and next weeks show so I re released it.
It definitely gives it more context thanks for the awesome vids
I was thinkin that mine and everything in it looked familiar.
@@exploringabandonedmines The mill isn't in the best of shape these days!
@@GarrettDerp It is a big Rat's nest!
This re-run fit perfectly in the series. It is like seeing a good movie more than once! Rock On 🍻!
A lot of new viewers since then, I thought they should see it before we show next weeks show.
That was a great explore there Frank, it was interesting to hear the air drills running seemed to bring life to the old place again and give some idea of the noise the miners endured.
Yes it was
Great to watch this again. It was fantastic to hear the drilling and compressed air lines of a working mine. The miners must have been surprised to see you Frank!
Thanks again!
So nice to meet active miners in this mine. Nice people sharing their job with us. Great video!
Yes they are!
So cool to stumble across several miners still working a section.
Despite scaring the crap out of those guys, you gotta think about it. Those two were probably just like "oh boy another day in this damn wet tunnel......" then out of that one side they blocked off a guy who is just happier than hell to be alive, in a cave, comes walking up like "hi! I do this for fun". Epic day at work I'm sure. Especially the guy at the charging station. Probably thinking where the hell did you come from?.....
I’m sure both them miners got a bit startled when they heard a headlight shouting ( is that the way out?) lmao
More "fearless badassery".
You are very dedicated to documenting the historic mines of British Columbia. Thank you.
Thanks Frank, there is a maze of holes in that mountain. Hope there is enough ore available to profitably employ a crew of miners for several years.
They are more interested in mining investors!
Precisely why I stopped investing in the mining industry many years ago! Come think of it, it wasn't investing, it was buying credits toward my awakening and education! Credits toward a degree of sorts!
What a mine. Bet you were surprised when you ran into the miners
I'll bet those miners were more surprised to see Frank than Frank was to see them.
Won't be long someone watches the channel will be working one day and Frank meanders from out the bowels of the mine their workin! Oh hey fellas!!! Get a load of this....we're on Franks RUclips show eeeeeyyy!! 🤣
That is a cool episode. Thanks for posting.
Bossman frank coming into my notification column to save the f’kin night.
Yeauuhrrrrr!
🤘🤘
Bet you shocked them guy working away
Awesome Frank loved seeing the old and new!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great Video Frank! I was thinking...you should have told those guys that you have a secret trap-door to your apartment..just two tunnels over,...and that you have been living down there for a few years now! :o) Then before you left them,... you could have also mentioned that you have hidden video cameras all over the mine too! LOL! They must have crapped their drawers when they first heard you shout out to them! :op
I Love watching all your content Frank! History lessons in school were never this much fun! I just finished reading a book called "The Miners"...and at one point in the Klondike gold rush days, there was a town of 20,000 people built up in record time to accomodate all the Miners who had claims. There were over 80 saloons!...and over 30 Houses of "Ill Repute"! In that small town! I guess to blow off steam, the Miners would often gamble and drink...and it was all paid for in "pinches" of gold dust! It's absolutely fascinating to read about how these rugged men and women lived back then! & You bring us accurate glimpes of that historical era in reality with each of your productions Frank, and you do a really darn fine job too! Thank you! and stay safe Friend! :o)
i am so very glad you share your adventures, there is no way I'd be able to enjoy the climbing on in such wonderful places
this is the second time youve posted this video. when I saw those miners at work I knew id seen it before
Loved too watch you exploring this mine Frank, a very interesting place with a lot of things regarding mining still present.
Yes it was
Hey Frank, that was pretty neat, nice seeing a mine being worked, thx!
You bet
Very informative, not a cheep reopen project, would like to see the cost analysis on this reopen. It's a mazing what is left behind and abandoned. Thanks for the share.
First they would need to find some reserves...
Awesome, I forgot how much it made me laugh when you came across those miners - I mean can you imagine your just working away minding your own business and a voice and light comes out of the darkness 👻😱. Absolutely brilliant, loved it.
Thank you. Take care and be safe. 💖💖🙏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice clean intertainment for me. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
I swear I learn new things every time I watch your videos man! Keep exploring! Amazing channel!
Awesome! Thank you!
@@exploringabandonedmines You're welcome man 💯🔥
Absolutely fantastic content Frank love your work mate, kia kaha from NZ
Hi Frank, another cool explore, they actually had quite a lot still in there. That galena really is a pretty mineral when it's first cut, we have quite a lot of it here in Cornwall UK and a ton of mines too. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 🙏💖
Thanks 👍
Awesome show here, Frank!!! Interviews with live crews. Don't see that on many mine videos, Very well done !!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Frank. Enjoyed the episode to see the machinery and equipment. One could get lost there. Meeting and chatting with miners was super cool. It does not happen very often. Just make sure they don't do any blasting when you are inside. Those old workings were very sketchy. Nice weekend to both of you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the tour Frank!
No worries
Nilite is a kind of brand name Frank . those are bags of amex .. and they are ready for loading . it comes pre mixed and only needs det cord or a cap to set off . turned a lot of rock into sugar with that stuff .. its no play toy . edit : you know there is fun to be had when you have a steel retainer on your stoper :P sure could have used those many times .
“This is not financial advice” if you want to talk stocks. LOVE THE CHANNEL!
Saw alot of stuff I missed the first time. That was a wet one for sure. Good job with video. I missed last weeks so, I'm gonna have to watch it. Thanks Frank.
It sets up this weeks show...
@@exploringabandonedmines I watched it, excellent. Thanks again for the mine explores.
Great mine! Never disappoint! Thanks ❤️
Hello Frank hello Sharron
That is a very interesting Video
And it is good to see that some mines get back to live and that Explorers like you can find in hundert years some mines to get in
Thanks for sharing your adventure
Take care and all the best wishes

Glad you enjoyed it
Just noticed the Seven Dwarves wallpaper Hi-Ho!
I saw it before and thought it was Asterix and Obelix.
Good spot :)
@@weedfreer Did you notice that they are miners?
@@evanscreekbrahman7511 not initially no...I saw it in a previous vid and thought Obelix...then didn't bother looking any closer.
I feel better now....
Great video, Frank! I thought it was perfect to show us this video again after your interview with Hal last week. Don't think I am going to invest in any junior mining companies after seeing this lol. Thanks for sharing this information with us all!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent work.
Many thanks!
Another great episode, looking forward to your next one :)
More to come!
That was really cool to see guys working in the mine but I don't envy them their job considering the amount of lumber they had to set. And being damp and cold for hours on end. When are you going to give us a demonstration of how Anfo works? All the makings were in that mine.
Tough to get explosives since 911 except for the old unstable stuff in the mines that you don't want to mess with.
That was a great video Frank thanks for sharing, stay safe
Thanks, you too!
Awesome video Frank Thanks for another great tour with a Bonus, you found some guys working in there and seeing a lot of the old tools, well see ya in the next mine. Cheers
You bet
Good stuff. As always enjoyed it . Thanks
You bet
great video Frank
Thanks 👍
nilite f.r is anfo , just looked it up . anfo normally comes in smaller bags , suprised they left full bags there just like that . suprised you didnt find some boosters or det cord
That was so awesome I have claustrophobia but I was still able to watch it what in some Silver Mines in California that's what I was a lot younger love the mines
Classic episode, one of my faves
Hate climbing, hate heights love this channel 🙏
It would be awesome if one of those Miners found this video and actually saw the crap that Frank went through in order to cross through that mountain. I can pretty much guarantee they'd be like "That guy is batsh*t crazy". lol.
So Frank, the other day I was picking up a metal lathe from a friend of my old mans and he wanted to show me a video on youtube, and i noticed one of his subscriptions was to this channel. lol. small world. either that or you're becoming famous.
I have a few subscribers!
Morning frank.hope you and Sharron are well.
THOSE ARE MINES NOT WELLS - just cause they are full of water many wonder
Morning!
Great mine .. like the others I wonder what those guys thought as they saw your light coming .. LOL
Thanks Frank have a nice weekend

Hi 👋 fank another great video thanks again 👍 from Scotland
🖐
That was an awesome video. Is this the one that you were talking about scaring a few miners?
The mysterious light of Frank the tommyknocker.
We Are All Mental . So Happy .
Hello Sir. As a miner you do know about some that dwells inside the earth. Can you speak a little what you know about what you have seen of weird stuff down there. Stay safe Sir. :-)
You only see that if you get scared!
Frank will see a ladder that's straight up and down "oh that's not very steep at all... We can climb that, no problem." The man is a beast. I'm surprised he is able to walk, let alone climb a ladder with that pair of 100 lb balls made of solid chromium. 😂
i tot i saw this b4 somewhere
that climbing rope and bag are an amazon special I bought the same ones cheap
Frank ,
Im just guessing but the corrosive boxes looked like bottles of acid for batteries? I could be wrong
Yes I think so.
great finds.interesting video
Thanks 👍
great video was surprised to see someone in the mine hello Sharon
Hello there!
The bottles marked "corrosive" might have been acid to top off the batteries.
Frank At 21:00 the bottles that are filled is acid for the battery in the mine motor.
10:16 3 orbs fly past u, towards us.
Silver going up daily as the campaign for renewable energy continues. Silver makes great electrical contactors. I can see mines that were no longer viable after the Hunt brothers fiasco , getting going again .
I've seen it before too but I must admit this time is the first time I've ever seen all the sparkling on camera, Now I understand why people get interested in rocks 😂
They look better underground!
Curiousity Inc on you tube, just found an abandoned locked off hole on his property. He is in Canada and would probably love for you to contact him. His name is Alex.
I hope it is a big hole!
im serprissed thay were so happy to see you id have thought thay would have said you are tresspassing etc
The mine manager wasn't as friendly...
Good one Frank.
7:29 the white box with two black tubes is moving on its own. There is more than ghosts down there. And looked like a face on the wall there also. But not sure about that.
Really?
@@exploringabandonedmines It is only a matter of putting in correct searchwords, and you will find out what dwells there. And i mean i started not long ago and i have found insane stuff. Maybe scary for some. I have heard of miners being silenced more than one time.
Luring in the stupornatural people and dashing their hopes on the rocks below. Good work! :)
A Canadian ghost would be too polite to scare people, anyway. xD
il bet you scared the crap out of those poor miners!! :)
Two miner were like what the hell where did he came from
Awesome show frank!!! When you become famous dont forget about all of us that love your content.
He already is famous!
@@Bushguyrocks TV famous. When gets his show going.
Could the bottles of chemicles be for testing silver content? Old coal miner from Engand here, great to see other mines, thanks for the awesome videos
Probably acid for tram batteries.
A great video Frank
Glad you enjoyed it
I watched this to see a ghost and there was none?!?!
I was the ghost!
@@exploringabandonedmines shite
8:10 Wonder how many nerds are going to try calling that phone number...
Didn't think they had transgender people back then, i dont know why but that made me laugh. Another awesome video, no surprise there
Lmfao
Maybe that liquid was for filling batteries Frank.
I think so.
As far as batterys for vehicle's that system is in every supermarket And warehouse in the land for all the forklifts and pallet carriers, They have racks with hundreds of charging stations for all the different types of modern warehouse battery ride on equipment. Look at Amazon order pickers don't drag a truck anymore, It's all about speed and safety for a competitive edge. Nowadays order picking is a job usually where you are one a huge number all driving battery driven order picking trucks with safety cabs to protect from falling stock and other machines so there is a huge industry around battery's now a mine today probably wouldn't even look after their own batteries.
the bottles containing corrosive prolly have battery electrolyte
Great video.
Thanks!
@@exploringabandonedmines anytime. I do abandoned anthracite mines. I know you don't like them, hah. 17 years been doing it, I have the whole kit, even the MSHA sealed air units, you hard rock guys interest me. We want to do a trip out West one day my buddy and I.
Sometimes I've kicked my butt for not packing one of the folding "trenching tools" (shovels) That shale looks pretty sketchy. That galena sample looks beautiful - shiny enough to make you blink in the sunlight you betcha !! There are lots of glittery spots as you traverse the lead area. Love the "Danger Keep Out" sign - just a warning of the possibility of barking spiders. Awesome adventure !!! Thanks for the great exploration and video !!!!
I would be interested in following the Audits but cannot find them. Would you include a link?
They have a facebook page
@Whoop!
what is all the shiny gold looking stuff?
Sulfides
What was the pounding at 11:30? Or just. Water dripping
Dripping on the tarp.
All the sparkles look like radiation when you have a large amount
Didn’t know ghost smoke cigarettes. Lol
Ghosts of the Barking Spiders
Every time I see a collapsed section I can't help but wonder if there are bodies underneath all that rock! 😱😳 just a thought 💭☠️ It kind of adds a sense of danger and mystery to these videos. You are definitely one brave hombre!
Miners have a lot of respect for the dead. They would go to a lot of trouble to remove bodies if someome dies. They didn't just leave them there.
Thanks that's good to know for peace of mind! But still can't help wondering every time I see a collapse. I've started collecting rocks and rock hounding as a hobby so the minerals in the mines are fascinating especially the sparkling ones!
LOL YOU FUNNY GUY
Can some one post the time when he saw the ghost...?
I have never seen one. I have some video of the Easter bunny though!
Oh, so YOU were the ghost they saw. 😄
