  • Learn how to do a #GrayCoverage service on blonde hair from this #HairColorTutorial from Wella Professionals Color Expert Chris Rea. Chris will share his #WellaEducation hints and tips and everything you need to consider when covering gray hair for your blonde clients.
For this service, Chris used Koleston Perfect and BlondorPlex so discover the formulas and step by step instructions below.
    Formula A:20g Blondor Plex + 30g 4% Welloxon Perfect
    Formula B (Front): 15g Koleston Perfect 8/0+ 15g 8/97+ 30g 6% Welloxon Perfect
    Formula C (Back): 30g 7/18+ 30g 6% Welloxon Perfect
    Gloss: Koleston Perfect 20g 9/13+ 20g 1.9% Welloxon Perfect + 20g Invigo
    Post Service Treatment
Step 1: Assess the distribution and % of gray hair. This will help you choose the right product and technique. Remember you do need to cover or neutralise underlying warmth.
Step 2: Apply foils throughout the parting to give a multitonal tonal look. Section using the herring bone technique. Chris used Blondorplex with 4% Welloxon Perfect.
Step 3: After rinsing use WellaPlex no2 Bond Stabilizer.
Step 4: Gloss using Koleston Perfect 20g 9/13+ 20g 1.9% Welloxon Perfect + 20g Invigo Post Service Treatment for a soft warm beige shine throughout the mid-lengths and ends. Start your application at the nape and work your way through the hair. Develop for 5-15min.

What would be the shade for the same level of blond or one step lighter, but for an effect of less green and yellow light blond , something very natural, but with less yellow and orange but slight pinkish hue so suits a different skin tone? ( Formulated for the same hair type of hair )

It still has that red ish tint to where u applied the color which is the problem I’m having n I don’t know if I should dye it once not leaving the color in that long then mixing a new batch of color n dying it again for the whole period of time the dye should be in. Or just stop trying to dye my light brown and gray hair my natural blonde n just dye it black

Why didn’t you use 88/0 or 8/00? For better coverage on grey over 50%?

Can you please clarify - did you mix the 931 gloss/toner w/a 20 vol developer and paint that on the roots also??

the roots looked much darker.....not a great blend...this is exactly the problem I am having and why I was looking for a solution on RUclips. The results here are exactly the reason my clients complain.....

I think that is the trend now. I saw another video where they actually came back in and darkened the roots to give it a more “natural” look.
So if you are doing a diy at home, you may need to use 30 or even 40 volume developer and leave on the roots longer. Depending on your hair color. I have never used a 20 volume developer unless I bleached it first. At Sally beauty supply you can get the higher level developer. They also have high lift colors that you don’t need to use bleach with.

the hair looks great, nice color. Only those black masks, they really had the people slaved for nothing.... maybe another video without masks would be nice.
