I bet you couldn’t wait to go off exploring. That feeling you get when you explore a new area, the species you will encounter for the first time. I have seen a Blue Morpho but only in a butterfly house, but lovely to see, the Owl Butterfly too. Look forward to next instalment.

What a luxuriant place almost straight out of an adventure movie😮. It is incredible to see what was achieved in 25 years to turn this area of Tranquilo Bay into an eco tourism venture such as this. Just beyond belief, knowing full well how difficult the climatic conditions are in the tropics when it comes to building anything. Can't wait to see the pond creation finished product. Kudos to the local labour force for working in such humid and torrid conditions. You must have felt it pretty bad especially ially the humidity
I have been living in the tropics for the past 35 years, and I am still not used to it... and don't think I ll ever will. I can't wait for the next instalments of this fantastic Panama series. Hope you and Nikki are well 😊. Take care and have a great weekend ahead.

Hi there - sorry for the delay in catching up with you, with over 300 videos there's so many comments, but I'm trying to ensure no one is ignored, notifications from YT are sporadic too. The reason the rubber liner (recycled from tyres and recommended by Greenpeace) is so that the water stays there, the fleece is protected by the subsoil on top and the subsoil negates the need for planting in additional plastic baskets. Ponds are vital and, with all the methods out there that are viable, these are better than fibreglass, concrete etc of course. Hope this helps explain, best wishes - Joel

I could watch hours of this, what an amazing place. Lucky people! I would love to hear more about why they wanted you to come all the way and build a pond there, for example are there no natural ponds or lakes on this island? What are the advantages in such a tropical rainforest paradise of building a pond? Seems almost a shame to put manmade liners in such a pristine looking place, but I guess clay isn’t an option? Many questions and some envy, but delightful to watch. Was it hard to sleep in that night chorus?

Hi there - still catching up on so many comments, YT notifications are sporadic and sometimes I miss comments and questions, not ignoring anyone! I met Jim through the global bird fair conservation weekend held in England. He has been desperate to put a pond in, where he lives is an island and there are no ponds, it used to be completely farmed previously and he's spent many years bringing it back to be suitable for wildlife. He has waited ages to put a pond in and asked if I would go there and, with the local guys help, ensure that it was another habitat for wildlife. It now has dragonflies, amphibians etc that have managed to find it and even a Caiman - Jim sends regular updates and hopefully with the film clips I'll be able to collate enough to bring another update video to you all. Hope this helps, best wishes - Joel

@@WildYourGardenWithJoelAshton Thank you so much fior catching up, I know you are busy and YT notifications live their own life it seems for me as well. Oh and thank you for explaining why he indeed was in need of a pond in a place that to a casual outsider looks like it has it all! I have saved some of your tropical adenture for a special treat in viewing them, which I will be shortly. It sounds wonderful if there might be even further updates from Jim and this paradise-like island. Best wishes
