Hello friends :) i shared a voice message on one of Morgan’s videos about my daughter Caroline and a happy Christmas memory we had together. Shes doing so well, healthy and happy and starting to talk! She is six and autistic and has cystic fibrosis. Just wanted to thank you all for your kind responses on that message last year. It means to much to me :) my words are inner harmony, love and growth.

Emily’s message is so true! Decades ago I cut ties with some family members who were constantly being toxic. Dealing with them was stressful all the time. One day I was taking a shower and feeling miserable and crying about my life and having to deal with these people. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, I had a realization that the only reason why I’m miserable is because it was my fault for allowing these toxic people around me and nothing would change unless I did something about it. For me, I reminded myself that I would never put up with that much toxicity from anyone else so I shouldn’t put up with it coming from family.
So do I want to have the rest of my life being miserable or do I want the rest of my life being happy? I chose happiness! I immediately started making plans and within 2 months I moved and cut ties. I told those family members that I didn’t want anything to do with them and for them to never contact me. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself in my entire life and I have been extremely happy ever since. ❤
You deserve to be happy and to be treated with respect, you are very brave and so proud of you 💜💜
Emily's message resonated with me too. A decade ago I had to make the same choice and although it was one of the hardest things I ever did, I can truly say it saved my life.
Harry Styles has a song called Matilda. The lyrics are something that everyone in toxic family situations/relations should listen to. Sort of like a healing for the soul.
All of your videos are special, but this one was particularly heartwarming ❤. The core values activity and laughing so hard with a friend you can't even breathe is just the best ordinary magic! Also, when Landon was talking about enjoying Christmas activities, all I could think was: "The first rule of guys Christmas Club is we don't talk about guys Christmas Club" 😂

I just did that core values exercise with my psychologist recently and came out with kindness, trust and learning as my big three. Kindness is really the most important thing in my life.

What a wonderful exercise to take part in Morgan. I really enjoyed it. I think putting the words that we ended up with as our core values on a sticky note and placing it on the bathroom mirror is a great idea. Your healthy mac and cheese and cookies looked delicious. So nice to see Randi too. I loved when you both got the giggles and could not stop laughing. Looked like a fun girls night.

I did the core values exercise and found it so interesting. Although I wasn’t surprised at the five values that I picked, I realized that if I had done the same exercise 10 years ago when I was still working and had a career, (I’ve been retired 5yrs) a lot of my value choices would have been completely different. And, some of those choices may not have been the best values for my mental health. I loved that both you and Landon did it together and it was really fun to watch. Thank you so much for sharing this. In answer to your question at the beginning of the video, I am doing so much better than i was last year. I found your channel last year when struggling with intense anxiety and depression. This year SO much has changed and while the growth was painful, i am now in the best place mentally I've ever been in my life. I watch your videos every morning (in December) while doing 30 minutes of light therapy to prevent seasonal depression and I am now in regular therapy for my deeper issues.
One of the things i had to do this year in order to start healing was to cut contact with my parents. I so appreciated you including the voice message today about cutting contact with family. I've been enduring abuse from them my entire life and this year hit a "no more" breaking point, when something happened that was critical but too sensitive to discuss with anyone other than my closest friends. Many people don't understand, and feel very uncomfortable when they find out that I've done this, but i know it was crucial and necessary and good. So it feels both incredibly liberating, and sad and strange, to be apart from my parents during the holidays for the first time. Sorry for the long comment but i just wanted to say thank you for opening up the conversation about cutting contact ❤️

I have been struggling. I had to put my dog of 6 years down 2 weeks ago and am adjusting to the silence and emptiness of not having him around. It has been tough still going to work and graduate school. These videos give me so much comfort though.

I really relate to Emily 's message, you can make your own tribe/family. I also feel it is so important to not anybody dull your sparkle in this world. I work as a Teacher's aide in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary, here in Perth Western Australia our school year has just finished, I am on Summer/Christmas holidays and utterly exhausted from end of year madness that is school. I love it, but always allow myself now time to distress and also let myself recover from it all and just be. It is why I feel it is so important to send time with those who value and love you. It is not worth the stress or let down that is being with toxic and put down kind of people, Just because they are blood related doesn't give them the right.
Hope everyone has happy holidays and I am sending some summer fun to you all in the Northern hemisphere.

That was a great exercise! Thank you for sharing! I did something similar in therapy where she had a very large deck of cards with these and similar words on them. The deck was broken down in different stacks and basically she had me narrow down all the cards to 5 (through a whole process, I didn't just choose 5 cards). It's good to know some of those final words matched up with the values I tried with this exercise. We're going through a tough time mentally and we (my husband and I) both feel change in the air and its simultaneously exciting and anxiety inducing so this was a great exercise to keep my values in order. Thanks again! I'm having so much fun watching these Vlogmas videos 🎄
