- DJI Mini 2 Range Test - Out to an oil tanker over the ocean!
I flew my DJI Mini 2 out over the Pacific Ocean. I live in Baja California and I see these oil tankers anchored out what looks like not too far from the beach. But, my Ship Tracker app showed the closest one to be about 2 nautical miles away. So, I tried to reach it with my drone.
The name of the one I'm flying to is the Torm Adventurer. You'll see in the video that the speed is much slower going out than it was coming back. That indicates a breeze coming in to the beach, although I couldn't really feel it.

I done today as well 3 km distance above the sea, with dji mini 2 se. Adrenaline levels were amazing:)

You only flew about 25m up. Braver then me over water thats for sure!
This was INSANELY AMAZING!!! My heart was pumping so hard when I saw the battery reach 51% , I yelled out to my partner, this man HAS ACCOMPLISHED THE IMPOSSIBLE😮 I don’t know if he’s going to make it back home😅 but then was reassured at how the return flight seemed so much faster😊! Amazing footage, thank you sooo much for sharing this!!!
How are you not scared the birds fighting your drone?
Gawd your brave dude! That wind was hitting you pretty good on the trip out,had to of been in your favor for the return
That wind hit your battery hard. Those mini 2's can get some crazy distance on a calm day.
I fly mostly over the water, so it's always windy.
Im scared to fly my drone in the morning because of the white birds thing in hawaii
Wow man I Never realized how fast that battery actually draiNs. 5% a miNute is pretty crazy thiNkiNg about it. 😮💨😮💨 Well the fuN haviNg it iN the air is all worth the 30 miNutes. 💯🤟

How did u guet audio off the drone?
The audio is from his phone, drones do not usually have a microphone.
Was this a serious Question? You do know the audio was his voice ?!!
Why you didn't use sports mode when returning?
I'm retired. I'm in no hurry. 🤣

Sport mode may drain the battery much quicker. At those distances he was probably gambling on a slower but more sure safe return home before the battery completely drained. Just my guess.
