Guys guys, yes he made newb mistakes, but three things. 1. No one wants to listen to you if you're mean/whiny about it. 2. Best just to give tips and tricks like "One suggestion I would make would be to set everything on non conductive packaging or cardboard." Rather to being a douche about it. 3. In the end he didn't shock it, so get over it, if he does continue to build this way he will indeed end up frying a component, but freaking out won't help so just give advice rather to freaking out ok?
On a carpet? Dude, there is a thing that I call micro shocks (like micro abrasions but shocks). Basically it ruins the transistors on a molecular level. After a while, you will notice a difference. I had this issue too.
All these ESD comments are funny. I have literally built hundreds of PC's over the last eight years and never had a problem with any sort of ESD. It is usually a self-solving problem. As in, you touch the case when you move it to get it into position to fit the component and unless you decided to position the case, shuffle across your nylon carpet and back THEN pick up the component and fit it...you're fine. Sure, you can be anal retentive about it, heck I sure was when I first started building (anti-static strap or anti-static gloves were a MUST whenever I touched any component), but in reality, it simply isn't necessary.
you do realize that the PC case isn't grounded unless you have fitted the power supply, don't you? it's never a good idea to work over carpet, because then you are at the mercy of the motherboards built in ESD protection which in modern systems is pretty good, but not something you want to completely rely on and throw caution to the wind. chances are working over carpet won't hurt anything, although the risk is higher.
I love building PCs. Last week I got a new case an Wifi card, so it almost felt like building a new machine when I transferred all my old parts to the new case!
People get bent over this computer stuff! I'm sure the majority of the viewers on this video aren't aware of asmr. Since they are all down in the comments bitching about static and having socks on carpet! It's supposed to be relaxing. So relax!
Haha I get where your coming from... But the comments below are right it's stuff you shouldn't do, but it's not my computer so hey, but on the plus side he'll know for next time :)
when i built my first gaming pc, i dropped $1500 on all the parts, and i stood on carpet and built it on a couch. also i kept turning it on without all the parts in it, and i forgot to plug some stuff in when i finished. so i had to redo it. When i was done on about the third try, it worked, but the cable management was horrible, i blocked one half of the pc from the other. so it got really hot and it warned me that it was getting hot, so i turned it off, and i duck taped all the wires together, then tapped them to the case. BUT you gotta give me some slack, i was 10 years old and for the money i saved up for about a year, $20 a week allowance + christmas/birthday money. this was back in 2009 or so. thats when i got my first decent gaming pc. i still have it, but it doesnt run games that well any more. it has win 7 which is good, but it only runs games on low or medium settings at 1080p, there is the occasional game it will run at higher, but its just meant for games made before 2012. oh btw i fixed the cable management and i used a static thing, and i fixed all the noob mistakes that i made when i was 10 years old and built it. im 16 now and iv built countless pc's since then, i even build them for other people and thats how i make my money. its a lot better than a minimum wage job and i get to do something i enjoy in the comfort of my own home. i built several gaming pcs for people at my high school, and i build at least one per week and i sell it on ebay for more than it costed to build. Works really well. When im older and have the money to do so, im going to start a company and maybe do it for a living, and im gonna get a degree in either buisness or computer/electronic engineering. You never know it might actually take off and i might become a millionaire... or even a billionaire.
Horsman4James owch only 10 a month? hey you have a pc right now, ask for 750 ti for christmas its only $120, and you can put it in your desktop. im 16 now, i had a job, and if i still did i would build a pc for you because i usually dont use the entire $150 a week. but i quit my job because i saved up and got all the stuff i wanted, i used about $20 a week out of the money, and saved some of the rest, and in fact i got a few of my friends into pc gaming by putting a gpu in their pc that they had, and i got them steam. i have a lot of old gpus i love collecting old video games and computers (you can probs tell by my name). If you dont have a desktop, i know a way that you can still have a gpu, just get this attachment: www.amazon.com/Laptop-External-PCI-E-Graphics-Card/dp/B00Q4VMLF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1444646266&sr=8-1&keywords=EXP+GDC it lets you use a gpu with a laptop, its pretty cool i got one myself to see if it worked, and it did, i used it on an old win 7 2010 laptop, that had 2 gigs of ram, i put 8 gigs in it and then i put a ssd in it and then the gpu thing and it would play most games on medium settings in 720p, when i hooked it to a 1080p monitor it had no problem running them at 1080p. i put a gtx 750 ti on it. it plays dying light at 40 - 60 fps 1080p medium settings. so its pretty playable.
Horsman4James oh and heres some advice on making more money - however little you get payed, save it up for a while and once you get enough invest it. you could easily turn that 10 dollars a month into a lot more, you could be making 1000s a year. just get enough, buy some candy and sell it at school for a profit, it isnt illegal, it may be against your school rules but just dont advertise it to much, just sell to your friends and that will get you quite a bit of extra money actually. Another thing you can do is save your money, get a paypal card and make a paypal account, and sell stuff on ebay. After the buyer pays you use the money to buy it off amazon and have it shipped to them. So what i would do is find something on amazon for lets say $20, then list it on ebay for $35, then after they pay i would put their address in on amazon and have it shipped to them, free $15 for minimal work. i know a friend who makes like 300 a week off doing this. i have a few more tips if you want them
I built a computer on carpet recently :/ nothing bad happened. Just don't rub your feet and components all over the ground or wear a suit of carpet armor :)
Dude your youtube profile pic is Big boss, your youtube name is Dash Rendar, and you're building a computer while doing it in ASMR! You're like my new best friend xD
I've watched quite a few of your videos today (they are of very good quality), and I can't help but notice how handy you are! Is there anything you cannot do? lol
you guys the wrapping for motherboards is actualy not ideal for this type of thing your better off and more safe just setting it ontop of your box, if i'm not mistaken the plastic anti static stuff is actualy designed to discharge you and safly keep it off the motherboard the outside i believe is actualy conductive... if anything your making it easier to short out the motherboard from a spark... now i havn't looked into that in detail but thats what i've read and heard... look into it...
Cool vid, like watch people Build things. Think you could do one where you don't make yourself As aware that your trying to create ASMR based sounds? Just kinda let it flow naturally? I never see anyone do that
Dont worry I took care, that there were not any big ESD's coming from me. And I removed the back plate, because it would not fit into the computer case with the big one. There was also a smaller plate included in the package, but I dont need one, because the whole board is internally, its not in a proper ATX housing.
love asmr and i built my pc about a year ago intel i7 16gb ram msi z77a g41 mother board gigabyte gtx 680 gpu 800w power supply corsair graphite 600t case and she purrs like a kitten
Ja. Danke. Habe dich natürlich auch abonniert. Deine Stimme ist toll. Freut einen doch immer, wieder einen Deutschmuttersprachler zu finden, der die gleiche Leidenschaft teilt. Mach weiter so! cheers Mach weiter so.
Yeah. I feel the same. Every time new technology comes out, I want to build a new PC. Lol. Even though its totally unnecessary, since I mostly use my Laptop anyway. To bad you cant build your own notebooks. :(
I have heard that saying! Well, if you're suggesting that you are like such a creature, then you must be very helpful, even if you are not ultra-specialized.
Nah, the cooler had pre applied thermal paste on it :) put something what i noticed is, thay he pressed the processor when he put it in place, its used to just put it in place with no force
+Kyle Aldrich lol i have an i7 6core and i dont use thermal paste..it just helps cooling mine is going for about 3 months whitout problems..just as remider :]
+YourName |CS:GO Content The stock fan has thermal paste already applied and spread on the heatsink, so it's likely got thermal paste anyway, modern non server processors can't survive without thermal paste if you're running it like a normal PC. I once had to repair a friends computer where they had unevenly applied the paste and basically fried the cpu, it was only a quad core at that.
Can I put my new pc parts in the cart? I think it would be a good idea for pc's to come with carts to hold your grammar. Since you obviously forgot to install it.
Even though this video was posted 8 years ago it still gives me tingles galore
Maybe this is old but apart the fantastic sound, this remind me that with 400 dollars you could make a good PC. Old times...
Both my favorite things! PC building and ASMR. You deserve a like. :D

aquoslover200 well said
I have spent soooo long looking for a video like this! Finally I have found it! :)
On a carpet? Dude, there is a thing that I call micro shocks (like micro abrasions but shocks). Basically it ruins the transistors on a molecular level. After a while, you will notice a difference. I had this issue too.
Great job! Really loved the sounds of the box and your tapping :)
I got excited when I saw this in my sub box, I love watching unboxing videos, especially ones with electronic things. This was an awesome video.
This has made me so nostalgic for the computer building norms from around the time this video was made, good sounds, good parts, a classic.
yea I'm a geek lmao that was rather enjoyable to watch though I already know how to build it was still oddly satisfying to watch. thanks for the share
All these ESD comments are funny. I have literally built hundreds of PC's over the last eight years and never had a problem with any sort of ESD.

Rocket Raccoon OMG....Rocket!!!!!

New PC part are great. I love buying, unpacking and building a new PC from parts, or even just an upgrade.
Is there a 2nd part too?
I love building PCs. Last week I got a new case an Wifi card, so it almost felt like building a new machine when I transferred all my old parts to the new case!
Thermal compound! And an ESD nightmare haha!
pc master race

I love the attention to sound in building this A+
I loved this video and l don't care if you are in a carpet or whatever! Nice and relaxing. You got my subscription bro ;)
Hahaha I just saw in suggestions "building computer 2 (on carpet again)" absolutely brilliant mate :)
i wish there were more vids like this. this is gold😃
This makes my mouth water. Then I usually pass out :P
Youre on the carpet with socks on and you put your motherboard on the conductive outer surface of the bag. Wtf.
no thermal paste?
always turn the antistatic bag inside out before putting the motherboard on it-the outside is conductive.
milkerfish i built my PC and found that to be true.
have you looked at any benchmarks? you will see that the amd averages 5-6 fps higher on some games and on metro 2033 it is 20-30 fps higher than an i5

+VideoGameCollecting101 sounds like fun, i get 10 dollars a month for allowance, so i guess i'm not having a good pc till i get a job..

+VideoGameCollecting101 TLDR, but thanks.
I built a computer on carpet recently :/ nothing bad happened. Just don't rub your feet and components all over the ground or wear a suit of carpet armor :)
The Bin lol.
no thermal paste? D:
Omg building a PC on a carpet :O Thats a static disaster just w8ing to happen!
BEST ASMR VIDEO ABOUT PCs
Dude your youtube profile pic is Big boss, your youtube name is Dash Rendar, and you're building a computer while doing it in ASMR! You're like my new best friend xD

As aware that your trying to create ASMR based sounds? Just kinda let it flow naturally? I never see anyone do that
kev hutch I'll consider that, thanks.
I would install OpenBSD with XFCE4 or GNOME2. Securest OS you'll get!
is this the first time you build your pc ? cuz ive a feeling the way you instal things is like a first timer
Whats wrong with wearing socks on the carpet? What if it's kinda cold in there.
he's building a pc, wearing socks on carpet will produce static electricity and could ruin the pc parts.
You are a fucking idiot....
building with socks on a carpet? Smart.
Building nekd pro lvl computer building
Nice video, just needs more light to eliminate the shadows.
bad idea doing it on carpet with your socks on. why did you take off the back plate from the nic card? :(
I can't believe you did that on carpet. Hope it runs well for you!
Dont worry I took care, that there were not any big ESD's coming from me. And I removed the back plate, because it would not fit into the computer case with the big one. There was also a smaller plate included in the package, but I dont need one, because the whole board is internally, its not in a proper ATX housing.
Well, what are the specs? XD
But can it play crisis???
as long as you always touch the case or an anti static band you are fine
love asmr and i built my pc about a year ago
intel i7
16gb ram
msi z77a g41 mother board
gigabyte gtx 680 gpu
800w power supply
corsair graphite 600t case
and she purrs like a kitten
Ja. Danke. Habe dich natürlich auch abonniert. Deine Stimme ist toll. Freut einen doch immer, wieder einen Deutschmuttersprachler zu finden, der die gleiche Leidenschaft teilt. Mach weiter so!
cheers
Mach weiter so.
1. Don't do that on a carpet or with socks on.
2. Don't put the components on top of antistatic bags. They are highly conductive on the outside.
Yeah. I feel the same. Every time new technology comes out, I want to build a new PC. Lol. Even though its totally unnecessary, since I mostly use my Laptop anyway. To bad you cant build your own notebooks. :(
Please tell me you weren't doing this on carpet!
I’m about to get into high school and this is one of the courses I’m taking. I’ll mainly use my pc for WOW.
I have heard that saying! Well, if you're suggesting that you are like such a creature, then you must be very helpful, even if you are not ultra-specialized.
Socks, carpet, and electronics? I too like to live dangerously. :)
No thermal paste especially on an APU? Wtf.
Blind?
TIM is pre applied on the stock cooler and also, that's not an APU.
chill video, but you forgot to put thermal paste on your cpu, no?
Nah, the cooler had pre applied thermal paste on it :) put something what i noticed is, thay he pressed the processor when he put it in place, its used to just put it in place with no force
I was thinking the same
Stock AMD coolers come with pre-applied thermal paste, as do Intel coolers.
mine
amd fx 8350 at 5 ghz
32 gb ram at 2133 mhz
crossfire radeon 7870
asus sabertooth mobo
well, i can do lots of things, but nothing really good. have you ever heared of the theory of an egg producing wool-milk-pig? probably not
thos eare the biggest ram sticks ive ever seen
Well you can get other people to dot. Haha ironside has nice custom laptops.
Great I love it :D
Just a reminder not to forget thermal paste, I hope you didn't burn out your processor bro
+Kyle Aldrich Stock coolers come paste already applied to the heat sink.
+Kyle Aldrich lol i have an i7 6core and i dont use thermal paste..it just helps cooling mine is going for about 3 months whitout problems..just as remider :]

+Softskills are you insane. It will be overheating like fuck and you'll destroy the chip while it throttles.
***** i have no thermal paste max temp.70* and it lasted over a year now :)
I have the 8350 and it beats any intel in gaming and I use my computer for a lot of things at once
Probably not. I have put everything together already.
great video
2020?
It's already on the heat sink.
I didn't know ASMR is this old-
Higher end AMD is just as good as high medium end I7's, don't judge a book by it's cover, you'd be surprised...
Hahaha, ohje, ich hab gar nicht bemerkt, dass du auch Deutsch bist! Fail. :D Vielen Dank, mach du auch weiter so! ;)
that's not a pc thats just a motherboard with a LITTLE graphics cart
its a wireless lan card haha
obviously you know your pc stuff haha
Can I put my new pc parts in the cart? I think it would be a good idea for pc's to come with carts to hold your grammar. Since you obviously forgot to install it.
how fucking nerdy can one be
jesus let him be
... And then the system blew up shortly after start up due to static.
I cringe seeing all these components sitting on a carpet, ESD just waiting to happen.
this mans pc didnt even have a fucking case, what kind of bs is this?
Hey I found someone took your video the channel is massage therapy they have this video .
My desktop is a nuke
Oh god I cringed when you pushed down on the CPU ;_;
Did anyone else noticed he pressed down on the cpu. That's a big NO NO
working on carpet? DISLIKED, UNSUBSCRIBED, REPORTED FOR CHILD ABUSE.
You can. Just not legally.
boom
give.
What is life anymore
You mean videos? So far not, no.
Don't put it on the bag.
Wtf im doing here
No.
If you think AMD sucks, you know nothing about computers.
l extase ! on sent fou de ses chaussettes !
Not at an enjoyable framerate.
