Absolutely awesome video. I was so anxious about replacing my (expensive) lamp in my (expensive) projector, and having seen this I did it without a hitch in under 10 minutes. No messing around, no lengthy preamble, no marketing chutzpah, just straight to it. And it's easy!
Tom, thank you for the tutorial. Do you have recommendations on where to procure a genuine Optoma Lamp? My HD146X is needing a new lamp and I am concerned to find so many shady sites and vendors. I want to make sure I procure a genuine part.
Hi DanielSunnyAZ, Thanks so much for your comment and for watching! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! Don't forget to like and subscribe (if you haven't already), so you never miss any Optoma stuff! :D -Tom from Optoma
I was lucky and your video applied to my projector, the HD27. But you should put model# in the video title, because instructions are different for other models. The hard part for me is knowing which case screws to unscrew, which definitely varies by model. Especially when the HD27 manual omits them and tells me (ugh) to see my reseller/dealer. Thanks for the video, which resolved the manual’s arrogant lack of instructions.
So what about those kits that sell u an one bulb and u have to use the same housing is that harder is there any soldering needed. Mine is still working fine but thinking the life might get reduced since going to take it on a few trips.
I have the Optoma HD142X 1080p 3000 Lumens 3D DLP Home Theater Projector. I just replaced my lamp with BL-FU195C SP.72J02GC01 Replacement Projector Lamp with Housing for OPTOMA HD142X HD27 Projector and after a couple hours, the projection pulses strangely (not exactly a flash). Any help? Any ideas?
Hi Tom, I've just repair a HD146X projector, Power supply got damage and I put a new one that is suppose to be a replacement, now it turn on and the lamp starts but very dim and then turn off and the LED Lamp is in red, my question is, if the lamp is deflective it will turn on but Dimed ?
These instructs seem to work perfectly for my HD27 that I purchased in October 2016. Bulb just hit 5000 hours and it’s asking for a new one, but I can’t for the life of me find the correct one on optoma’s website. Would love to have another OEM.

Hey Tom, are you still checking you messages and can help? I've got an estimate of $384.00 to REPAIR the LIGHT ENGINE of my Optoma hd20. I love my projector but it's 8 years old. Here is the issue: IT WORKS GREAT THE 1st 10 MINUTES, but AFTER THAT IT GETS BLURRY. THERE IS A NEW BULB NEW COLOR WHEEL INSTALLED IN THE PROJECTOR. What are your thoughts? Thanks a bunch!!!

Maybe good to mention, that you need to close the cap or it will not start. As tech need I was checking if it even starts before putting the cap back and screwing it... And it did not. Took me two times taking new lamp out and examine it, before I decided to try with the cap closed 🤣
Could have been a much better video with a little more consideration of the fact that many people don't do this every day. Blasting through it like it's as simple as replacing a 60w bulb in an old lamp didn't help me, it came off more like a techie guy showing off. Why not mention the model number when you started? My model (HD28DSE) has the cord plugging in right next to where the latch goes down, would have been great to tell me how to put that back on, as well as how to place the wires. I appreciate the video, but if you're going to take the time to put one up there, don't make it look like you're really trying to show off how easy something is when it may very well not be that easy for your customers. The screws don't come out easily. Using something to wedge between the screw head and the body of the projector may be necessary to give the threads enough traction to get them out.
Barely 550 hours on this piece of junk and it’s already failed. I’ll spend my money elsewhere next time and never on an Optoma projector again. Ridiculous.
Absolutely awesome video.

Thank you! Easy to follow, worked great! Much better than some longer versions out there.
