So happy I found this, loved the music and instructions were very simple. Thank you for making this. One question- I have a Singer 3223 would that work with this project? I have both size 16 and 18 needles. Thanks again.
That machine looks similar to what i used to use :) itd definately be easier if you used a heavy duty machine but itd still work! Would just take a lot longer to sew and may jam up a few times. Glad you enjoyed!
It really depends on how much you sew and how good your machine is and how accurate you want to be :) It typically takes multiple hours which is why people sell them at such high prices.
I get my fleece from multiple locations. Im from Canada and Joanns used to ship here which is where more of my fleece came from (they had amazing deals and patterns!) Other than there i went to fabricland! Im glad you enjoyed! :)
Hi, I followed this awesome tutorial for my first liner ever. I got myself stuck after flipping it inside out : The result is now too thick to fit under my machine's foot and I can't close the gap or add the extra sewing all around to fix everything... How did you manage to get your foot high enough? Do I just have a crappy machine (very possible) or is there a way? Btw I used towels, not uHaul, so this is thicker that yours... Thanks!
@@SheikyPets Thank you for your reply! Sadly, I've already tried that, and after forcing a lot, yes I can sort of squeeze the fabric under, but the resulting sewing is not viable, and I can't finish without the thread breaking or the machine screaming in pain haha. I think I need to find a way to higher the max height of the foot...
@@Lafillesansnomdu78 you can always hand sew it but itd definately take up quite a bit of time :) how many absorbent layers did you use? If you used 2 you can always get away with 1. You can also try to trim down that excess fabric on the inside edges. Other than that i havent really had a problem where it didnt fit under the foot. I used to use a cheap walmart one which took a bit of forcing but it still did the trick! I hope I helped you in some way :)
@@SheikyPets I really need the second towel, and even that is somehow not always enough. I think I'll switch to uHaul when my stack of towels will run out! Anyway thank you, I'll find a way!
Hi! So I just want to verify. You used 2 layer of the same fleece so if I have a 2×4 I'd need enough for a 2×8 plus some, 2 layers of uhaul pads, and then the same amount of fabric for the other fleece layer?
At the very minimun you need 1 layer of fleece, 1 layer of uhaul and then another 1 layer of fleece. Ive never put in 2 layers of fleece on a single side and if uou want you could put 2 layers of uhaul but its quite hard on a sewing machine
GracesPiggies i believe you can have just one if you really wanted :) it just wouldnt be as cushioned and there wouldn't be anything protecting the absorbent layer in the wash (although it might be the same in the wash im not 100% sure as i havent done it)
Okay but like what is U-Haul? Where do I buy it and can I get it in England? I really wanna get into making them but just have no idea what U-Haul is 😬
it's a company that moves furniture, and they wrap these pads around it for protection. i think it's only in the US. it's from recycled denim fibers if i understood correctly.
Madintsin and The Fam its recommended to wash with cold water and tumble or hang dry to prevent shrinking but personally i use the warm setting as i add plenty of extra inches for shrinking. I is recommended to use scent free detergent and never use fabric softener as it creates a waterproof barrier on the fleece and prevents pee from seaping through
For sure! Id double thread your needle though and itd take a really long time! As well as id recomment having a single absorbent layer (some people preffer two) as itd be extremely thick to push the needle through. Good luck and let me know how it turned out! :)
@@alexhenretty3885 theres a product i believe called zorb that people use in diapers or you can even use towels although towels would take longer to dry and be heavier and possibly have a odor
For the U-Haul liner did you just layer it to make it smaller or are there certain sizes that you can buy it or can you cut it so that you can make any size fleece that you want with it because I cannot find any liner that would fit perfectly the size of my cage without me making it and I can’t find any material that I can cut
