  • In this video I discuss and then demonstrate how to upgrade the firmware on a Roland FR-8x. In this example I will be going from version 2.50 to version 2.52.
    Items needed for the update:
    1.) The Roland FR-8x Accordion
2.) Power Supply (Roland recommends doing the update with the accordion plugged in)
3.) A USB stick (must be formatted as fat32)
4.) The zip file downloaded from Roland (in this case fr8x_sys_v252_e.zip)
    5.) About 10 mins

Thank you for viewing my video. Now for your question: First, if you have a standard FR-8x you will need to use the second folder after following the video since you have version 1.00. You would repeat the same steps as before with the other files. However, from what you are saying, I am thinking you have the Dallape edition of the FR-8x and you will need to get the updates from that support page and not the ones for the standard. Here is the webpage for that download: www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/fr-8x_dallape/updates_drivers/f30db5ce-4e90-43e9-ad8f-0c34602d8771/ They also have instructions on the page and between those and my video you should be able to update without a problem. I hope this has helped.

Hi Joe. Thanks for the helpful info. I just did the update, but it says not to turn the accordion off until all of the led lights are on (for the second portion of the update). But all of the led lights went on, except for the REC button. After 45 minutes the led button never went on. Is this a problem? Thanks
