Just picked up the 35xti. I put together a desktop system. First started with the KEF q150 and found them a little too harsh for nearfield. Then switched the martin logan 15i which was a step in the right direction but not quite where I wanted to be. Jumped up to the 35xti and very happy.

I'm shopping ML's and havent heard either... big enough difference with the 35xti to justify the jump in price? Planning to pair them to a small amp, no subwoofer, and push them a bit. Love the aesthetics.
@@quicktoevil if you’re going no subwoofer then definitely the 35xti bc they have at least a little bit of bass. The 15i have none. I’m using the 15i’s in my bedroom for watching TV. They are great for that application but critical music listening they have some deficiencies.
@@danielwander605 I run the 15's as desktop speakers with a sub. I'm curious to what deficiencies your speaking on minus bass of course.
@@twistacatz It's been a while now, and I've even moved on from the 35xti's in the specific setup I was referring to. I now kind of think that part of my issue was bad setup. I had them crammed onto a 30" wide desk on speaker stands angled down towards my seat. Last summer when I got a new much wider desk the 35xti sounded a good amount better than in the prior configuration which leads me to believe I was judging the 15i a but unfairly. I remember finding them a bit thin and squawky at higher volumes. I've also found that I have a preference for a more classic style tweeter as opposed to the ribbons when it comes to music. I now use the 15i's in my bedroom for TV watching and no issues there. So, I think it just came down to a non-ideal setup and personal preference.
UPDATE! I have the Triangle BR03 ($500) on the way that I can feature in the next episode. The DALI ($800) would return. I need a third set to add in. If anyone has a contact with a great set of speakers in this price range please help connect us! This will be a regular series and I want to make sure that the speakers you want to know about are featured. I's also like to de a video with speakers in the 200/pair price range too. I'll post this up on the HTF facebook group where its easier to discuss. Drop by and let me know what you want to see.

Nice review! I'm very pleased with my Dali Oberon 5 mini floorstanders, lots of fun and take up less space than most bookshelf speakers on stands. Not many reviews around though. Maybe you could get hold of a pair and let us know what you think 👍

I think 65 watts would be fine.

I own the Q’s and I feel they’re very laid back. Heavy bass, but with some tone control (I have an old band EQ) they come beautifully alive. And I run them with a sub.

What about highs.Are they neutral or bright?
@@andreassouth1523 They feel neutral in that they aren’t thrown at you and have a nice balance. Though they feel forward in the sense that they’re ever so slightly bright. I would say without an EQ, the 3030i’s are neutral with a much fuller low end compared to its mids or highs.
Hey home theater fanatics which is better the kef q 350 or the dali oberon 3 overall quality N in wide soundstaging and bass refinement please let me know looking to buy but need 1 to work with my Yamaha RX v6a

From this comparison I just bought Dali Oberon 3, but still confused what amp should it pair with? Knowing from some other reviewers that the trebel can be a bit too harsh ,can you please recommend a few amps that are suitable for this Dali Oberon 3? Thanx in advance Jiles McCoy 👍
Hi Jiles. Don't forget, the Dali Oberon 3 were voiced for use with the grills attached. That's unusual. Try them with the grills on before investing in another amp?

When we build a 3 way tower speaker with 3 drivers which has 3 different rated impedances like 8(tweeter)+4(mid bass driver)+4(woofer).
When we connect them through a 3 way crossover network what would be the effective impedance for amplifier?
I mean to know what would be the effective impedance and how to calculate that?

When we connect different drivers to a crossover how to see those connections as they are in series or parallel. Because parallel and series will result in different impedance values.
How about the focal aria 906? That would be a good contender as I’m on the fence between those, the kef metas or the Martin Logan xti that y’all reviewed.

I picked up a pair of Polk Audio L200s. They are the best bookshelf speakers I've ever owned. At $1500/pr, roughly a year ago, they are a real bargain. Upper and lower binding posts for Bi-amping

The 35XTI might be a bit more detailed and transparent than the Oberons. The oberons are a little more pleasing to listen to to me. Maybe a bit warmer and forward in the midrange?

I'm going to throw out some less discussed speakers: Chane L3, HTD Level 3, HSU CCB-8, RSL CG5, and Ascend Acoustics Sierra lineup. Edit: Also I feel like the intro music was like 20db hot compared to the dialog.
Those are all great options. I don’t have any relationships with those folks but I would love to feature their gear. I am completely unfamiliar with HTD. I am off to google them more now.
@@JilesMcCoy They are all smaller companies so very much a YMMV but I know for Chane and HSU at least if you call their support number there's a good chance you'll talk to John or Dr Hsu the owners. I know HTD Level 3 bookshelf and Chane A1.5 were both reviewed by ZReviews ages ago so they might be more willing to send since they've done it in the past. I recently listened to the A1.5 and they sounded pretty good with quite a bit of bass for their size and the new L series looks pretty interesting but I don't think I've seen much written about them since they are so new. Also you hearted your own comment :P

I've been enamored with dali since the first demo on RUclips. I bought jbl studio 580 but I should've bought the dali. Dali has the sound I like. I think nothing will beat the dali from what I've heard, except maybe focal or Dynaudio for about 10 times more $$.
Cool! I was super impressed, and this is their low end stuff.
As far as aesthetic, the Dali Opticon series, the next step over the Oberons remain a vinyl wrap although they are made in Denmark while the lower lines are outsourced from China. The Vinyl isn't as robust as what's in the Oberons. You have to move to Rubicon and above for veneer or painted. For the price of the Opticons, they should be a wood veneer.

@@JilesMcCoy Well, virtually most of the main albums of composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Pergolesi, Teleman, etc...(I am biased towards Baroque composers)...

Ive never heard those before.
The 3030i nominal impedance is 6ohm, not 4. It has a minimum of 4ohm, but any 6ohm speaker will drop that low.

The guy on the left listens to his music flat no tone tweaking plus I think the guys got deep pockets and the price puts him off the Qs get £700 together and at a guess that's about $930 am and you have your front 2 and a decent av with bass n treble and graphics if your lucky. You have what you need for now. on no ch stereo then build from there no rush like the rich guys. I have a pair of Qs and I say buy them I had them on low breaking them in for a week but in the complex I live in I got loads of complaints but I don't care I'm enjoying these speakers. I would advise the cheep but brilliant Q 3070s instead of one big driver that only cater for deep bass so they put 2 6nhalf inch drivers in the box but if you don't have much room but deep pockets go for the kef KC62.

@@mob7586. EQ is fine. But you test the speakers as what they do naturally. Otherwise you can’t make a comparison.

The 3030i is more balance for me with any of my sony HT. It sounds more better with my Sony 3100es, with my yamaha 2080 aventage sound neutral. Less dynamic.

But since you described it as bright or harsh, I'll think again because I can't stand bright sounding speakers for more than 10 min.Too pity because its price is perfect 340 euros! Because of covid, I can't go to listen to it in a store....On the other hand dalis oberon 3 are very expensive 600 euros.The 1st system i have for music is wharefade 225 with yamaha a-s701.Sweet and mellow sound with tons of bass!
@@andreassouth1523 I agree that the price is absolutely right on the Q3030i. They were too bright for my taste, but I do enjoy a very neutral speaker. You could always give them a try and if you don't like them send them back. The Dali's are outstanding, but a lot more money.
Nice review guys, but please turn off that annoying autofocus on the camera. You are sitting on a lounge, just set the focus and enough depth of field to cover you. I basically had to listen to this like a podcast.
