You know, as great as Greg is as a Bass expert and as entertaining it is to hear his expert description of the instruments, it's an even bigger treat to just hear him PLAY. He should, without question, be the formally announced host of Thumpin' Thursdays at Norm's. No brainer, win-win.
Cpl things I look frwrd to on Thursdays; payday and Greg the man stomping on a classic bass for us all. Just awesome to see you guys celebrating these instruments and the massive and often overlooked bottom end. Txs again guys n gal.
Great to have a bass guy!! And that electric guitar guy Bonamasa, what an album he dropped, Royale Tea, is blowing my mind just how great it is.......🍁
Beautiful bass. I have a MIJ FSR re-issue of that bass. Mine has the matching headstock also. I put lollipop tuners on it. Its very sweet, but I bet the real thing is incredible. Thanks
I have a 1966 (Aug) vintage Jazz Bass in white with tortie pickguard, identical to this one except for pearloid block inlays and a non-matching headstock.. A great bass, and a keeper. The example demo'd here is a real beauty!
The front cover is not original; not flat enough. It is from the Seventies, I have one so I know. Still it is a Beautiful Bass! Transition model. I had a transition ‘66 Jazzmaster. Bound dot neck.

Well,I can’t please everyone so I’m trying to show what these basses sound like as flat and clear as possible. Whether it’s flats or rounds, someone always has a criticism-which is fine. If you want to hear the low end use some speakers that can reproduce what’s happening in the room,it DOES help.
@@gregcoates4281 Hi Greg I love this video, you’re a great player! I’m saving up to get a Custom shop ‘65 Jazz bass, bound board with dots and the stacked knobs from 1960-1962. Foam Green with a matching headstock! Fingers crossed I can get the money soon!
This dude is the best thing that ever happened to thumpin Thursday!
Yup!
I'm just waiting for lemmo to step aside. Greg only needs one introduction. That day was long ago.
Yes!
Thanks for the Geddy licks Greg!🎸

Wait.... Dots, AND bound, AND matching head-cap, AND Greg playin' it?!?!? Awwww shit, here we GO! 👍
Hell yeah Gregs a cool dude. JPJ right off the bat with some In the Light. ✌
Here comes the memories. My bass player played exactly the same bass with the matching headstock. Great playing. Love it.
That's a beauty! BRW on the f/b makes this one a no-brainer. And some Geddy too! Love these Thumpin' Thursdays!
Greg gets BETTER every time!!!!

The name of the new band is gonna be The Midday Munchies!
Cool, when's the debut!...🍁
What happened to the previous bass player?
Totally
I own a killer rarities Jazz Bass, I love it.
If I had one, this would be the bass. Well done Greg.
Layin' it down! Sweet!

Oh wht, Lemmo listens to Buckley?!? Get thumpin Thursday as always
I love listening to Greg playing bass - but - What Happened to Cody?
My Dad has a 67-68 Fender Jazz Bass that goes to me .
"Frets are almost perfect..." - so we strung it up with round wounds to fix that problem. :-)
😆 yep!?!
Sweeeet !!
Lemmo and Greg - Efternoon Edibles
We should club together and buy it for Greg as a thank you for performing a sterling job on Thursdays
Does it come with matching hair like Greg’s?
😆😆😆
I’ll give you my girl’s number-she’s great!
How far does Greg travel each Thumping Thursday to get to Norm’s ? 🚴♀️
👌
Heccck yea geddy
Whats the song/lick at 7:16 ?
It’s a snippet of “Mountain Song” by Jane’s Addiction
best year ever ... 66
It's the same colour as his hair!
Beach Boy Blonde!
Five Finger Death Punch - Jekyll And Hyde
How does he stay so thin?
I eat like a horse... probably screwed up my pituitary gland cutting weight during my wrestling years...
@@gregcoates4281 Right on. Cool shirt too Dodgers look good this year.
@@thetoddkeith right on man-yeah that shirt celebrates a couple SoCal institutions in a weird mash up 😆
When you got a pair and can play like it you can get away with a mullet, pink spandex, just about anything.
Suddenly, I crave vanilla ice cream. 🤔

The guards over the pickups are driving me..
Crazy
They are like running with weights, for sure 😆
You can make the colour match his hair or not with your head
also no way you know what the pickups are
they're there :)
