So I made this recipe and want to make a couple suggestions.
I actually made a giant version of this in one of those cylinder dishes that sit on a pedestal (forget what it’s called).
You can definitely add a lot more whiskey/bourbon if you want a real zing of flavor. I personally feel like the amount suggested in the recipe is just an enhancement and the flavor outcome would be negligible.
I love Preppy Kitchen and respect him, so this is just a *personal preference* and no disrespect or shade on him :)
Also, if I make it again I think I will add layers of a very light spongey cake layers of a neutral/vanilla cake. I’m not a cake person, but I feel like with this recipe it would add a little textural interest.

So much for originality. This is similar to the way I make my banana pie/pudding. Yours is more complex than mine was as I cheat and use Mrs. Robertson s caramel sauce from the grocery.
The caramel takes it over the top.
Great minds and all that. Looking forward to your book.

I’ve tempered eggs just once, and I didn’t do it well, the eggs scrambled. Since then I add them before I start cooking the filling/pudding and I’ve never had a problem, been doing it that way over 60 years, my Mom and Grandma did the same. Banana pudding is so delicious,
and here in Texas almost every BBQ restaurant has it on the menu. 🤗

My husband loves banana pudding, and I'm willing to try making this recipe. Personally, your sugar cookies are a huge hit here. I prefer the vanilla with almond icing. I've mixed four batches of it "for the freezer" (yeah right), and your chocolate chip cookie recipe is amazing. You really need to put warning labels on your recipes because I'm gaining a few pounds here. Thank you for all of the fabulous recipes.

This is incredibly sad, but I had no idea you can make pudding from scratch. I thought it was only from a box. My mom used to be a baker and we have tons of cooking books in the house, but I guess we don't consume pudding often enough for the question to have ever come up, nor have I come across a recipe for it...until now!
I learned something new, so thank you! I also love that this recipe uses whiskey! I do enjoy the flavor of whiskey and often so many desserts typically use rum or vodka which I do not care for.
I've been a fan for awhile..can't wait to get the book!
