Today show was great and I still watch the show on cable TV 📺 and you tube 📺 have a great day I miss seeing all the actors and actress I would like too meet them all from the show of emergency 51 from Brendon iam now adult I been watching since I was a kid
I have a friend (Jim Page) who had ties to the show the first few seasons, and kept in contact with the show through out its run. He said they only used one Squad, a 1972 Dodge D300 through the 7 year run of the show. Universal purchased a 1972 Dodge D300 (seeing LACFD was running Dodge squads in 1970/71 when the movie/show got the green light for production. Shortly after Universal got there order in for a 1971 Dodge, the New 1972 Dodge body had already gone into production, thus leaving them to purchase the new body style Dodge. The 1972 Dodge chassis was shipped to universal where they built the utility body based on LACFD specs. Over the run of the show the truck sustained some damage and work was done over the 7 seasons. ie: paint, touch up and a re-decal in season 7. This is the reason you see DODGE in chrome in season one, then it is painted over in later season, then removed by season 7. Also if you notice starting in season 5 Ep.1, "Stewardess", the headlight trim was painted black. He told me the reason for the confusion on the vehicles year was because Universal did not register it until 1974 so a error was made on the paperwork and it was to have been rumored as a 1974 Dodge, replacement truck for the 1972. He said the one in the LACFD museum is the original and only Squad 51. As for the vin, some people have checked the one in the museum and said it is a 1972, others who have checked and said it was a 1974. I have not checked it and trust my friend. One fact is in 1972 LACFD's squad bid went to GMC not Dodge. Squad 51 was the only 1972 Dodge Squad in the fleet once it was donated to LACFD from Universal in 1980, in which it served as a spare squad for a few years. One further note he told me, that Jack Web Productions (Mark VII Limited) was very big on being authentic. Like Adam-12, new vehicles replaced old ones and were the same as what the real LAPD used. My friend said if Squad 51 was replace in season 3 or 4, it would have been a GMC, the same as what LACFD was running then, not another DODGE.
Another way to pay homage to Roy & Johnny would be to have them in the first episode but all new crew. In several episodes of E!, while on vacation or off-duty Roy & Johnny pitched in because they were needed. For example in "Snakebite", they & Chet encountered an accident while returning from a fishing trip. In "Welcome to Santa Rosa County", Roy & Johnny were on vacation & encountered 2 emergencies. They could be on vacation somewhere, obviously retired, but be the first ones on the scene.
@lightpaws25 It wouldn't. It was used as a support to EMS crews so fire (squad and engine 51 in this case) would be on scene first and start on stabilization and when the ambulance arrived, the patient would be taken that way.
The VIN on this truck confirms that it is indeed a 1974 Dodge D300 1 &1/2 truck cab and chassis. The Squad 51 in the pilot was in fact a brand new 1972 D300. So many people believe and perpetuate the myth that the museum Rescue Squad is the one and only Squad 51. Three of them were used by the studio.
I would love to see a new E!. Considering the ages of the actors and the fact that Dix & Joe are gone, I think a new crew would be the best way to do the show. My personal idea would be that Roy & Johnny were retiring but maybe their kids were becoming FF/para. That happens often, following in the footsteps of a FF family. Or maybe one of the kids work @ the hospital as dr or something.
Now that I could get behind. A new generation of Emergency! Ya, if the writing was good and the storys came out of the books of other fire houses, you know like the original then it would be great. I mean some of the things that the first responders see everyday can't be made up. And I will bet that there's some of the craziest situations and stories that could be made in to a show.
+LACoFireMuseum it's okay my dad had kinda a crappy truck when he was on.. during a fire (grass fire he drove a grass truck) the hose reel busted spraying water everywhere then his truck broke down.. at least he got it running again before he had to take off on foot back through the fire. another time they were on their way to a fire when his truck caught fire. first his siren went out so he was making a " wee woo" siren noise over the PA XD
Many people say there was only one but there has to have been at least 2.. sometimes you can see the Dodge letters on the front of the hood and sometimes you can't
I use to watch Emergency 51 as a kid, but all these years I was always curious about 1 question when it came to Squad 51. When that would run on a medic call, what or how would such a vehicle transport a patient to the hospital?
EXTREMELY CLOSE CALL!!! IF IT DID BURN TO A BURNED UP SHELL THIS GUY WOULD BE THE MOST HATED PERSON IN AMERICA!!! Im 11 years old and im a huge fan of EMERGENCY! and if it did I would cry. I love EMERGENCY! so much that I had the idea of this...before I go to the LOS ANGELES COUNTY FIRE MEUSEUM or fire station 127 in the city of Carson California. I would dress up like my favorite character Roy Desoto literally go into the fire station pretend like the alarm went off and get in the squad and say squad 51 10-4 kmg365 and turn on the siren and lights. EXTREMELY CLOSE CALL!!!
You mean a modern remake? Well, i say yes to that, but the remake must be good and based on the original series. There must be much things we know and where we say "Just like in the old series!" mixed with some new stuff. For example: It should be filmed in the original fire station 127 of the LA Fire Department. And of course the vehicles need to be a engine and a squad.
Yeah, like i said, the same location, modern types of the vehicles and a good story behind all of it. Maybe they could make some cameos with some of the main crew. For example, Gage an DeSoto visit their old station to see how the paramedic project they started years ago got along since they left.
Andrew Joseph Hasty - I have always said that it would be cool to see what happened to Roy's Kids. Did they follow in their father's footsteps? Did John ever have kids? Why not do a show where Roy's Son and John had a daughter that he didn't know about until?????
@Justin Case is that why sometimes you can see the Dodge letters on the front hood and sometimes you can't.? Although Randolph mantooth claims there was only ever one squad.
Only thing that mad me mad was having 8 or 9 vol FF each ask me "are you sure it was on fire", then look @ me like I was an idiot when I said yes. Sorry to say I finally snapped at 1 "I'm not an idiot, my dad was a FF & I know what fire looks like & my d*mn truck was on fire!" That's when the young FF said if tranny fluid had been spraying on exhaust then cutting it off stopped the flow, therefore no more fire.
One thing, the majority of the original cast are either dead or well up in years. So in that case, there would be nobody likely with the LACoFD. Now, what I was thinking was a reboot with new actors portraying the characters. Whaddyathink??
+TheJer1963 Actually the Entenmann-Rovin & Blackinton Malloy/Reed badge sets (as well as Gannon's POLICEMAN/4848 & Mac's SERGEANT/188 badges) are in the possession of the surviving members of Chief Edward M. (Crazy Ed) Davis family.'
I haven't heard that before. Can you give me a link to that please? Everything I have ever read about the Adam-12 badges are they went missing in the late 70's and are still missing to this day.

Thank your for doing the restorations on both of those iconic Vehicles.

That one area that he buffed for the entire video will never have to be re-done again.

I remember this show
you are lucky thats all it was when you said fire i said NO! my favorite tv show vehicle on fire. I almost cried

Unidad 51, la que me llevo a estar aqui con todo este equipo de gente que comparte un solo ideal, ayudar a quien lo necesita en el momento indicado.
beautiful rescue squad 51
You know that guy felt like the king of the world, driving it down the freeway.
I'm curious as to why you took off or didn't replace the painted over DODGE letters on the hood?
+LACoFireMuseum it's okay my dad had kinda a crappy truck when he was on.. during a fire (grass fire he drove a grass truck) the hose reel busted spraying water everywhere then his truck broke down.. at least he got it running again before he had to take off on foot back through the fire. another time they were on their way to a fire when his truck caught fire. first his siren went out so he was making a " wee woo" siren noise over the PA XD
Have you got a fire extinguisher in 51 now?
How I build my own Engine 51 in the dodge Sports truck?
Many people say there was only one but there has to have been at least 2.. sometimes you can see the Dodge letters on the front of the hood and sometimes you can't
i love that truck
I am trying to find out exactly what model GE radios and siren driver box and anything else are mounted in the center console area.
Do not know about the radio but the siren was the Federal Interceptor with yelp wail and hi low siren tones.
It probably caught fire because it is (here it comes) a Fire Truck!!
No they are a Water truck. I have never seen one shoot fire only Water.
I use to watch Emergency 51 as a kid, but all these years I was always curious about 1 question when it came to Squad 51. When that would run on a medic call, what or how would such a vehicle transport a patient to the hospital?
Private ambulance always responded with them. Usually Mayfair. Johhny or Roy and sometimes both, would ride with the ambulannce crew to Rampart.
what is the white light on top of the lightbar
Did it have the spotlights originally? I don't remember those.
yes yes it did

They shouldn't drive it and bring it around much anymore. Too many stupid drivers that can slam right into the squad
I think emergency should do is that make an new series of emergency. Find new john gage and Roy Desoto.

Yes, but not like what they've done to MacGyver, Chips, Odd Couple, or Hawaii Five-O
Yeah, like i said, the same location, modern types of the vehicles and a good story behind all of it.

Never be the same originals
I was curious how many squad51 were there?
@Justin Case is that why sometimes you can see the Dodge letters on the front hood and sometimes you can't.? Although Randolph mantooth claims there was only ever one squad.

it would been nice if he had shown the truck off a little bit.
@adamevans67
i have always wonder that too
Why did you join the boy Scotts

To bad all the cars are gone from Adam-12. The badges are even lost.
