This goes to show what one can achieve with no machinery at all. What a job and what a perseverance of all the guys !

Thanks so much! As you noted already, these guys were relentless in their efforts and no way could I have achieved this without them. Wanted to bring them all home for my landscaping projects in the UK, I'd certainly get through work quicker! Not sure if you saw my other reply, notifications are a pain, but subscribed to your brilliant channel and will have a look over the weekend - best wishes, and thanks for all the support - Joel

What a fabulous series to watch so far❤
Love the music to, really catchy with the guitars❤
I'm using the standing water of my own pond to, to see which part needs raising or lowering.
Have dug a little bit more when water levels were very low.
Now they are back up to over half way.
I can't wait for the next gardening season either❤
Will make a second attempt at sowing cottage flower seeds.
And will add (torny) plants to add structure to the new garden.
They will serve multiple functions: food for bees and birds and bird nesting options❤
Can't wait for the results ❤

That water was very welcome after the sweltering heat George, very welcome. So much to update everyone on, especially the wildlife that has turned up and benefitted. When editing, despite remembering the heat, I longed to be back, hopefully one day again soon. Hope you've had a good weekend, best wishes - Joel

Hey Joel! Enjoying these videos so much! What an amazing place to make a pond! So good to see you had such a lot of help. The sloth was incredible, I saw a documentary about them and the habitat their fur provides for the moths. Can't wait to see how the pond progresses. Had a lovely walk around Loynton with the grandkids, we'd never seen so many snowdrops in the woods..And never seen so much mud! Great fun when you've forgot your wellies and have to play mud sliding in your trainers! Great fun. Hope your Scotland project is going good and the family all well. Best wishes.

So glad you're enjoying these, so much more to bring you and lots on the wildlife, trips out with Jim and of course getting to see the Panama canal AND a Harpie Eagle! Don't want to give too much away 😆but so much footage to edit and upload - Jim keeps me updated regularly via whatsapp and boy are there some incredible creatures that utilise that pond already. Glad you had a chance to get muddy too! Sounds like a great way to make memories - best wishes, Joel

That is sweat equity for sure, constructing an oasis within an oasis! I thought they would just hose you down, a dip in the Caribbean sounds much better 👍

Hi Charlotte, it certainly was hard work and there's no way this could have been achieved without the hard work and determination of the Panamanian guys, wanted to bring them all back to the UK as I'm sure I'd get 3 times the ponds done in the same time! It was pretty breathtaking seeing those sloths in real-life and knowing that they have an absolute haven on this island, along with so much other wildlife. Lots more to come, best wishes - Joel

Hi Madeleine! Lots more to come from Panama, so glad you're enjoying this series and I must admit that watching it all back when editing does make me long to return even more, particularly to see those hard-working guys again, all the wildlife and my friend Jim. One day soon hopefully as Jim already wants another pond, but in the meantime I have lots of footage of the wildlife enjoying this new habitat :) Hope you and yours are well, best wishes - Joel

Hey Miche, thanks so much for this. Many more videos to come, aside from the usual instructional ones, but was just so keen to show that a pond can be done in the middle of the jungle in the most adverse of weather, with these very hard working guys who planned to make more ponds in the villages where they reside. I certainly really miss Panama, and it's wonderful people, every time I edit a clip and watch it all back. Hope you're keeping well - best wishes, Joel

Really enjoyed this video Joel, but was constantly worrying about the lads and your bare feet while moving those huge rocks.😱 I noted the Sloth did not offer any help but what a great team you had to help you with this amazing project. Looking forward to the next part.🤞😊

Still catching up with everyone, been away in Scotland and then Wales and now down in Surrey, but just editing the next episode, hoping to upload for Friday as time ran away with me on Sunday. So glad you're enjoying this series, have to say that you'll especially enjoy the next episode and the locals that we meet whilst out searching for native pond plants along the ORIGINAL Panama Canal. Speak soon, take good care - Joel

    And Co
    Sloth Moths Rule lol
Did you use double liner over the sand or was it a seperate underlay ?
That rock was a bit dangerous and there were guys barefoot !!
Cannot wait to see some water now
Great Idea with the tarp too
    Stay safe 😂😂😂

    • @WildYourGardenWithJoelAshton

Hey Kevin, thanks so much. The guys were wonderful to work with though I'm not too sure the same health and safety standards would apply in the UK! It was only when editing it and watching it back that I saw how close that rock was! Barefoot was definitely best, we tried in boots but the soil was so claggy that your boots ended up weighing twice as much in no time :) Just one layer of fleece above and below liner, but this was shipped in from USA so a different colour from the fleece I use, but not so easy to determine against the liner so I see why you asked :) Lots more to bring everyone, lots of wildlife benefitting already. Best wishes, Joel

    • @WildYourGardenWithJoelAshton
      @WildYourGardenWithJoelAshton  3 месяца назад +1

Hey Keith! Fantastic, no less. Lots of Ceviche, Patacones, Empanadas etc but I believe that due to the Panamanian railway and of course Canal, there have been lots of world influences on the traditional food too - plus there is the American "lean" on dishes due to Jim's nationality and he makes a mean cocktail! But I'd recommend a stay if ever you get the chance. Wonderful food, wonderful people :) Hope you and yours are well, best wishes - Joel

Not sure whether I got lucky or it's just the part of Panama I was in, or the time of year but I think I got the equivalent of a gnat bite maybe 3 times! It could also be because they couldn't reach most of me as I was 90% covered in mud! Best wishes, Joel
