  • The Ottawa mine is centered on a group of about 20 Crown granted claims and fractions, on the north slope of the valley of Springer Creek, GPS 49.784681-49.784681 5 kilometers northeast of Slocan BC. Access to the mine site is from the Slocan highway via the Springer Creek road.
The history of the Ottawa mine dates back to 1896 when the Ottawa claim (Lot 4968) was located, however, it was not until 1902 that major development work by a Pittsburgh syndicate was attempted. By 1904 the property was developed by 1067 meters of tunnel on 4 levels. It was operated intermittently by the owners until 1908 and then by leasers until 1913. In 1913 the group of over 20 claims was acquired by the Consolidated Mining & Smelting Co. Ltd. and extensive development work was carried on until 1918 when the mine was closed and the equipment removed. The workings at this time consisted of 5 adits at vertical intervals of 30.4 meters and a 6th level driven from a shaft. In 1920 a 50-ton per day mill was constructed. Leasers continued to operate the mine until 1935. In 1935 the group, consisting of 31 claims, was acquired by the Ottawa Silver Mining & Milling syndicate of Spokane, who, in 1937, built a 100-ton per day flotation plant which burned shortly after. They drove an 8th level as a crosscut for 366 meters and then drifted on the vein. Leasers worked the property intermittently from 1941 to 1950. An option on the property was given to Violamac Mines (B.C.) Ltd. in 1950.
Total recorded production between 1903 and 1984 amounts to 26,476 tonnes mined, yielding 55,940,682 grams of silver, 982 grams of gold, 360,085 kilograms of lead, 12,774 kilograms of zinc and 793 kilograms of copper.
This is a fast paced and exciting Mine Exploration Channel. We have been in hundreds of abandoned mines in Canada, United States and Mexico. Join us underground and we will show you things no human has seen for decades! A fast paced no bs exciting channel that will not bore you...A New video is produced every Friday, check us out. • Newest To Oldest Videos
We do this for two main reasons:
    1) Documenting the mines for future generations.
    2) Collecting artifacts for our museum.
Mines are being filled in, demolished, and/or collapsing at an alarming rate, so it is crucial to document them and save these artifacts while it is still possible.
This is all about mining and mining exploration. Join us for our weekly adventures as we go deep underground into historic abandoned hard rock Gold, Silver and Copper mines. We relive the Prospecting, Gold Rush days, going back in history with every expedition. Visiting abandoned and forgotten places, climbing down mine shafts into dangerous mines, finding treasures, seeing antique heavy equipment such as ore carts, crushers, milling machines, ball mills, explosives and other mining equipment.
This isn't like Minecraft or Ghost Town Living but if you want to visit some real historic Abandoned Mines...
Come visit our Exploring Abandoned Mines Museum in Grand Forks, B.C. Canada. The museum is open to the public, free of charge, donations gratefully accepted. We have a huge assortment of mining artifacts accumulated from abandoned mines, donations, and other collections. We also have operating mining equipment on display.

Have you seen the "Ghost Town Living" channel? The guy bought Cerro Gordo California and all 30 some miles of silver/zinc mines. He's trying to restore the town. He has opened the closed mines. Trying to open it to tourists. I sort of cringed a little at first he has little experience but he's pulling it together.
You're my favorite mine exploration channel. His channel is growing on me. I'd love to see you stop by his mines and give him some advice. He's opening a museum there too. Interesting history.

l love Franks mine videos, they are straightforward exploration and discovery (no nonsense)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to watch another guys mine videos (who will remain nameless), but he was always trying to "amp up" the tension with "oh, did you see that?" or "oh, did you hear that?". As if the mines were "haunted". Showing "swinging chains", that had to be moving by some supernatural forces....LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Frank and Sharron, keep up the good work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only thought they were in the US for the most part I didn't know there were any in Canada or nothing worthwhile anyways until I saw this video about the Ottawa mine it's funny because I used to live in Ottawa Ontario Canada and I can honestly say there are no mind in Ottawa so I had to think on that for a second back to the mine video Slocan isn't very far from Vancouver all I need to know is this they were government granted fractions does the government still have a hold on them because if so it would be illegal to go there and fuck around if it's okay to go there please let me know I know you went there but maybe you went there on the whim who knows I don't need any trouble in my life I've had enough as it is anyways if you're sure it's okay to go there and fart around please let me know I would be very much appreciated to your answer carpe diem Greg in Vancouver
