Tomorrow's episode will be a 5 hour loop of Scooby Doo impressions while sorting through Christmas items, and Halloween's episode will be Patrick naked at the hotel in the dark, animalistically eating about 200 pounds of Halloween candy from 1978 with Alex mysteriously nowhere to be found...

Someone may have already commented on this but the bias tape thingy is not a tape dispenser. It is a fabric store display stand for packages of bias tape. Bias tapes are long strips of fabric cut bias to the weave and folded. A person uses them for binding edges when sewing. The divisions in the stand were for the different colors and sizes of the bias tape.

I would've just taken down the blinds, opened the window, removed the screen, and passed all those flats of cans out the window. It's how we used to pass our groceries into our apartment. Our parking space was right near our kids' bedroom so every Costco trip we'd just open the window and remove the screen. A lot better than schlepping everything around the building to the back entrance to get to our door. Just a thought.

The owners made the right call to sell the content. They got good money for it and save themselves months of trouble and pain. This is really hard work and you need expert knowledge to be able to do it that quickly. Imagine googling each and every object to see if it's worth something. You would need years to finish.

The randomness of the contents of the boxes reminds me of what's in boxes at estate auction sales. When auctioneers empty out a house they put a few good things in a box and then add miscellaneous items to get rid of them. So the bidder gets the collectibles they want plus alot of random filler. Maybe this homeowner was addicted to auctions and had garage sales to get rid of some of the excess. The family would probably know how the owner acquired all this stuff. I'm glad to see some of the good stuff finally.

The first box was in the last video and parts shown twice, it is a little worrying and he still has to get all the good stuff back to Castners and sorted by December. Alex needs a big shed to sort in and take his time where Castners can then come in and auction from there to take the pressure off.

Having had some doubts about Alexander's ROI at this house, based on the limited information from his updates, I now predict he will be happy with the profit he makes. This series is entertaining and shows just how much energy/time is needed for the task. Enjoying Patrick's humour and admire the great work ethic they both have. I also enjoy reading the comments where people help with items, like the speakers Alex couldn't find in his research, that someone has suggested may be Altec Lansing. Alexander and Melissa must have thick skins reading through some of the comments telling Alex what he should/ought/needs to do... someone telling him to get "wifey" involved with sorting at their home was one of the most startling!

It looks like this house has just been used for storage for a very long time...I am inclined to agree, and thus I suspect the personal belongings like jewelry were likely wherever the people who used to live there, where currently living. So I suspect maybe an older couple or a widow who left this home and moved into an apartment or assisted living. I doubt he's going to find a whole lot of jewelry - just a hunch - that it was already moved out.

Yeah, I think these folks wanted to be like you, Alex but they just didn’t have the wherewithal to get it done and it got away from them. Add in hoarding and this is the result. Smalls, aka garage sale items could have been their bread and butter for all the collectibles that take longer to sell.
Of course they decided to do it all from home which obviously got the better of them.
Still, they’re pretty good hoarders. The biggest thing you’re having to deal with is dust. It doesn’t even seem like there’s a lot of breakage, or mold. You can’t see the floor because of boxes not because everything is everywhere.
One wonders if they’d have had as much trouble selling off the good stuff if someone could have helped them?
At least to me their mentality seems considerably different than the hoarders we’ve seen and you’ve shown us.
I even think the bottles and cans were and effort to save until they became collectible.
I’m betting in their day they had great garage sales. It’d be neat to find out if the guy who talked to you knows about the sales.
I wonder if they ever cataloged all their stuff? Probably not.

He has at least 50 boxes of VHS tapes and is convinced they are worth lots but, never puts them out in his own yard sales. He has a 52 foot trailer almost packed with furniture and DVDs plus an 80 foot mobile home he started putting things into along with 1 tons and 2 motor homes stuffed.
He says its his retirement fund, I told him he needs to sell it before he dies to be a fund. He's not emotionally attached to any of it but buys way more than he sells.
