Glad to see the bunk room. In many older stories that area was off-limits to outsiders. Glad to see LACoFD members are glad to offer tours to John Q Public.
wow i watched the tv show here in Australia as a little kid in the 70's it dosent look much different now to what it did in the 70's thank you for sharing .....awesome
Somehow this came up on my feed. Wicked awesome! Big fan of the show back in the 70's. Hilarious that with buildings now around the station, makes it look much smaller. Thanks for sharing and thanks to the Firefighters at Station 127 for their service!
I was a young man when this debuted on TV. Loved every episode of this. Later on I became a volunteer firefighter because this inspired me to protect and serve!! Respect to Station 51 and it's firefighters past and present!!
@@dougm6146 The best aspect of this show was it showed the combining of firefighter/paramedic response out of the same station. This truly set the stage for the future fire service we currently have. In the old days if someone was in cardiac or respiratory distress waiting for the ambulance was mostly a tragic outcome.
This was my favorite show when I was a kid , along with Adam 12 . I can still hear that series of tones going off when they would get a call , and the more tones there were , the bigger the Emergency . Very cool video . Brought back a lot of memories . 👍👍
Yeah, when the call went out to "Squad 51", it was just the paramedic truck by itself. If the call was "Engine 51"( which was rare), it was the big fire truck by itself. When the call was "Station 51", both big fire truck & paramedic truck went out together! Loved the show & still do. I grew up wathijg it & now i get to watch it at night now on Retro-TV😃👍🏼

I grew up watching Emergency and still watch the re-runs now because of this show I became a paramedic and always enjoyed my job until I couldn't do it anymore
I didn't grow up seeing it, but still have enjoyed it (the way I've seen it has been on DVD-- one of only a few select shows that, IMO, are truly worth your disc dollar).
I grew up watching this show . Early on I wanted to be a firefighter paramedic. Also watched the tv show swat . Back when you could actually play cops and robbers . Good times and allot of wonderful memories. Thanks for posting this .
It is so cool that these firefighters actually let you just come in and take you on a tour of the building. I imagine after a while would get old doing the same tour for different people all the time but it looks like these guys are just gracious as ever. Thank you for this tour. As you went along I was looking for little things like the red strobe light that would come on when there was a call. It's almost like that station is Frozen in Time except for the updated equipment in the flat screen TVs.
I was just there in Oct 2024. The firemen were so gracious and let me take a zillion pics! They said very little has been changed in the station since the filming such as the brick and wood. John Gage’s locker was open- has the Smokey Bear poster on the door and his uniform shirt and a very old tube of Colgate toothpaste! His turnout coat was in the closet where the trucks are parked (the bay?).
This was just like going back in time! I watched almost every episode of this show as I grew up in the '70s and enjoyed every part of this video, thank you so much for visiting and sharing it with all of us, and also thanks to the gentleman that took the time to show you around the firehouse, sometimes it's nice when things don't change.
Emergency is the TV show that created the idea of paramedics. Man oh man, just how cool is it to be a real firefighter working at the most famous fire station in the country.
Paramedic programs were already in existence by the time Emergency premiered on TV. 1 program in Miami, and the other in LA County. Both started in the late 60's. Emergency simply showcased paramedics and help spread interest in paramedics and EMS across the county.
I always loved watching TV series rampart 51 Outstanding nice tour If I ever make it to California I wanna go to that firehouse The person with the camera job well done Outstanding Double thumbs up
Great video! Thanks for filming and posting this. It's amazing on how little the station has changed since the 1970's. I too grew up watching Emergency and Adam 12 so this video was incredible. Thanks again for the great job!
Props to LA County for keeping it around for us relatively as is and letting people come by. Thanks for the upload too. I was a 6-9 year old Emergency! junkie. The Squad vehicle is my favorite vehicle of all time. There's something about its curves. I think I mainly caught early syndicated reruns at 4AM on Saturday or Sunday mornings in the mid and late 70s but not too sure. Anyone else catch it at odd hours back then?
This has got to be the best video on RUclips for Station 127! Has any one ever noticed while watching the show the difference in size between the real station (when they filmed on location) and the set station (at universal sound stage)? The real station is so much larger, but at the time when I originally watched it I never noticed it (of course I was between 9-15). I when I re-watch it I pick it off so fast!! This is so cool!! These Firefighters are so welcoming. Can't imagine how they felt when they got their papers to report for duty at Station 127!!
Great video touring the show's Firehouse. I suspect not many these days appreciate the true legacy of the show Emergency. Prior to it being on television, addressing medical emergencies was done by scooping patients up and getting them quickly to a hospital for treatment. It might be by a fire department, private ambulance or even a funeral hearse. The show proved that paramedics could be trained who could triage patients and provide initial stabilizing treatment on the way to the hospital. Now that's common just about everywhere.
This is correct. Before this show there were only a handful of large cities that had paramedics. People watched this show and asked their local politicians, "Why can't we have paramedics?" The first paramedics in the 1970s were ex-Viet Nam War combat medics. They already had the training and had seen everything on the battle fields.
Thanks, nice video! And thanks to the crew of Station 127 for the tour. I grew up watching Emergency. Spent over 10 years in the fire service. Hugely inspired by that show. Awesome video! As a young kid growing up in the 70's, "Emergency!" was (and still is) one of my favorite TV shows, along with "Adam-12," "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "Battlestar Galactica." We have all 7 Seasons (DVD) of "Emergency!" (along with the tele-movies) on a PLEX Server, and my wife and I still watch "Emergency!" regularly. "Emergency!" was/is a great realistic TV show without all of the fake drama or reality garbage of today's television shows. It is also great to see that they try to keep "Station 51" still looking somewhat like it originally did after all of these years. Although, those giant flat screen TVs are a lot better than that old CRT television that Johnny was always "repairing."....lol. It is also cool to see that the actual firemen take the time to show the station to die-hard fans. Someday, we will have to drive down to Carson and check out the station. Thanks for the video, it brought back some great memories. KMG-365! 🙂
Yeah after seeing this I really need to take drive to Los Angeles, California and see this fire department from the tv series and take still pictures from the outside. Thank you for sharing!
Met Engineer Stoker in the mid 80's he was stationed at LA County 21 in Lawndale. We were in the unincorporated portion of Hawthorne which at that time did have their own fire department but only service the actual incorporated area. I had a bit of a mishap with a pair of scissors. Nothing serious, just had a bandaged finger for a week. At some point after we left in 1993 Hawthorne ended dropping their fire service and went with LA County Fire.
Loved this. We went last year, but they were on a call. So we only got to see the outside. Might go back next year and hopefully see it all. They are the reason why, I served as an paramedic. “The Show” jump started the EMS in the US. They have saved thousands of lives.
Thanks guys! This brought back lots of memories. Emergency! actually is what started me looking at a career in EMS, I spent the past 40+ years in Public Safety, currently I am a Shift Supervisor at a 911 dispatch center.
Johnny and Roy were the reason I became a paramedic. To see what being a paramedic back in the 70's compared with today's medics. Crazy how far prehospital healthcare has come. Station 51 KMG-365
great video! just stopped by yesterday & the firefighters on duty were very kind. before that we went to LA Firefighters Museum nearby, which is great too & includes lots of Emergency! memorabilia as well
Man what a great video. Thank you SO much for taking the time to do it. I watched that show when I was a kid. Now I can only watch it on reruns. Man I am 60 years old. I remember Roy and John, Dixie and Dr. Bracket. Dixie and Dr. Early were actually married in real life. But thanks again you guys have a Happy New Year.
I was a firefighter back when the show was popular. Used to roll my eyes at some of the stuff they did. They were really hung up on IV solutions of D5W, and all kinds of other crap.
Damn, been living near Carson for over 20 years, moved further south, and had never thought of finding the location of Station 51, and enjoyed watching it on TV.
I've driven past this place a million times. Always knew it was the station used for the show, but never knew they had so much tribute stuff in there, or that it was still so un-remodeled. Very cool.
I love the show also. You are right. Although, it is on Cozi tv at 11am, 12 noon, and 1pm. Because I am watching it right now. But the more episodes on the better. I have a relative who became a Paramedic\ firefighter because of this show. He has the entire series on dvd. He is happy.
Very cool! Hasn't changed much ( exterior.) Interior was a TV set, and not sure how accurate it was. Interesting to see Cinadar's (sp?) name on the station, one of the show's creators I think? I am also from Wisconsin, well, I lived there quite awhile. La Crosse.
Indeed so-- Cinader (that's the spelling of his last name) had this station renamed for him in '85, three years after his passing (he passed on in '82 while doing Knight Rider), because he was the creator and executive producer (showrunner), IIRC; that's why his name is on that historical marker out front, and why the station is called the Robert A. Cinader Memorial Fire Station. Also, Universal, the studio behind it (the late Jack Webb's Mark VII label being IAW them) has an actual Station 51 on their premises, to honor Emergency!'s legacy.
Glad to see the bunk room. In many older stories that area was off-limits to outsiders. Glad to see LACoFD members are glad to offer tours to John Q Public.
Best kind of public relations there is.
That was awesome. Emergency was my favorite show back then and I still watch today when I can. Who could ever forget KMG-365??
LA County still has that license, but its not used anymore because the fire dept switched to UHF.
I use it as some passwords because it is encrypted.. Emergency is on COZI TV in New England.

I had a bit of a mishap with a pair of scissors. Nothing serious, just had a bandaged finger for a week. At some point after we left in 1993 Hawthorne ended dropping their fire service and went with LA County Fire.
Love the show Emergency .I grew up watching that show.
Loved this. We went last year, but they were on a call. So we only got to see the outside. Might go back next year and hopefully see it all. They are the reason why, I served as an paramedic. “The Show” jump started the EMS in the US. They have saved thousands of lives.
When I got there, just walked in and they were very nice in greeting me. Had a blast! 😊
I was a 70s kid, and this brings back a lot of memories. Thank you. 🚨 🔊
Your welcome 😁
Thank you for this. Spent a lot of time watching the show.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Thanks guys! This brought back lots of memories. Emergency! actually is what started me looking at a career in EMS, I spent the past 40+ years in Public Safety, currently I am a Shift Supervisor at a 911 dispatch center.
It was a blast 😊
Thank you for your service 😁
I remember this show when I was young I loved this show!
When i was a little kid back in the 70's i was obssesed with fireman and firetrucks emergency and the towering inferno was my favs
Fantastic , also a fan since I was a kid .
Thanks for sharing this .
Johnny and Roy were the reason I became a paramedic. To see what being a paramedic back in the 70's compared with today's medics. Crazy how far prehospital healthcare has come. Station 51 KMG-365
Found the entire series on Amazon and my son and I have been watching through them. So much fun! Thanks for this peek into history.
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
You are so welcome! 😊
Tks buddy. Great job. Brought back memories. ☮️
I TOTALLY dug that! My favorite show as a kid. Great tour !

Thank you :)
great video! just stopped by yesterday & the firefighters on duty were very kind. before that we went to LA Firefighters Museum nearby, which is great too & includes lots of Emergency! memorabilia as well
Glad you liked it 😊
Great video! Thanks for the memories!
Your welcome 😁
Nostalgia. I used to get so excited as a 5 year old kid when I heard the sirens on TV
Emergency was so much more than just a TV show, It changed the entire world of first response, Nice that they named the station after Robert Cinader
Love this! I instantly recognized the building,
Emergency is a favorite show of both my husband and son.
Emergency inspired my younger brother to become a fire fighter paramedic. Loved the show! Thanks for taking the time to post your tour.
Had fun doing it 😊
I watch re runs daily, loved this Show
Man what a great video.
Very cool.
Great video...Thanks.
As you arrive, there's a glimpse of apparatus behind the station. Which is that?
Awesome!! One of my favorites! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
That sure brought back memories, thanks 😊
Our pleasure!
Outstanding vid, guys! Thank you.
Had fun making it. ☺️
Wow amazing. So nice
They have this. This show started something great for the fire EmS service. Thank You. ❤❤❤❤❤
Great stuff. I loved this show as a kid. Still watch it on MeTV. Thanks for the tour!! 🚒
I love the show also. You are right. Although, it is on Cozi tv at 11am, 12 noon, and 1pm. Because I am watching it right now. But the more episodes on the better. I have a relative who became a Paramedic\ firefighter because of this show. He has the entire series on dvd. He is happy.
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
This is great. Thanks for the tour! Memories!!
Had fun doing it 😊
My favourite show when I was a kid. I thought they filmed it at Universal Studios. This station still looks amazing and well maintained
I loved this show every sat night after hee haw then emergancy then love boat then fantasy island had a big crush on nurse dixie 😁
At work we would call the show "training films". To me the show was more realistic then the stuff on the today.
True that-- this didn't have (or seem to have) a lot of the objectionable content (and other nonsense) that has defined many "rescue" shows of today.
Like Dragnet and Adam-12, the producers wanted realism.
Agree. But Chicago Fire is the most realistic
Ha, we called them training films as well. Retired CalFire Captain 🚒
A documentary maker for Lacfd said it was as real as they could make it
Thanks for sharing this, I still watch it every night from 10 to 12 here in NC.
