I'd say all of these things are there in IIT Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, IITD might just edge out by a bit due to its location but nowhere near enough for someone to leave good branches in other IITs, this case is fine because MnC is a great branch but if it comes down to like MnC at KGP or chemical at IITD, considering the student has no prior interest in chemical, then KGP should be preferred, also considering that the student has no goal like UPSC or something, but if someone does, and its very clear from the beginning, then yes IITD could be preferred. But i will still suggest BITS for cse, alumni netwrok and higher ed. But if you want to have that "IITian" tag then take IIT R

No not at all, in fact after 2 years at IITD I feel MnC is better than CSE :) Almost equal opportunities are there in both these branches and the course load and competition is much lower in MnC
No, only in october-early november and it only happens near industral areas and yamuna bank areas. Trust me, I live near IIT Delhi, air is pretty clean and it's in prime South Delhi location with greenery all around

First of all congratulations that's a great result. I'd say you can take a really good college at this rank but if you're definite to join the top IITs then one drop year would not hurt at all. I do believe that putting one extra year is completely worth it. It's upto you to decide. Just think properly take your time and take the decision that you're satisfied with

It is a tough choice, 5year degree ke agar bilkul against ho toh Delhi but I'd say one extra year doesn't really matter and if you pursue your core then the Masters would anyway help. I'd have gone for IITB
